What do we think about accent nail manicures?

Are they nice? I've seen some that I think look pretty cool and others that just look weird. Need to redo my gels this week and contemplating taking the plunge! I know I'm massively behind the curve btw.

Also sort of shameless thread to show off any accent nail manicures you may be sporting please! Bonus points if they're Christmassy.

I hardly ever paint my nails but I'm trying ever so hard to get into the Christmas spirit - and failing so far! About to my children's carol service so hopefully that will help.

How about an gold glitter gradient on your dark red nails? Something like this looks pretty.

ATM, mine are burgundy with sparkly ring fingers and thumbs. I don't care if anyone else likes them, I love them.

These are my daughters nails (I couldn't cope with that length!) but I love the mulled wine colour and accent nails in the middle.

love what bellinibobble has posted - loads more than the one accent nail in a diff colour even if it does 'match'
But I am a big believer in doing what you want and sod what other people think...

I rarely have my nails done but thought I'd have some super sparkly Christmas nails. I liked the green but thought it was a bit witchy for all my nails so went for an accent nail. MIL was completely baffled.

I like some of the ones I've seen on Pinterest, but always just go for plain. Redid mine last night Immy ordinary red and at the last minute wondered about a sparkly topcoat on one or two fingers but didn't.

@belinibobble I do a decent job of a single colour manicure but I think I'd muck it up if I tried doing that gradient glitter business!

I really don’t like accent nails, or different colours on different nails. I’m a bit boring about nails to be honest I very occasionally have glitter nails for a party but not gels as it’ll off again the next day.

It is such a tacky look.

I've never done it, but I've always wondered: why is it always the same finger? Is there any particular thinking behind it or did everyone just copy the first person to come up with it?

Having said that I don't hate them, it's just a bit high maintenance for me. I do my own nail varnish and usually keep it simple just because I'm a bit rubbish at it. Putting on a glitter top coat is about as fancy as I get.

It’s to highlight engagement rings & was probably dreamt up by someone who’d waited ten years for a proposal. It has that slight taint of women desperately waiting for men to decide their fates for them 😏
