Can I have your approval or disapproval of this outfit for a meal with friends tomorrow night?

It's just round at the local, kids in tow.

I'm always scared to wear loose fitting tops as I feel they make me look big (used to be overweight and lost the weight).

Some of the girls going are that really effortlessly stylish types and I certainly wouldn't put myself in that category.

Looking for a casual but well put together feel.

Also wondering if sandals & a jumper is a bit weird?

Please help!!

Thanks ☺️

To me sandals and jumper are a bit strange would be better with ankle boots. Or a vest top and a cardie then sandals.

AurorasMyGirl · 14/09/2018 21:44

Also, does it look frumpy? I'm late 20s.

Honestly?
Don’t like the sandals and jumper combo and I think that the black vest under the jumper is too much of a contrast.
Not keen on the bag either
Sorry

tootiredtospeak · 14/09/2018 21:45

No doesnt look frumpy at all

7salmonswimming · 14/09/2018 21:46

I know this is S&B, but to me this looks like jeans and a jumper. Not really an “outfit”. If you’re going out to a local restaurant with children in tow, is there any need to look that stylish Confused

worknamechanged · 14/09/2018 21:46

I love the jumper, where is it from?

I wouldn’t go jumper and sandals unless I was already out and cold so put a jumper on IYSWIM. Boots? Toms?

Playdonut · 14/09/2018 21:46

Nothing could make you look big, but I agree about the jumper and sandals. Do you have any boots or trainers?

7salmonswimming · 14/09/2018 21:46

Oh dear. Really lost on me. I didn’t even realise the bag was part of the look! Sorry. Ignore me.

Singlenotsingle · 14/09/2018 21:47

It's very casual isn't it? Big woolly pulley is a bit odd with sandals. Agree ankle boots would be better, OR a cold-shoulder top instead of the wp?

WeWerOnABreak · 14/09/2018 21:47

I wouldn't wear the jumper to a restaurant, I would be far too hot. It would be a lovely outfit when it's colder with some ankle boots.

Trialsmum · 14/09/2018 21:48

I think some boots with a heel would be better. Well done on losing the weight, you look fantastic!

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/09/2018 21:48

Why is your bag so big?

PurpleDaisies · 14/09/2018 21:49

I think the jumper is odd for a meal out.

TheDishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 14/09/2018 21:50

It's a lovely jumper and I like it with the jeans, I am not keen on the black sandals and black vest with it though. I think the black looks a bit too dark. I think it needs brown shoes maybe? I don't mind jumper and sandals, I like sandals and jeans look.

AdaColeman · 14/09/2018 21:57

I'm not sure about the jumper for a night out. Have you got something like a large silk shirt, or a linen jacket instead?

TantricTwist · 14/09/2018 22:01

It's too casual for a night in the pub, wear a shirt or something and definitely ditch the sandals for trainers or ankle boots.

AurorasMyGirl · 14/09/2018 22:02

Okay... most people aren't keen so I need to rethink.

Ankle boot wise, all I've got is black timberland boots 👎🏻

We're eating at 5pm. I use restaurant in the loosest sense of the word. It's one of those places with built in soft play. I know you'll all be thinking I'm an idiot for caring what I wear to somewhere like that but it's because I don't get our much at all and the girls I'm going with are all quite stylish. I just wanted to wear something and feel good about myself in it.

Why is your bag so big?

Because I only have a couple of bags (don't have the money to buy any more) and mostly use a change bag or backpack for day to day use. I got this bag in the sale and thought it was nice & would also fit any child related stuff in. I didn't realise big bags were a no no!

I actually think it looks fine (minus the bag). Just normal regular daytime clothes. It says more going out to the supermarket rather than dinner with friends though. Depends what you're trying to achieve but to be honest, just wear what you want and own it. Don't worry what other people think. Far too many people on S&B seem to worry about the opinions of others. You're the only one that matters OP. Enjoy life and stop worrying so much.

Snog · 14/09/2018 22:05

For soft play I think it's a good choice

Fairylea · 14/09/2018 22:07

For what you’re describing I think your outfit is lovely. I would ditch the bag though, it doesn’t really go.

I quite like it. I would maybe choose a white top and if possible brown ankle boots. To be honest if you feel comfy and like it then wear it 😉
