Can I have your approval or disapproval of this outfit for a meal with friends tomorrow night?

It's just round at the local, kids in tow.

I'm always scared to wear loose fitting tops as I feel they make me look big (used to be overweight and lost the weight).

Some of the girls going are that really effortlessly stylish types and I certainly wouldn't put myself in that category.

Looking for a casual but well put together feel.

Also wondering if sandals & a jumper is a bit weird?

Please help!!

Thanks ☺️

The thing about the jumper is that the interest is at the back with the twist feature, but you're off to a meal at the pub where you will be sitting down with the back of the jumper hidden most of the time.

Have you got something to break up the expanse of oatmeal wool at the front, maybe a heavy ethnic necklace/beads?

Or save the jumper for an event when you will be on your feet, with the back visible, a mulled wine drinks do maybe?

Mishappening · 14/09/2018 22:10

Oops! - jumper on back to front!

JeremyCorbynsBeard · 14/09/2018 22:14

I think it looks stylish (not keen on the bag though). I quite like a sandal/jumper combo.

willandkate · 14/09/2018 22:16

I like it. Think it's the perfect time of year for a jumper and sandals (hate having hot feet!) and it looks stylish but effortless which is cool. Bag is nice for a casual meal too x

TwentySmackeroos · 14/09/2018 22:17

If it’s at soft play, might you have to take shoes off to go and rescue/retrieve/stop arguments (or is that just my gang)?

I’d always wear socks to soft play, matching ones with no holes (flashback) Blush

Polestar50 · 14/09/2018 22:22

I like it! That jumper is fab and I am imagining you will get to show off the back detailing if you’re up and down seeing to kids a lot. The black vest works fine under it in my opinion.
I think the sandals and jumper works just fine at this time of year too.

The bag doesn’t go though. Sorry. It’s a nice looking bag. It’s just that the light colour and straps don’t tie in with the black vest and dark sandals.

If you don’t have a black bag, I’d just take whatever’s practical to bring the kids stuff in and ditch it as soon as you can once you’re there.

Agree a longish necklace would be great to break up the front of the jumper if possible.
No worries if not though.
I think this is a good example of relaxed but stylish clothes for a pub meal/soft play.
Hope you feel awesome whatever you end up wearing and have a great eve.

You look lovely! I think it's a perfect outfit for the occasion, hope you have a great time 😊

AurorasMyGirl · 14/09/2018 22:31

Unless you think this is better? I bought the dress/pinafore but was going to return it as it's a little out of my comfort zone (jeans).

I really like dress outfit.

AurorasMyGirl · 14/09/2018 22:37

Thanks purpledaisies

Anyone else??

Bingisatwat · 14/09/2018 22:38

Dress looks lovely on you but wear whatever you feel comfortable in.

kristinav · 14/09/2018 22:38

The second outfit is better than the first because it shows off your great figure.

Could you wear the top from pic 2 with your jeans?

HundredMilesAnHour · 14/09/2018 22:40

The first outfit was much more flattering. The pinafore is seriously frumpy.

AdaColeman · 14/09/2018 22:41

Wear the dress outfit, you look lovely in that!
Have a super time!

DeusEx · 14/09/2018 22:42

I think you look fantastic OP

kristinav · 14/09/2018 22:42

If we knew approx where you lived OP I wonder if anyone would have any clothes. You're not stupid for caring about your outfit. Please don't think like that x

AurorasMyGirl · 14/09/2018 22:43

Thank you DeusEx. Which outfit though?

MinaPaws · 14/09/2018 22:44

The bag is FINE for soft play. People are over thinking this. Just wear ankleboots or converse or nice trainers with the jeans instead of sandals.
Nice jumper.

AurorasMyGirl · 14/09/2018 22:50

Now I'm so confused Confused can people vote... 1st outfit of 2nd? If possible? It would be a great help Smile

Love the bag but would go smaller for dinner & jumper too hot. You look great though!

IWouldLikeToKnow · 14/09/2018 22:55

Definitely go with the first outfit. It's 5pm, with kids. So really a regular daytime outfit is all you need. I like the jumper, the back of it gives it an edge, as does the contrasting vest under. I would say wear trainers instead of the sandals, but that's not essential. The sandals aren't bad with the jeans. Enjoy your dinner

Arriettyborrower · 14/09/2018 23:07

Outfit one is so much better than two, plus you look relaxed in it.
I love sandals, jeans and oversized jumpers, I’ve been wearing dark washed out grey skinnies, navy vest and grey cashmere poncho today with navy birkenstocks, so not much different from your outfit and had a lovely lady comment how much she liked it and asked where it was from.
Wear outfit one, it’s perfect for the occasion, feel confident and you will look great!

Purdyflick · 14/09/2018 23:09

You should wear whichever outfit you feel most comfortable in. I'm sure your mates want to see you rather than what you're wearing. I do prefer the dress though. But I do love a dress myself. Have a lovely evening and let us know which one you decide.

Thierryhenryneedisaymore · 14/09/2018 23:10

OP, listen to minapaws. Good post.

You are not comfortable with the dress so don't wear it.

Ignore brillo. Some people like being dicks for no reason.

Jeans jumper fine. Casual bag for kids stuff i think is better but its no big deal with the big bag either.

What about taking the dress back and buy a pair of flat pumps instead?

ChishandFips33 · 14/09/2018 23:15

I liked outfit one - have worn similar for similar venue. Outfit two doesn't offend either

Wear what makes you happy though if you don't often go out. Don't spoil your night worrying about your outfit...once you're sat down, no-one notices and in those places no-one cares and people are often in work stuff
