If they do, does it bother you about chit chatting about your clothes? Or are you pretty open.
I would hate it. If this thread was private I would have no issue with posting a picture, head include. Why don't mumsnet have a private section?

Laska5772 · 08/08/2018 20:19

I dont think I know anyone locally on MN in RL but one or two who I have talked to on PMs know my name .. .. I did meet one (not a Hushista) once. (we had lunch)

Ella I now have 2 pairs of Hush trainers and honestly they’re super comfy on my wide hoofs.
I usually buy Gabor wide fit, sometimes Clarks E fit. Very few std D fit shoes fit me (weirdly a pair of Mint Velvet kitten heels did) and I never keep any footwear unless I’m 100% happy as I don’t do painful shoes.
I think you can definitely try those you’re lusting after ❤️

Laska5772 · 08/08/2018 20:22

I'm not that bothered actually. I'd never say anything on the net i wouldn't in real life, and I'm not the sort of person who goes in for conflict.. I dont do facebook or twitter and I'm also very ordinary and boring in RL. (and here too probably !) .

OP posts:
SoyYo · 08/08/2018 20:25

My RL girlfriends are not remotely interested in fashion, clothes or social media. One of the reasons I come here as I don’t have anyone in RL to share my passion for glad rags.
It did cross my mind never that some acquaintances might recognise me and the reason I rarely post a full body pic too.
It would be nice to have the option to go on a private space in MN 👍

neveradullmoment99 · 08/08/2018 20:26

I have other hush trainers too and they have all been great for my feet. In fact I have 2 pairs of trainers, 3 summer sandals, 2 pairs of boots, one pair of pointy shoes [forgot all about them and haven't worn them Amesbury beautiful and gorgeous I think they are called] all from Hush. All are fantastic. Beautifully made and gorgeous leather. I did have another pair of trainers but sold them on ebay as I didn't wear them. They were fantastic too.

Talisin · 08/08/2018 20:27

I have that dress in black, Just and it’s fine but it really doesn’t work in the white. Dental assistant like everyone else has already said. Sorry!

neveradullmoment99 · 08/08/2018 20:27

They are not called Amesbury beautiful and gorgeous!! They are beautiful and gorgeous ha ha...

neveradullmoment99 · 08/08/2018 20:29

Nothing boring or ordinary about you Laska Grin

Ellapaella · 08/08/2018 20:32

One or two of my local friends share my passion for clothes but I don't get the chance to go shopping with friends much due to my DC being so little so I enjoy the chat here, posting photos and asking for opinions in the same the way you would if you were out shopping with friends and trying things on.
I'm not too worried about 'outing' myself on here as I don't say anything on mumsnet that I wouldn't say in RL to anyone. I think anyone who knows me in RL that is on here would have easily guessed who I am by now. I only know of two people in RL who confess to being mumsnetters.
Thanks for the show tips @SoyYo now roll on two weeks time so I can buy them!

Ellapaella · 08/08/2018 20:33

Thanks too @neveradullmoment99

ilovecherries · 08/08/2018 20:33

There are a few people - 4 probably - who know my real name as they’ve either gifted me something, or I’ve gifted them. I’ve given a couple of people size 22/24 outfits over the last year. There are also two people on the low carb bootcamp thread who have turned out to live locally, and we’ve met for coffee. I thought quite hard about putting my face in pictures. I never do on the bootcamp thread, simply because it’s more the kind of place the DM might trawl for before/after pics and stories. Here I do it mainly because of the hair thing. It’s estimated that 25-30% of women will have significant hair loss due to alopecia or Trichotillomania. It’s devastating, under reported, under treated and still seen as in some way shameful. I think it’s important that women who feel they CAN be out should do so. I was beyond horrified when I lost all my hair at 19. I went from a bum length ‘crowning glory’ to three stubby strands in three weeks. There was no help at all and to be honest, I’m not convinced it’s that much better nowadays. I still somedays - not often, but occasionally - have a real pity party day about it, but overall, I’m at peace with it, and I think it’s good for women to see someone who lives with it being ok with it. But yes, a private area would be nice.

ilovecherries · 08/08/2018 20:39

And yes, the other thing is that I generally try to be kind, pleasant and (reasonably!) polite on line, so it wouldn’t be a disaster if someone recognised me, or a client saw me. I don’t say anything I wouldn’t say irl. However, as we’ve already noted, I need to refresh my rl friends Grin, and I don’t really have anyone who has much of an interest in clothes, or to go shopping with, so this fills that gap.

neveradullmoment99 · 08/08/2018 20:39

I remember many years ago meeting a friend of a friend. She was only 23 and had lost all her hair. She wore a wig. I remember feeling sad for her. She was so young [younger than me at the time] and losing your hair at any age must be hard but to loose hair at a young age must just be devastating especially when its all about dating etc. Its just another added stress.

neveradullmoment99 · 08/08/2018 20:47

As for me, why do I come on here? I love clothes. I don't know anyone else who loves them as much as me in real life. I love it even more that I have found hush and this thread! I enjoy the hush relaxed but smart style and how the clothes make me feel. I love chatting and seeing everyone in real life on this thread especially with the clothes i'm interested in and different ways of styling them. Its fun. :)

Ellapaella · 08/08/2018 20:48

You love clothes Never? I would never have guessed GrinWink

Ellapaella · 08/08/2018 20:48

I love this thread. We are a nice bunch.

neveradullmoment99 · 08/08/2018 20:52

Grin Grin
I don't really know why I do tbh. Sometimes I do question why I care that much.

ilovecherries · 08/08/2018 20:52

It makes me very sad on some of the hairloss forums to hear the extend women go to to hide their heads from long term partners and husbands. Men who refuse to look, insist wigs are worn in bed, the head is never uncovered etc. It’s awful. I was with someone fairly long term at 19 and looking back he was incredibly kind and mature in how he dealt with it. He wet shaved my head for me to get rid of those three strands and as I didn’t in those days wear a wig, never made me feel ashamed or embarrassed. My husband now prefers me without a wig - he understand why I like to wear one and have the option, but he assures me he thinks my bald head is hot. On Sundays we buzz each other’s headsGrin. Romance is real. Grin I have noticed on bald days I ALWAYS get offered a seat on public transport, so I guess people do generally assume I’m sick. I never go bald without make up.

Laska5772 · 08/08/2018 20:55

I went all the way to Milwaukee (just me and my then 8yr old DS) to meet an online friend I had made on one of the first ever Trichotillomania talk boards in the late 90s (who I had written to but actually never net) and she had arranged a big meet up of lots other people we had also talked to on the same website (and none of us had met before ) who came from all over the US and also Ireland .

Later on that same friend and I did a piece on the John Peel Home Truths radio show about it.. her from Chicago and me from Brighton..
so no, Im not worried about outing myself.. (I have also 'recovered from Trichotillomania to a very large extent..pretty much due to discovering that I wasn't alone . but that why I keep my hair so very short .. .. )

..

cherries I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you’re inspirational in the very best meaning of the word Flowers
ella I concur totally. I’m myself here and say things as I do in RL. Sometimes a RL girlfriend needs help shopping for a special occasion and I’m the one who they come to for that. Love a RL shopping trip.
laska you always make me laugh, you’ve such a way with words Grin thank you for that
never your enabling is legendary but without it I wouldn’t have considered or discovered so many lovely things. I wouldn’t have dared try the floaty top I posted today without seeing it on you first. I would have just admired it from afar thinking it would look dreadful on me. And the shoes! Hadn’t even seen them till you pointed them out

All the other Ladies, fab contributions from each and every one of you!

Good night. Will continue with the fabulousness tomorrow Wink

dontcallmelen · 08/08/2018 20:58

Yy the friendliness & support, also its fun seeing pics of real people in the clothes, have always loved fashion & even though I don’t buy that much from hush I don’t feel excluded.

Laska5772 · 08/08/2018 20:59

What i really hate though is people (like my DM and DSF) who insist that 'its all self-inflicted'... well yes trich is . in that its hair pulling but its not like you WANT to do it .. Hmm

It is different of course to having Alopecia

anyway rant over ,,
