Today is Meghan's birthday. And she did look lovely, and very relaxed and happy in the pictures.

TokyoSushi · 04/08/2018 22:51

Just to agree that the brides dress was absolutely beautiful for the welling. I wasn't particularly keen on Meghan's dress today, I'm usually a big fan I drove 4 hours to Windsor for the wedding but not sure it was quite right for a wedding.

TokyoSushi · 04/08/2018 22:51

🙄 wedding obviously, what even is welling?!

Watchingtheworldgoby · 04/08/2018 22:58

I think it is only an English thing not to wear dark clothes to a summer wedding. I have never heard anyone saying this anywhere else.

In the US and the continent, it is standard. I think she looks amazing.

Quantumblue · 05/08/2018 00:32

I think Meghan is beautiful but I don't like this dress. Too dark, just not wedding guest enough.
Eugenie's dress is really lovely without the jacket.

BubblesBuddy · 05/08/2018 06:45

The dress is fine but the top and the hat being the same (black or blue?) are too much. I don’t know why the hat didn’t pick out a colour from the skirt within the embellishment. It seemed a bit too all-over dark with her hair.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 05/08/2018 06:56

I also absolutely loved the bride's dress. One of the loveliest I have ever seen. Also very apt given she's called Daisy Smile

Must be hard for a bride in these circumstances. Fairly normal people (compared to royalty!) and yet you know you're going to be papped on your wedding day. Puts extra pressure on I imagine.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/08/2018 07:46

A distant cousin of mine had her wedding on the front page of several newspapers as she was friends with Pippa and all the Middletons, including Kate, attended her wedding. Michael even walked her down the aisle!

I remember that wedding (I think).
How much extra security was needed?

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/08/2018 08:15

No idea. I only met that side of the family very briefly and lost touch with them a long time ago - rather a shame in retrospect!

Great, it does.

You can see that the blue panelling continues down only one side of the skirt. The khaki panelling starts at waist length and this makes the dress a bit more lighter.

I love the bicycle - bet he needed a shower and a change of clothes after that!

Clionba · 05/08/2018 08:22

Thanks for those pictures Vanilla. Daisy looks so pretty, that's a lovely veil.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/08/2018 08:26

I think Meghan wore that hat previously - to Ascot?

Eugenie's dress looks even worse without the jacket - why the ventilation flaps? The neckline isn't flattering and the poor girl is in need of a Mumsnet bra intervention!

I just think the bride is gorgeous . There is such a lovely vibe about the couple too.

Quantumblue · 05/08/2018 08:28

The bride's dress, flowers and veil are completely lovely!
Meghan's dress is just too dark for the sunshine

petrolpump28 · 05/08/2018 08:57

dont the royals have people who do that sort of thing?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/08/2018 09:04

I just have to say how beautiful the bride was. I think she is quite young ( so unusual these days) and I think her dress suited her perfectly. I just loved the vibe: joy & naturalness

Meghan, on first inspection, I thought she was wearing a dress like Beatrice did to ascot, the central panel made it look like a babygro with the poppers undone.
However, up close the colours were really pretty. As pp have said it’s just an English thing to wear pastels to a wedding. I personally found her dress too dark and a bit casual. It looked like very smart office wear with a pretty hat plopped on top. Slightly incongruent. However being Meghan she looked beautiful. I also loved her makeup; she does it so well. I just think she has done her best to not detract from the bride.

I also have to say how incredibly handsome Harry is looking these days. Especially in the morning suit & dark glasses. Marriage has been the making of him. He always look like William & Kate’s spare wheel. Now he is Meghan’s protector.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/08/2018 09:19

Just found this gorgeous picture of Eugenie from Harper’s Bazaar in 2016. She really suits these ethereal fabrics.
I am looking forward to her wedding with a mixture of hope & dread....

@petrolpump28 Not sure, the poor lady from Rigby & Peller mentioned HM in her biography and had the royal warrant taken off her. Bit harsh as it wasn't like she revealed HM's cup size!

Agree @CurlyWurlyTwirly, Harry looks so happy these days - it's clear that he adores Meghan and it's lovely to see.

I loved the bride's dress - daisies for Daisy. In the bouquet and all down the bodice - gorgeous and very summery and sweet. One of my DDs is a Daisy (7 years younger than Jenks) so i'm very biased :)

Meghan looks lovely. I've decided i think Meghan is one of those rare people who really truly could wear a bin bag and look fantastic. She always looks lovely. The only real discussion is just a matter of do we personally like the outfit or not. I found it a bit dingy with the dark accessories (lighter hat bag and shoes would have lifted it all) and pleats and block colour makes me think of '80s fashion. (but that's my problem and might be something to do with my age Grin)

WipsGlitter · 05/08/2018 10:08

I agree that it looks like smart office wear though.

lightonthewater · 05/08/2018 10:42

Yes, totally agree. He so deserves to be happy. It's just a shame that Meghan's family aren't like Kate's. It would have been lovely for him to have a second, normal family to be a part of.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/08/2018 10:53

Doria seemed lovely though. She's not been seen since the wedding but if the rumours about Meghan being in the US recently are true then I assume she was visiting her.
