I really really NEED these

shopafrolic · 14/09/2018 14:19

Love the whole look on that coat link Stokey

Longislandicetee · 14/09/2018 14:20

Yesterday was awesome. Dh and i a lovely lunch in Mayfair. Fuelled by the cheeky glass of lunchtime wine, I walked up the road to Oxford Street for a spot of shopping.Grin

I stopped off at Russell & Bromley first. I loved loved loved these wedge heel ankle boots. Unfortunately the 36s were just a little too tight and the 37s were way to loose, especially around the ankle. I was totally gutted as they didn't do them in 36.5s. It's one of the reasons i shop in R&B, they do a lot of half sizes. I wanted a practical cross body bag for days out with kids. I bought one 2 years ago, but it doesn't have enough zips. I quite liked this bag but ended up buying it in it in brown as it's more versatile. I sent pics of me wearing it to Shop and she said that it's a Mulberry rip off. Fine by me as it's about half the price!Grin This crossbody bag looked terrific but i didn't think it was very practical so I passed.

Then i went to Selfridges. I bought Chloé Faye clutch bag. I had only seen it online, but oh my word....Instalove. Also got this Max Mara jumper and this Alexander McQueen dress. Finally, I went to have a bra fitting and got this Simone Perele set and this Chantelle set. I stopped off in between each floor for a break. The champagne bar on the ground floor is great (surrounded by handbags!) but the Corner place on the 2nd floor was lovely for a tea break.

I got to return to dh's office and dump all the bags on him to carry home as i had a girlie trip to the theatre to see Dreamgirls.Grin

shopafrolic · 14/09/2018 14:27

Sounds like the best day ever Blingy - particularly love the clutch and McQueen. Stunning.

Longislandicetee · 14/09/2018 14:28

One of my almost buys was this Moynat bag in red but weirdly i could hear Dry's voice in my head asking me whether it was the wine telling me to spend £3,350 on a mini handbag and i decided to step away. I figured voices in head was probably a good sign that i shouldn't buy.Grin

Everyonelovessparkles · 14/09/2018 14:48

Wow blingy sounds like you had a great day! By the way on the R&B website it is howling half sizes for those boots so maybe they just didn’t have them in store? Pretty poor customer service If that is the case.... The AMcq dress is very ‘you’!

Love those patent boots shop. The green ones are a nice shape but I’d never manage that heel.

I’m with you stokey in needing a comfy heel height for everyday use. I did try a pair of Kurt Geiger slouchy boots last year but the heel was just too high for me and I never found a similar style with a lower heel. I do like that midi skirt and slouchy boot look though too. The green coat is nice and i think isn’t too vibrant that you couldn’t wear it with a variety of colours and styles.

Sounds like you had a good trying on session fedup. Sometimes it’s good to try new shapes and styles to get us out of our comfort zone, but I wonder whether the new styles would end up still being over looked for the old favourites?

Nice buys queenc. The pink blouse is lovely. Thanks for the j crew recommendation. The hush jumper is a keeper. I got a small and whilst it fits fine, in an ideal world I would have liked it to be a bit more fitted at the bottom, but I think an xs would be too clingy. I need to have a summer clear out as quite a few of my favourite dresses look tired now.

QueenCyan · 14/09/2018 16:27

So glad you got the Chloé blibgy. And I agree, 3.5k for that other one is too much.

shop you have to get those green boots. I couldn’t wear them but I have long lusted over that shape of boot. I really love the dark green around and would love a top in that colour but I find with green it has to be the absolutely perfect winter shade of pine/dark emerald otherwise it looks off. Whereas with other colours I can quite happily get away with spring or summer tones.

The top shop jeans were the straight and cropped straight. Both very high waisted with massive pockets on the arse just like jeans 25/30 years ago. Instead of making me feel trendy I just felt instantly frumpy.

blingy the changing body is really getting me down. My figure has often subtly changed but in the past year it’s changed so much. From losing weight during a period of stress and since then I’ve gained it and more. I’ve accepted that now I’m on hrt that I’m never going to be the weight I was on my wedding day (which is always what I measure myself against!) but it still depresses me.

Hi all

DS is asleep not on me, so I'm attempting to do a post with some links - woohoo! (He is 1 month old tomorrow, sob)
DH bought me the set of 3 of these bracelets for my birthday. Today is the first day I'm wearing them as I got the small size and my wrists are only just about back to normal.
Like queenC I have also been buying straight leg jeans from Topshop. These are, judging by the name, the ones I have been wearing for the last 2 years so I've got them in a size 30 to wear while I can't fit into the 28. I also got these without the raw hem to try, I'd rather have a hemmed pair but the originals are cut so well for me and I'm not sure these are the same cut.
Just ordered some luxe loungewear/athleisure wear - t-shirt and trackie bums which I had had my eye on at full price.
And did an &OS order - elasticated cropped trousers and purple top. I think cupro is a good fabric for me because it can look quite like silk but is machine washable.
That's it for now! Everything in a medium/12 instead of my usual 10.

Blingy what a fab day you must have had, love the clutch and the McQueen dress is so you. Definitely get the R&B boots from the website!

Stokey shame about the boots but they definitely look a bit high for that much walking.

One sorry to hear you have to move. Hopefully it'll be better than you think, and maybe you can come back in the future :)

I wish I was coming to the MU, it's just not the best timing though. Next time!

Stokey · 14/09/2018 17:39

QueenC Thanks for the kind comments, I'm not that cool most of the time!

Love those green boots for you Shop. Sadly green coat is only left in biggest size, I keep trying to work out what she's wearing underneath it - mini?

Amazing buys Blingy, sounds like you're making the most of this week.

I wanted to go shopping today but am full of cold so ended up vegging on the sofa instead - my second week of having Fridays off and am loving it.

I'm not quite ready to give up on summer everyone - 23 next week apparently!

Gorgeous bracelets Blair and your casual smart buys are perfect for this time. Our school fair's on the same day as the MU so will have to see on the day - if I make it, it will be mid-afternoon.

shopafrolic · 14/09/2018 18:20

QueenC they are fab but how to style them. I fear they’d go the way of my pink boots which ended up at the charity shop.,,...

shopafrolic · 14/09/2018 18:22

Stokey she’s in jeans and slouchy boots.
Blair I love the colour of that top

Longislandicetee · 14/09/2018 18:25

Oh fab Everyone! I can't believe that she didn't tell that they had the 36.5 in stock.Shock She wasn't a very good assistant, kept trying to point out things to me that i didn't want and then went away for ages when she thought i wasn't going to buy anything, then came sniffing back again when another assistant came to talk to me.Hmm Anyway, i have ordered the 36.5 now so thank you for being so eagle eyed!

Shop, those green boots are amazing! You should sooo get them. No, i wouldn't be trotting about in them, as I have spent the last 6 days seriously suffering for my heel foolishness and vanity last weekend!Sad

Blair, lovely to hear from you. Those bracelets are lovely! And wow what a good bargain on those trackie bottoms. Glad you're enjoying cuddles with your ds.Smile

Poor you Stokey, hope you feel better soon. I would love to have Fridays off but I know that i would end up getting sucked back into work, so I am very envious of you!

Thanks for the bag love, i feel like it ought to be taken out on a date tonight, but sadly we are vegging at home tonight!!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 14/09/2018 20:14

my pink glittery dr martens mary jane shoes arrived this morning and i LOVE them!! even in the children sizes they are half a size too big but unfortunately didn't come in the half size i would need. it's not too much of an issue though, after all, i can't abide having shoes that pinch even if they look good!

was up all night last night with pain issues so very tired right now as i've tried not to sleep through the day to get me back on track

DryWhiteagainW · 14/09/2018 22:25

Blair I love those bracelets. Like you, I like gold.
Blingy love how you heard my voice Grin
Big oarty tomorrow down south. Think I'll take 2 dresses, 2pairs of shoes etc. Just. Ant decide what to wear and am taking the car....also need to keep up my packing standards Grin

Ladies I need your help!
Things are still awful with (D)H and I'm not sure if it can be salvaged which breaks my heart.
However we have agreed to try and go out I suppose like date nights to see if we can get the spark back that has clearly been lost (sadly more from his perspective than mine). I know I may be wasting my time but I want to look my absolute best.
What do I wear??
We are going out for drinks, nice bars so a good excuse to dress up.
I'm thinking these heels with either black skinny jeans or I have some ponte back/leather front leggings from a year or so ago that are very flattering and a glam top, maybe something like this Black top.
But would appreciate any help to dress me!
I'm shortish (5ft 4) now a size 8-10 ( have lost 1.5 stone since this all kicked off, the only positive!). Blonde hair, a winter colour wise and I normally wear a lot of black.
I'm doing it for me as much as him, I need to feel confident and glam!

Stokey · 15/09/2018 08:26

Viva so sorry to hear you're having a tough time with your husband. I think the outfit you suggested looks cool. If you wanted something a bit different, there are loads of jumpsuits out there. This Warehouse one looks good. Or a short evening dress is always a winner with my Dh.

Blingy I may have checked my Blackberry before firmly turning it off so I couldn't hear it pinging any more!

Kitty saw this Chanelesque jacket and thought of you.

QueenCyan · 15/09/2018 09:29

viva I’ve been thinking of you so sorry to hear things are still bad. Your outfit seems great but I would add in a coloured bag to break up the black. Size and colouring wise you’re the same as me. Whatever you wear you just want to feel amazing. Do you like nail polish and if so coukd you get a manicure (always looks so much better than when I do it myself). Eyebrows sone etc. It’s the little things like that that make me feel amazing. And also nice underwear Wink. But in all seriousness, try not to put too much pressure on the date (easier said than done I know) because otherwise there’s the risk of disappointment. Also to get the spark back, have you tried daytime dates such as going for a walk or bowling or even just meeting for coffee in the middle of the day? There’s just a bit less pressure than a full on night out.

shop can’t believe the pink boots when to the charity’s shop. How come you never wore them? I think the green boots would look fab with jeans.

I’m in bed with a hangover and sore throat so I’m going to do some browsing.....

QueenCyan · 15/09/2018 09:40

How beautiful is this skirt

blair forgot to say hello!!! Love the purple top especially.

VivaVegas · 15/09/2018 10:08

Thanks ladies, it's been the worst few months of my life and I've been through tough times before.
I had my eyebrows done yesterday which I do anyway and have gel nails booked for the day before which again I do periodically anyway.
I have a few nights out with friends planned so can reuse what I buy but it's hard feeling good about yourself at times like this.
The next 'date' we go on is going to be during the day as trying to mix things up a bit in s bid to get out of the rut (which in my eyes is just real life) but in Hs eyes not so much!

QueenCyan · 15/09/2018 10:11

I’m not being inspired by much but who’d like this?

QueenCyan · 15/09/2018 10:24

I’ve given up on designer stuff and now trawling the high street (I will get out of bed soon,).

lovely colour jumper

DryWhiteagainW · 15/09/2018 10:44

Viva the outfit is spot on, I’ll second nails and Lippy to add colour. Good luck. So sorry.

Shop I meant to say I adore the green boots, but sadly agree (through experience) that CPW might not be high.

Teenagers are great for honest opinions. I struggle with skinny jean tucked into ankle boit look (am being good and currently wearing the look though)....has got out of proportion. A vignette suggested rightly that I may “be overthinking it”

Took DD for dinner last night. She was. Wearing the look perfectly (damn her long legs)
Me” talk me through the tuck in thing....did I you roll or tuck?”
DD “i just put my jeans on then the boots”
hmm
