We’ve just been wandering round Glasgow today, I seem to have spent an awful lot of money on coffees and distraction shopping for DD. She’s up to 90 and all her friends are away home for holidays, her last day at work till she’s better was yesterday, so keeping her distracted and calm is currently falling to me. Bought her a few tops and bikinis for her holiday ‘after’ to keep her focussed beyond Friday. Feel-good movie and takeaway tonight.

My original order got cancelled thanks to my credit card company fucking up so had to do a smaller reorder until that’s sorted out. So today I received the black striped Marina (the Sophia had gone oos again), the faded star jeans and the lacey jumper as recced by Laska.

I’d tried the Marina when it came out and returned because I liked it but didn’t love it and thought it was too expensive - I also didn’t quite know how to style it. I’m pretty sure the material has changed since the first time - this feels much stiffer and it hasn’t creased in the packaging, halleluyah! I also went a size smaller and it fits and sits better at the waist as a result. So, keeper this time around.

The star jeans I had also tried before as I loved them in theory but they didn’t work on me in practice. My normal size gave me the worst, incredibly obvious, camel toe and the next size up gave a weird crotch-pouch effect. I’ve lost a few pounds since then so thought I’d give them another go just in case. Result! No more camel toe so they are staying this time, and at a much better price too.

Lacey jumper - immediate love. It goes perfectly with my Bryce pinstripe culottes and the star jeans and probably quite a few other things (I won’t be wearing it without another layer underneath though as it’s quite short and I don’t fancy flashing my not-at-all sixpack abs every time I raise my arms).

If my new card ever turns up then I’ll probably still give the Liv midi dress a whirl and possibly the red shirtdress from the sale if it’s still available.

My leopard print Mia dress finally arrived, was so excited but it doesn’t do anything for me Sad was huge on top but a bit tight round hips/thighs which made it all baggy and saggy round my tummy

Hope you and your DD have a lovely evening @ilovecherries

neveradullmoment99 · 10/07/2018 19:06

That's a shame Gilbert. I love mine but I know what you mean. It is neat around the thighs and hips and it is quite big around the chest area but you might want to try adjusting the straps. I put them up fully and its fine and less loose at the bust. I was unsure at first when I tried it on but I really like it. Have only tried on so far as I am keeping it for my holiday.

Tried on the striped Piperwhen I got home. Can’t keep it as the chevrons are not aligned at the seams! I know this would drive me nuts and I would never wear it because it would irritate me so much. So back that goes - annoying has have been stalking it for weeks waiting for one to come back in stock.

Laska5772 · 10/07/2018 19:23

Sort of envious of you all... (only sort of !!)..I am going to have about 8 parcels of hush and Boden stuff to try on when I get home this weekend....but emailed Hish and they have agreed to refund me over the return date as some ( maybe most of it? ) will go back

Gilbert82 · 10/07/2018 19:29

I’ll give it another go later and try adjusting the straps. I really wanted to love it (was planning on wearing at the weekend to a local summer festival)

dontcallmelen · 10/07/2018 19:55

Has anyone got the holly cropped jeans Just wondering about sizing do they come up quite big or fairly true sizes?

MinesaPinot · 10/07/2018 20:12

ilovecherries I haven't tried it on as I ordered it today and hadn't seen it in store previously. I could only get it in a 12, but I've figured that those sort of dresses tend to come up large so hopefully it will be fine. Have had an email saying that it has been shipped, so will report in when I get it. I thought the striped version was lovely, but I particularly wanted the black.

Ellapaella · 10/07/2018 20:44

@dontcallmelen Dave has those jeans and I think she felt they weren't as generous as the star jeans.

neveradullmoment99 · 10/07/2018 20:44

@dontcallmelen the holly cropped jeans are true to size but neat across the waist. Dave has them and have noticed she has commented on the neatness at the waist. I bought the holly's in a 12 and returned them and agree with Dave

They are superstretchy but hold tight if you get me. The waist has little or no give and don't give after time [ I also have the black washed ones from seasons ago]

Laska I am looking forward to your reviews and any pics that you post Grin Would love to see the chambray skirt. Think it will really suit you.

dontcallmelen · 10/07/2018 20:56

Great thank you, will give them a whirl I had to send back the frayed star jeans, they really didn’t look right & the waist was too big I was soooo gutted as the fabric was brilliant.

ilovecherries · 11/07/2018 10:27

Nooooo! It’s chucking it down with rain here, and in true west coast of Scotland style, looks as if it’s here for the duration. Sad. I’m back in Amies and a long sleeve tee shirt.

neveradullmoment99 · 11/07/2018 12:59

Its not that great here.
Very overcast but warm.
I am wearing my hush blush and red star tee today and my grey harems. Placed an order for a few things this morning. Fully intend to return some of it.
So ordered the crochet detail tank. It looks quite neat on the model and no idea of how it goes on, if it pulls on so ordered the small and the medium. The Portobello top in white in a small. The black frayed shorts, star long shorts, burgundy dress that was in the sale - think its called the Jasmine dress. Was very tempted to throw in another pair of harems in black but resisted. Will order them another time.

Just also ordered the ridiculously priced leopard sandals just to try as I have been looking at them constantlyBlush. Think I have WAY too many sandals. They are utterly gorgeous and I cannot justify them so may be returned or I may return everything I have ordered and keep those beauties. We will see. [ having shoppers guilt now] They say they wont be delivered until Friday though. They are so beautiful.

Cool sandals, nonetheless, never. I am kicking myself I missed out on the black ones. Might have to get some Birkenstocks Arizonas to make up for it (currently living in solver knockoffs from Primark).

Has anyone tried the bikinis? I am tempted by the underwired halterneck. I like the fact that you can tie the back strap, this should give more flexibility to those of us with more boobage although a bit trickier to put on by oneself perhaps! I would probably try the top in a 16 though, to give enough cup coverage. Hmmm.

neveradullmoment99 · 11/07/2018 14:31

They are nice but way over the top in price. They will have to be perfect at that price. If I don't try them, I will regret it and I could take the chance of more reductions but I am away for the next few wks and chances are I will miss out. Then I will kick myself. Anway, we will see. That's what happens when most of the kids are out and I have nothing much to do except browse the hush website.
Sun looks like its making an appearance. Maybe go for a mooch around the garden.

Miffy I have the silver ones. I am driving my dh crazy as they squeak constantly!!! I told him to stop his moaning and that I was wearing them regardless. They are not THAT noisy!

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 11/07/2018 14:39

Think the squeaking is down to the rather robust leather!!!

We are circuiting coffee shops again here, having both had various bits waxed for ‘after’. These sandals are just beautiful, Never. Stupid question - how is one meant to walk in slides? Ie bending the foot as normal or lifting the entire foot while holding on with toes. I did try FF slides but the slapping drove me bonkers, but just struck me in was maybe because I was bending my foot.

neveradullmoment99 · 11/07/2018 15:47

Some slap on the foot more than others. I remember a thread on here about appropriate work shoes and someone saying that the slapping from 'flip flops' drove them nuts. I find them so comfortable. I love slides. I just walk as usual in them. Because they are weighty, the bottome doesn't tend to slap up on to your heel, your foot tends to move more in them. They aren't sore or anything. Why don't you try a pair of Birkenstock or similar? The hush ones are quite heavy so not sure they would suit you in that sense. I just love the easiness of just slipping them on and not having to bend to fasten ha ha. I am so lazy.
You could try the clarks outlet:
I had these and they are wide and comfy. They got rather worn on holiday so had to bin them. They do them in camo, silver and a pinky colour. I had the silver and absolutely loved them but they only have small sizes and a 5 left in the silver.

I love flip flops - so comfy I live in mine in the summer.
I had a pair of Birkenstocks that I bought when eldest ds was a toddler. They were so comfy and lasted for years. I finally replaced them like for like last year and my new ones are just not as comfortable. They feel harder and I can feel them pulling on the top of my foot when I walk in them. I don't know if they've changed the design slightly but it's so disappointing. I have such wide feet I find it really hard to find decent sandals.
Love my saltwaters but they are just a tiny bit too long, a size smaller would be too small though, if only they came in half sizes!
