Seeing as the Spencer wedding thread in S&B was so popular, here's a thread to discuss all royal fashion.

(If we could stick to critiquing the clothes rather than the women wearing them then that would be great!)

You can actually see the outline of the bra in that grey dress, it's too small and Meg is so tiny anyway! Looks so uncomfortable.

nervousnails · 11/07/2018 20:08

Where does Camilla get her clothes from? I have never seen any info on that.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/07/2018 20:14

I think Megs might make a Wimbledon appearance tomorrow or Saturday to watch her friend Serena play. Kate probably will too as she's the patron of the AELTC.

Does harry only own blue suits?
he would look dashing in charcoal for a change

Clionba · 11/07/2018 20:21

Harry looks nice in that very pale grey jacket.

beanaseireann · 11/07/2018 20:59

I think Harry's blue suit in Irelabd was the one he wore to the christening that matched Williams.
Pippa's espadrilles are godawful.
Sophie's dress was too long. Her hair was lovely though. She has really upped her game. No longer a second rate Diana clone.

mathanxiety · 11/07/2018 21:47

Pippa's dress looks very nice but those espadrilles kill it. There's far too much black ribbon flapping around.

James Middleton - at those trews!

Sophie Wessex's dress is ruined by the black bits on the sleeves imo. It's too busy a style for Wimbledon. Also, I think she wore the dress to Ascot, or one very similar (I remember those sleeves from somewhere).

Pastels and black is not a good combination.

Camilla looked nice - simple dress with few busy details, colour that suit her - the polka dots make it summery and relaxed, but those nude pumps ...

I like the grey dress that MM wore but she should have had a smaller bag or a clutch. A little boxy handbag would have been nice. The big bag looked too officey - as if she had her shoes for running to the train later in there, along with her lunch and her yoga stuff and bottle of water.

The neutral/muted colours look really good on MM imo, and I include in that category the oxblood leather jacket she wore at the Invictus Games. Bright colours would completely swamp her complexion. Also, British people in general seem to have a taste for bright, bold colours whereas Americans (American women anyway) tend to go for more muted tones. In the US, muted, subtle colours are a class marker.

Apparently Kate isn't going to the tennis because she's on maternity leave. It's ridiculous that that counts as a royal engagement! It's not written work is it, she's not chopping the strawberries or umpiring the match

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 11/07/2018 21:56

Meghan's grey dress is a beautiful shape, but does not fit well on her torso. From the outline of her bra it looks like she might need some "intervention" too.

BagelGoesWalking · 11/07/2018 22:06

I love the colours MM wears, grey, olive etc. Very classy and they suit her.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/07/2018 22:19

Well she's worn 5 different outfits in the past 36 hours and I'd say that apart from the grey dress they were all hits. And even the grey dress was lovely, it was just the fit that was the problem.

You have got to laugh haven’t you! Attending Wimbledon counts as a royal engagement. Makes me wonder what else counts as a royal engagement. Think it’s taking the piss a bit!

Clionba · 12/07/2018 06:11

I'd love "sitting in the Royal Box at Wimbledon, chauffeured there and back" to be classified as a working day for me!

Laiste · 12/07/2018 08:06

She seems to actively enjoy the tennis.

What if she wanted to go? Not allowed because it's classed as work?

beanaseireann · 12/07/2018 09:13

How did Meghan walk in those heels on the cobbles in Trinity ? Shock
I thought she looked particularly lovely in the outfit at the reception at the British Ambassador's residence.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/07/2018 09:58

That's weird about Kate and Wimbledon as she is fairly sporty and a tennis fan. Unless she thinks she'll be accused of picking and choosing only the jammy events to attend when she's on maternity leave!

That's ringing a bell ... that did happen in the past with her didn't it?

ajandjjmum · 12/07/2018 10:20

Although it must be lovely to be in the Royal Box - as someone well-known, I would think you get fed-up of being cornered by others wanting your attention. Having said that, when we were there last week (Centre Court, not Royal Box Grin) there were very few faces that I recognised.

Whitesea · 12/07/2018 10:43

They will photograph her - yes. But that is it. It is hardly hard work. She could go as a spectator if she really wanted to go but seriously classifying it as an 'engagement' is taking the piss completely. Cutting ribbons and showing up at something is not hard..

William and Kate will be content to let Meghan and Harry do the public work I'm sure until KP realise they are losing popularity so will change that around and manufacture a few photos of the children to put them back into the limelight. My impression is that everything is calculated to show 'enough' of them to keep the public happy but not doing so much that might make William snap! which I think would take very little

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/07/2018 11:17

Interesting point @Whitesea. Harry has being doing more engagements than William in the past couple of years (granted, William had his air ambulance job at the same time). His AIDS charity and setting up the Invictus Games seem to have been his passion projects.

I'm also interested to see what Meghan will take on. There hasn't been an announcement of what charities she's going to be involved with yet but, given her past interests, I'd hope a women's rights charity is in the mix. If the media start to think she's doing more than Kate then yes, the Cambridges may come in for criticism.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 12/07/2018 15:54

I think Meghan will be doing the leg work right now, because let’s face it, she’s heading for 37, and Harry is desperate for kids ( so sweet!) so they’re not going to be hanging around in the baby making.

Kate will take over when Meghan is a new mum.

Clionba · 12/07/2018 16:56

Harry and Meghan are doing a commonwealth tour in the autumn, so she may want to delay a pregnancy until after that.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 12/07/2018 17:10

Oh yes there was something about some disease in the area they are traveling to, and you are supposed to avoid pregnancy for 6 months after that.
Anyway, as m&h didn’t live together before October, it would be nice to have a year or so just being a couple.

SleepingStandingUp · 12/07/2018 18:06

Think is there's a raft of old ones who are working really hard but within a few years that may not be the case and they'll both have to pick up the work.
I think concentrating on the kids / marriage before he takes the throne isn't such a bad thing and I'm sure if they wanted them to do more, they'd be told to so it.

Harry has it worked out, he's got his charity in Africa and his Incivitus games, a few other bits and he's got a comparatively decent work load.

K and W seen to do now bit work although once she's back off m leave hopefully they'll all step up with their mental health charity work

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/07/2018 18:21

Just saw that both Meghan and Kate will be attending the ladies final and Wimbledon on Saturday and both Cambridges will attend the men's on Sunday.
