Evening All!

SotE #1 and #2 are obscure things from 4160Ts. The Enchanted Forest is a huge mossy chypre. I don't know if it's cedar or tree moss but there i quite a shrill buzzy note that I find a bit disturbing, but it seems to be a heart note as it is only dominates for an hour or so. Once that fades it's lovely . Rich, smooth and mossy. MrsR - I think you would love this.

Also Elven Garden: a vetiver, floral-lawn style. They should release this for sure - I like it much more than Ealing Green.

ttprw · 21/06/2018 21:34

Oooh sounds lovely

Judydreamsofhorses · 21/06/2018 21:41

SOTD is JHAG Mad Madame. Bad mood because DP’s mum popped round unexpectedly this evening. I hate poppers. i was already in my “lounge clothes” at 6.30, no makeup, glasses - I am sure she thinks I am a total slob. Last summer holidays she kept popping in unexpectedly about 10.30 in the morning, and I would be in my lounge wear (I don’t actually sleep in it), with unwashed hair, watching Homes Under the Hammer. She retired last year and I think she’s a bit fed up - I really do like her, but just want a bit of notice.

3DSpex · 21/06/2018 21:57

😆 Judy. I have a ‘friendly’ neighbour who knocks around for a chat sometimes and I swear she must think I hang about in a onesie with my hair in a scruffy bun 24/7.

She popped round a couple of days ago at about 6pm. I was in yoga pants and a vest with no bra underneath, drinking wine while Home & Away blared loudly from the TV. Classy 😆

I’m sure I smelled nice, though Wink

ttprw · 21/06/2018 21:58

I live in my pjs!

You come to my house unexpectedly you take me as you find me! 😁

I also always smell incredible 🤣

Judydreamsofhorses · 21/06/2018 22:05

3D I lived on my own for years and just didn’t answer the door if I wasn’t expecting anyone, whereas DP will happily engage with chuggers and religious callers. I want to be sociable on my own terms!

BlueKittens · 21/06/2018 22:26

I’m now in L’Artisan Tea for two (thank you teta). It’s wonderful- smokey tea, it’s a bit lapsong suchong esque. It’s got quite a bit of bergamot in the top notes. There’s quite a bit of spice. My DH just came in and said it smells great- he’d wear it.

Yes the jasmine eta cigarette was from me MrsLucas I really wanted to like it but it just smelt of dirty nappies on my skin - jasmine tends to go all indolic on me.

BlueKittens · 21/06/2018 22:31

Just looked up the notes on fragrantica for tea for two. Got everything except the cinnamon (now I know I can smell that too- quite clearly actually so not sure how I missed it)

UnnecessaryFennel · 22/06/2018 07:10

SOTD is Une Rose de Kandahar, after all the Une Rose chat yesterday! I'm still not completely convinced by this; there's a definite 'johnsons baby lotion' vibe that I can decide whether I enjoy or not.

Have been emailing Sarah Mc about my work event which is in a matter of days now, and am getting really nervous! Mainly about which 4160 to wear...

In other news, the 'anthracite blue' version of the Martha Dress arrived and it looks bloody lovely on, so ner ner to all teh haterzzz Grin

ttprw · 22/06/2018 07:14

I'm sure it looks great fennel

Another busy day.

I hate summer term!!

Sotd next eau nude

MrsLucas · 22/06/2018 07:33

Are you doing a making or sniffing workshop with work Fennel?

teta · 22/06/2018 08:55

In one of floofys samples today - Sel Marin from James Heeley. How I love this 💕.
I’ve also ordered a sample pack from Rook😁🐑.
I’m really excited to try the green forestry ones for want of a better description.
I can’t remember who mentioned the Caron set, but I returned it unopened to Tk Maxx.I read the reviews and wasn’t really sure it was my thing.

positivepineapple · 22/06/2018 09:17

4160T are having a sale starting next week.

Buy two get one free on the 30ml sizes - most expensive one is free! Grin

OCSock · 22/06/2018 09:52

Postman has just been, bringing Rook sample pack of EdP dabbers. Forest on the left wrist, just a single dab, and Neroli on the right.

Initial reaction is that both open just as one would expect. However, the first burst of zestiness has gone from the neroli (and I was really hoping for more longevity after the rave review I read yesterday).

The Forest began with a lot of pine and resin, and is also softening quickly.

I'm going to re-read the notes, and walk SockDog to see where they both take me. Has anyone else's packet arrived? (Sorry not to namecheck, but I can't scroll back from here because I read these threads flipped.)

OCSock · 22/06/2018 09:55

Coffee, Teta, and Blue?

Congratulations to Fennel on braving a second dress after the disparaging remarks!

PlausibleSuit · 22/06/2018 10:00

I think mine might have come Sock but I haven't checked the post yet.

Recording videos for online client this morning. Feels weird...

SOTD is Mugler Alien.

BlueKittens · 22/06/2018 11:04

Ooh Rook are speedy

SOTD is Prada Infusions D’Iris Cedre

Shake off the haterzz Fennel bet you look lovely in your Martha dress Wine

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 22/06/2018 11:42

SOTD is Shazam it's my favourite of the sample set so far, a woody, earthy tone

3DSpex · 22/06/2018 11:59

SOTD is YSL Manifesto L'Elixir.

I'm feeling a bit fragile ('women's problems', as my granny would have said [gron]). and this is a comfort scent for me. Soothed me through a 2.5 hour meeting this morning.

Hollybollybingbong · 22/06/2018 12:00

Many thanks to Mumsnet who have given me permission to post a link to a course I thought Perfumistas might find interesting.

Hello Perfumistas, I usually lurk in the Education pages but have recently changed jobs and am now lucky enough to work closely with Orchadia, a perfume consultancy.

Orchadia is run by Penny Williams who has been very supportive as I learn the ropes and offered me the opportunity to sit the Perfume Training course offered by their training division, TIPA. They provide specialist online courses relating to fragrance and fragranced products. Penny has a real passion for fragrance which is contagious, I am a keen Mumsnetter and have offered and been given support on the site, it’s the combination of these elements that made me want to share the course details (I promise I’m not in marketing!)

“The course is ideal for people involved in selling and retailing of perfume, and those in a product development role where perfume is a key feature. It can also be beneficial for people serious about a fragrance based career or with specific interest in the sense of smell and perfume.”

Please click here www.perfume-training.com/Advanced-Perfume-Training-mnPAGE.html to see further details and access the TIPA site.

OCSock · 22/06/2018 12:57

You too, Plausible? I think I deserve double enabling points (and possibly an extra large discount from Rook) for contributing to yesterday's sales.

SockJr has returned from C4, saying it was as appalling as he feared; yippee, all done and off on the lash. WIBU to suggest adults stay out of town centres tonight to avoid the post A level revels?

Yes -- I will get back to Rook, probably later this afternoon.

PlausibleSuit · 22/06/2018 13:56

Yes, my Rook samples have arrived too. Your enabling badge should have real diamonds in it, Sock Grin Had a quick sniff and so far Forest and Undergrowth seem promising.

SwedishEdith · 22/06/2018 17:39

www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemId=195061/Jeanne-en-Provence---Un-Matin-dans-la-Roseraie---Rose--Angelique/Unlisted-Brand/Fragrances

For anyone who likes roses, I picked up this for £4 in TK Maxx. Seemed fair enough for a blind buy. Very pretty. Not sure it'd be long lasting.

MrsLucas · 22/06/2018 17:57

Flowers & Cake to Calm for sending me such a fabulous and interesting package - has made my weekend Smile. Trying to do justice to the precious contents not spraying myself liberally in all of them in a fit of wild excitement.

Two conclusions so far; Casaque is possibly one of the most beautiful things I have ever smelt (up there with Bois De Violette and vintage L'Heure Bleue), and I really like mastic/lentisque notes.

UnnecessaryFennel · 22/06/2018 19:35

Hmmm, so the Rook samples are worth buying? Very tempting indeed. I particularly like the sound of Thurible and Amber. I'm soooo skint this month though, it's not even funny (as ds would say) looks askance at Martha dresses

MrsL, what is the Casaque? More details needed please! The thing with Sarah McC is a sort-of sniffing thing, rather than a making thing. It's all a bit left-field for me (and also for my colleagues) but I am very excited about it.The thing is, you could all come too, and it's free! I can't say any more without outing myself but if you pm me I can give more details.

The 4160 3-for-2 sale is going to be the death of me...

Sock hope mini-sock is ok after the exams and doesn't get into too much trouble tonight Wink

MrStark - you've reminded me to give Shazam! another try. Let us know what you think of the others.

Spex hope you're feeling better Flowers

I've decided I love Une Rose de Kandahar about 8 hours after first application. The drydown is gorgeous; the top and middle a bit oily and odd.
