Thanks shop. I was just reading the ‘how to look expensive in summer’ thread and there was a lot of talk of tan accessories which made me doubt my choice. What is it about the mango bag that you’re not sure about? Only the j crew one does look very similar but just twice the price. It’s also quite difficult to ascertain what colour the straps are too - is the pale one nude, blush pink or light tan? And on the pecan bag is it burnt orange or red? Do you think you would use the bag in subsequent years to justify the cost of the j crew one? I only bought a cheap one from accessorise as wasn't sure if the whole circle bag thing was very much of this season. Sorry, not much help!

shopafrolic · 15/05/2018 15:55

No it is helpful.
The Mango bag handle and clasp are bad faux leather. And at the base of the bag it is held together with two straps, when it closes it just doesn't feel very well aligned and I think over time the front will drop and it may lose it's circle shape. Not sure. Will show DH and see what he thinks.
Blair the Zara shorts in a large are the perfect fit - I love them. Thank you so much (you know what I get like when I'm searching for something that I can't find!). I'll get a lot of wear out of these.

QueenCornflower · 15/05/2018 16:01

Shame about the mango bag shop. Out of the j crew ones I prefer the navy (obviously!) but agree with everyone, not sure it’s wieth £128

Everyonelovessparkles · 15/05/2018 16:20

I guess it depends whether you see the mango one as a one season wonder, in which case does it matter if it’s not top quality? But then £50is still quite pricey for something that isn’t great quality. If it would bug you then maybe send it back? Maybe think about it for a couple of days? Glad the shorts are perfect though!

I think it looks ok in the photos, but if you’re not happy with it IRL then that’s what matters.

My Rae feather basket just arrived and I am so disappointed and feel slightly sick that I’ve spent so much money on something that I don’t really like and can’t return. Sad. It is absolutely massive. It would be impossible to take on a plane as your carry on bag and would be difficult to pack as the base is so round and flat ie not squashable. I know I wanted something big enough for the DC crap, but this is so big I could pack for a weekend away in it and I bet my DS would even fit in it!

shopafrolic · 15/05/2018 16:35

Oh no Everyone I don't think I saw the link for that? Is it personalised?

QueenCornflower · 15/05/2018 16:51

Sorry, had to post quickly without finishing!
wvertyone I personally prefer the white butcthen I don’t like tan. Cheap tan can look cheap so personally I only think looks expensive if it’s real quality stuff. Gutted for you about the bag. Can you use it as a weekend bag.?

shop return it. You don’t love it and it will bug you. If you think cpw will be good enough on the j crew then get it but it seems a lot for what is essentially s summer bag.

QueenCornflower · 15/05/2018 16:54

Wore these dandsls today for the first time properly. My toes are killing me. I think it’s because I’m scrunching them up as despite the ankle ties the shoes don’t feel very secure on. Other than that they’re comfy and I was hoping to wear them to walk to work but not sure I’ll be able to.

QueenCornflower · 15/05/2018 16:55

Ffs, I can’t spell this afternoon. A bad nights sleep and I’m wrecked

Everyonelovessparkles · 15/05/2018 16:58

This is the bag. Yes it’s personalised. I should have looked at the sizing more carefully, I just thought all the large bags were the same size (46cm) whereas this is 64cm.

Also the back looks damaged. But they are trying to tell me this is the ‘natural finish to the handmade weave’. I’m so disappointed Sad (and pissed off).

shop I feel so satisfied for you on the shorts! :) Not sure on the bags, if you aren't happy with the quality of the £50 one then I think £128 on one will be too much to spend. Plus none of the colours the J Crew one comes in look that great. Have you looked at Zara or Accessorize?

Oh no everyone that is really a huge bag. How annoying about the 2 sizes. Could you get something to put inside to make it more useable, like a bag organiser, especially with a zip on top or a drawstring?

QueenCornflower · 15/05/2018 19:06

everyone I’ve got a bag that like that that I bought from holiday a couple of years ago. They’re very bulky to use. You must be gutted.

black for shop

QueenCornflower · 15/05/2018 19:07

I want this one now!!!

QueenCornflower · 15/05/2018 19:12

love this too but not very shop

QueenCornflower · 15/05/2018 19:15

I’m on a roll now. Who knew there were so many circle bags out there?

QueenCornflower · 15/05/2018 19:17

love this too

shopafrolic · 15/05/2018 19:31

Oh QueenC you are brill. Love the back TS one.
You're going to hate me though. I just went to a school thing and took the bag (tags on but tucked away) and 3 people gave good feedback (and DH had also said he liked it) so I'm keeping it Grin

Everyonelovessparkles · 15/05/2018 19:58

Glad you’ve decided about the bag shop Smile.

I know, the bag is a huge white elephant, it’s so disappointing and frustrating. I wanted one for ages and kept looking at them but then never really looked at the finer details. God knows when I’m going to use it, as I can’t take it on holiday, it’s far too big to use if popping to the shops, it’s not really a ‘day out’ bag. The only use it might have is if I take the DC swimming as I could fit all our towels and costumes in it Grin.

FedupNagging · 15/05/2018 20:04

What a shame about the bag Everyone, not surprised you're hacked off. I have a similar bag with short handles (bought in Spain for about 15 euros!) to use on the beach. I stick it in the suitcase then fill it with clothes and pack smaller items around it - it's a must have item for my hols Grin

Shop the J Crew bag is very lovely so may be worth checking out the quality/durability although if they are a one season wonder, is it worth paying the price? Are the Zara shorts the one's with the side zip? Really liked those.

FedupNagging · 15/05/2018 20:08

Ah, just see that the Mango bag is a keeper

QueenCornflower · 15/05/2018 21:32

Glad you decided you like the bag shop.
Inspired by everyone I’ve just checked out the looking expensive thread. Shoot me now-I can’t think of anything worse than wearing crisp white dresses, linen trousers or tan sandals and neutral toes. Clothes should be fun. Give me my pink toenails, flamingo shoes and bags and cobalt tops!

I’ve always just been browsing wardrobe icons-no idea why as it annoys the hell out of me-but they have said that the new Chanel nail polishes are much better than the old ones that chip.

shopafrolic · 15/05/2018 22:18

Am starting discussions with the girls about plans for this Mallorca trip. Sounds expensive and lux. My beachwear is not up to it! Help!!!!

QueenCornflower · 16/05/2018 07:28

I’ve just got new bikinis from bravissimo. I tend to stick to the brands I wear as bras so panache, Freya and fantasie. I don’t think it’s so much you need to spend a lot of money, it’s more that you need to find something that fits well. Figleaves have a great selection too. I tend to order a whole lot and try in the comfort of my home
