That's a good idea QueenC I resent spending too much for beachwear as it always get trashed.
I saw some nice stuff in Stories but I resent their high delivery charge. We are going to a Nikki beach club (think TOWIE in Marbs) hiring cabanas and doing the whole cocktail and clubbing thing. I think I need to do a Blingy and start wearing a few bits of jewellery with my bikini. Accessorise will probably be a good place to start.... I am usually much more of a no make up and chill kind of beach go-er.

shopafrolic · 16/05/2018 07:58

This is cute

QueenCornflower · 16/05/2018 08:16

I got this one and this one.

There’s no way I’d be wearing jewellery on a beach. I hate wearing it when it’s hot as it annoys the shit out of me. You can tell I’m a natural-comfort is my thing Grin

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 16/05/2018 08:17

I don't do bikinis as it were but my swim/beach stuff is always underwired, boobs are just on the big enough side that they need the extra support. I usually go for bigger short type bottoms and a tankini top but appreciate you have a totally different figure to me Shop and you would definitely look good in a well fitting bikini! I would second looking at bravissimos offerings or similar

the great packing slog has begun. just waiting on a few bits Dp has ordered to arrive. We were going to just use one bag between us but i think we'd be over weight with it so given that we can each have a bag, I've decided to use both. My bag is smaller but hat's not an issue, i'm an excellent packer!! when we came back from the US last time, my suitcase was half the size of Dps and I had mine absolutely jam packed, couldn't fit a single extra thing in it and i was still 5kg under my weight allowance Grin

shopafrolic · 16/05/2018 08:29

Those are lovely QueenC

Everyonelovessparkles · 16/05/2018 08:31

That anya bikini is a nice shape queenc. I usually get the amalfi bandeau bikini top from Boden. It has a good level of support (depending on how much support you need) and it’s good quality fabric.
I’ve decided that In the future, I will try not to buy swimwear with white as a base colour as this is what discolours and makes something look old.

Will all your friends be ‘expensive lux’ shop or is it just the look of the place that makes you think that? Maybe just a couple of accessorise bracelets could dress up swimwear. Not sure about necklaces if you don’t usually wear them at the beach. I think they would annoy me. What about cover ups? Next have quite a large beach range and there are lots of beach dresses that look like you could dress them up. I know Next has varying quality, but might be worth a look to give you some ideas? Also, could you look on Instagram at the beach club and see what people tend to be wearing?

one you do sound like a good packer! One tip I have from my DM is to spread all your clothes across all the luggage you take - so rather than each person having their own bag, use all of them for everyone - because then if one bag goes missing you still have some clothes, as it would be very unfortunate for all your bags to go missing.

shopafrolic · 16/05/2018 09:39

I love the Amalfi bikini and have it in a bright orange (from when I thought I was an Autumn!) but I'm not loving the prints this year Hmm

shopafrolic · 16/05/2018 09:50

In other news the Whistles top that QueenC is going to have to go back. One wash on a delicate cycle in a laundry bag and it has a tiny hole in the back of it Sad
I'm going to ask for an exchange and try once more as I love the shape - gutted.

shopafrolic · 16/05/2018 09:59

Everyone I just took a look on Instagram - I basically need to lose weight, get a spray tan and be 20 years younger Grin

MarshaBradyo · 16/05/2018 10:06

You’ll be fine Shop and fit right in. Sunniest etc glam-tastic

Anyone else enjoying all the please don’t go emails. Some I’m thinking ok maybe I’ll let you email me others I’m woohoo you’ve been clogging up my inbox for years

shopafrolic · 16/05/2018 10:08

Yes Marsha It's a great opportunity to test which brands I really 'care' about
Feels like when I do my pre Christmas mass unsubscribe.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 16/05/2018 10:55

i've unsubscribed from loads of stuff, basically anywhere i haven't bought and kept something from in the last year. Fed up of piles of emails every single day encouraging me to buy buy buy. I've only hung on to the ones i know i will buy from again as the odd discounts etc are nice and can be useful if i'm planning a purchase any way

Everyonelovessparkles · 16/05/2018 13:01

shop maybe your trip will be like that episode of sex in the city when Carrie et al go to the hamptons - ‘20 something girls v 30something women’! Grin. I agree that the amalfi bikini prints aren’t great this year I have the colourful stripey one, but not sure if that’s ‘you’. Though I think a well fitting plain black bikini can look really great, especially if you dress it up with a nice hat, bag and sandals etc

I found some of the advice on the expensive thread pretty cliched too queenc. If I wore linen I would look like a grumbled paper bag! I guess with any fashion ‘rules’ you just follow the ones that apply to you.

I’ve not bothered responding to a lot of the re-subscription emails either. I could do with a clear out and then can re-register with ones who I’m interested in.

shopafrolic · 16/05/2018 16:13

LOL Everyone
The more I consider it I may just go plain black, possibly even a swimsuit rather than bikini.
What are Voguettes' thoughts on wearing red during summer? I have been eyeing up various red items for this summer - a maxi dress, a bikini, some wedge espadrilles but having red that looking expensive in summer thread I'm feeling I've got it all wrong?!

shopafrolic · 16/05/2018 16:47

Can someone buy this too? If the sequins were silver it would be mine.....

QueenCornflower · 16/05/2018 17:54

You know my thoughts on the summer thread shop. Seriously, who wants to wear just black, white and camel??
Bad about the whistles top!

MarshaBradyo · 16/05/2018 17:55

Red is fine in summer surely!

shopafrolic · 16/05/2018 19:27

I always thought so (as long as you're not sunburnt!)

Everyonelovessparkles · 16/05/2018 19:27

I think red is nice in summer too. Especially on those with darker colouring. Yes the ‘expensive’ thread is an interesting read but I don’t believe ‘a one size fits all’ approach is the only way!

shopafrolic · 16/05/2018 23:37

This is insane but I bloody love it!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 17/05/2018 00:15

i love that too Shop but unfortunately, it would be pooling on the floor on me Grin

shopafrolic · 17/05/2018 09:54

Do any of you have Casteñer espadrilles? I'm looking at the Carinas or Air & Grace ones if anyone has any experience of either?

libertyonhertravels · 17/05/2018 10:08

I think Mara has some Shop. I love the TS kimono and you could totally pull it off but poly might be too hot in the heat. Long kimonos like that were very popular in Auckland this year.

maradesbois · 17/05/2018 10:39

Yes Shop I have Castañer carina in black, they are fab, v comfortable. Yy to non pricey plain black swimwear. I would say get some espadrilles, a new swimming costume or bikini, get mani/pedi before you go and you’ll be grand. Don’t throw a fortune at it, you’ve already got nice summer stuff and a strong wardrobe.
