Pineapple 💐 doing the right thing doesn't mean it's easy x

I am also convinced chanel use the same base for their scents

Sotd....Hmmmm...ive woken up feeling really grotty and we are taking our bedroom apart to decorate it 😣😣😣😣

I need something comforting - next cashmere I think

UnnecessaryFennel · 29/03/2018 10:43

Flowers pineapple, hope the meeting goes ok

SOTD is MG Fire. I like this so much more now than I did when I first got it. I don't know whether it's that my tastes have changed or my nose has 'developed' in the last 6 months of daily sniffing, or what, but I can now pick out the rose, the incense, the sandalwood and the oud far better than I could before. I would still maintain that (certainly compared to Plum) this is quite a dry and 'buttoned up' scent and that it's poorly named but it's a far, far more complex and interesting juice than I originally gave it credit for. In fact I'm finding it quite hard to keep my nose away from my wrist!

OCSockOrphanage · 29/03/2018 11:32

Fennel, you are living dangerously; between this thread and the Parisiennes, the financial damage potential will be providing the motive for the fantasy crime wave.

Moving on through Floral Street, today is Neon Rose. Top notes were as lovely as the others, but the drydown is a bit pallid and it has a dose of the ingredient that stops me loving 4160Ts. They do stunningly pretty openings, and among peeps who buy on first sniffs, I can see them being very successful.

mrsreynolds · 29/03/2018 13:19

Im in next cashmere but am about to start stripping wallpaper so might need a re spray 😁

UnnecessaryFennel · 29/03/2018 13:27

Tell me about it, sock! It was all in the sale though, so really I've actually saved money, right? Grin

PickledHoneybuzzard · 29/03/2018 14:36

Hello, my name is PickledHoneybuzzard and I may have a small perfume addiction.
Following in from my other thread I am after a swap, does anyone have any Valentina Poudre they would like to swap for; Bottega Veneta 50ml or Chanel 19 Poudre 50ml or 2 x 10ml Dans Tes Bras by Frederic Malle?
The Botega and Chanel were both bought in the last year, both used around 10 to 15 times so only a tiny bit gone from each bottle, both kept in their boxes in a steady cool temperature, away from sunlight. The Malle are older and are travel refills so not fancy but still smell perfect, neither have been used.
If you don't want to swap I am open to buying.
I haven't had time to RTFT all through so don't know if anyone's mentioned it but I always assumed stormtroopers would wear Bulgari Black, sexy leathery smoky tea and baby powder!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 29/03/2018 16:21

Hello PHB, I was browsing your other thread just now.

Interesting about the "special thingy" (guerlinade etc) 4160s (well, the ones I've tried) have a "fizzy thingy" at the beginning. London 1969 and EG definitely both have it, and I think Paris 1948 does too.

You can put me in the Venn diagram of Perfumista/Parisienne threads. I only have time to dip into those very infrequently, but since doing so seem to have acquired an account at the Outnet, some Charlotte Tilbury foundation (contrary to MN lore, I am very impressed) a Clinique grey eyeliner (it's amazing) a Dior 999 lipstick, a Chanel Boy lipstick and a Chanel Mademoiselle lipstick, both of which I was humming and aahhhhing over when they first came out. Found someone on ebay.it selling testers.

OCSockOrphanage · 29/03/2018 16:30

Hi PHB, sadly AFAIK the Bvlgari Black is discontinued. I always rather liked it.

UnnecessaryFennel · 29/03/2018 16:37

Agree about the 4160 'fizzy thingy' PIAM. It's a sort of citrussy, prosecco-y blast in many of the top notes - EMS has it too imo. I like the sound of your grey Clinique eyeliner too...those Parisienne threads had me captivated for quite a while and did some serious damage to my bank account...

pickled - I would lurve your Bottega Veneta and/or your No 19 poudre but alas I have no Valentina to swap and really really need to stop buying fgs

PerfumeIsAMessage · 29/03/2018 16:55

Buy one Fennel- seriously, I would never have thought an eyeliner would make such a difference. Eyeliner has always been one of those things I "grab whichever Rimmel/Maybelline etc is on offer" and since my 1980s Desperately Seeking Susan leather and lace phase when obviously I wore black, I've just grabbed brown.

Not only is the grey really flattering and highlights my blue eyes, but the quality of the pencil is fab. It's a push up twiddley one and its fine, yet soft for playing with. I love it.

mrsreynolds · 29/03/2018 17:01

Pickled...will pm you

OCSockOrphanage · 29/03/2018 17:19

Gosh, this thread is the equivalent of an Exocet missile to the bank balance. Which Clinique grey eyeliner? I want need a grey one too.

VioletWillow · 29/03/2018 18:07

SOTD, Pell Wall Pretty in Pink. I slathered on too much and smelled like a toilet brush most of the day. Hey ho.
Grey eyeliner? Do I need one? I have hazel sludgey eyes so could do with something interesting and I am flying into the UK next week... tell me more!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 29/03/2018 18:08

Clinique eyeliner

Blue grey is the one- the colour irl is nothing like as blue as the picture, it's really not blue at all.

mrsreynolds · 29/03/2018 18:28

I absolutely AM NOT buying perfume in april.
Nope.
I need a new bedroom chair....and all the ones I like are ££££ 😔
What I really want is a chaise longue but my bedroom isn't large enough 😣

mrsreynolds · 29/03/2018 18:29

....I have treated myself to a small chandelier though...
🤣

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 29/03/2018 18:43

I must not buy perfume in April, it's Ds's birthday at the end of April plus one of my nieces birthdays at the start so really, i should be buying for them! I WILL BE GOOD I WILL BE GOOD I WILL BE GOOD

mrsreynolds · 29/03/2018 18:47

Ive got my sister's b day and my nephews b day in april....theyre both getting fragrant gifts 😁

Sote sexiest scent ❤

MrsGruber · 29/03/2018 18:51

OC - you made me laugh out loud earlier at work Grin.

PiaM - the throw-back qualities of MG's Lemon and Plum in particular seem marmitey?

Pickled - have just sprayed Black and I think it's too nicely mannered for a Stormtrooper. I'm sticking with Beaufort Grin.

SotD was Notorious. Someone on Fragrantica is right; the white chocolate/patch combo does make this the chilly sister of Coromandel. It's a very striking cool oriental. One edge of it is almost bug spray, so it's borderline unsettling. But overall it is very attractive and unusual (I can't think of anything quite like it). It is definitely good in the daytime if you need something distinctive for semi-formal situations.

Zoologist have now got Moth and Hyrax.

MrsGruber · 29/03/2018 19:26

Put me down for some Moth - sounds fab! The 11mls are expensive though unless you buy 5-

I'm planning the mother of all clear-outs for a school car boot to raise funds Grin.

SOTD is FM Hiver. Roll on hometime tomorrow, I am so over this term.

AlexisColbysFANCYfrock · 29/03/2018 19:50

Just a quick one as on a train with crap signal and hardly any battery left, BUT...you absolute scoundrels have enabled my finger to slip and order both MG Lemon and Plum. Two days (two days!) into my no-spend period.

April WILL be more frugal Grin

pestilentialboundary · 29/03/2018 19:56

Getting it delivered may be another thing Fancy. My Fragrance shop order has done three laps of the county and been returned to sender. They are going to send a repeat order with another courier company.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 29/03/2018 19:56

Have resisted more MG but now worried I shouldn't have. And Candles?!

Hello to all recent joinees Grin

Haven't read the article so apologies if this was mentioned but I'm sure Guerlain had a scent called Guerlainade which wasn't actually Guerlainade... what madness. Bet it smells lovely.

Loving the murder weapon MG bottle thing. Probably easy to disguise poison as perfume too. Mix it with something strong smelling and nobody would ever know... Or a sharp application of a good awful shoe bottle to the neck. Nobody would admit to owning it so again you'd never know. May have read a few too many Agatha Christies

SotD is ELDO Dangerous Complicity. It's another winner - slightly fizzy opening and a really nice feminine spiciness and a light booziness. It's on the will-buy-if-ever-on-the-TKMaxx-list along with Putain des Palaces.
