Sandals - cool but also comfortable

I need sandals for this year - they need to be granny levels of comfortable and although they will mostly be worn in the back of beyond where fashion fears to tread, I will also be in London and want to be suitably on point.

For context, my style is ripped boyfriend jeans, Whistles stuff, Stan smiths, platinum shaggy bob (currently pale pink actually!). In the summer abroad it's denim short shorts, short plain smock dresses, maxi skirt/crop top.

Birkenstocks? Saltwater? Were saltwater only cool 2 years ago or are they timeless? I have pretty glittery Zara sandals for "good" wear - I need everyday cool. Budget about £60.

Please help!

Thank you
Love the silver wedge ones so might give them a go

Mookie81 · 18/03/2018 18:48

Purple definitely rude, but the Woman's Own comment made me chuckle!

Squ1ggle · 18/03/2018 20:20

Just ordered these. Am hoping that they're not as bulky as my other birkenstocks and that the ankle straps help with them cutting into my feet. Not a bad price as I have amazon student so got an extra discount www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B06XRK1VSP/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1521404191&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=birkenstock+alyssa&dpPl=1&dpID=41ddd43tQ8L&ref=plSrch

Squ1ggle · 18/03/2018 20:21

Hate that it's different prices for different sizes though. I paid £35

Appuskidu · 18/03/2018 20:25

Did you order the green Oak and Hyde ones, OP?

Please post a pic when they come, if so!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 18/03/2018 20:29

I have Solillas Menorcan sandals and they are very comfy. Very generous fit, the leather gives quite a lot. I am more a 7.5 really, but the 7 in Solillas was fine.

Littlelondoner · 18/03/2018 20:30

Hear me out. Crocs sexi flipflops. I cringe at thought of crocs by swear by these.

Frequentflyer1 · 18/03/2018 20:45

Great thread - I am looking for new sandals for my upcoming holidays.
Which particular styles do people like from FitFlop and Moshulu? I have tried Birkins and they shredded my feet too.

Aspergallus · 19/03/2018 11:03

Take a look at the Art Company sandals. Extremely comfortable and geeky cool. Also, Keen.

I struggle with getting sandals narrow enough and can’t wear anything with a toe post
I can’t wear anything that’s just a slip on style as I either slip out, slip through or just flap flap when I walk
Any suggestions anyone?

Appuskidu · 19/03/2018 14:02

I have narrow feet and wear the Birkenstock slim fits. Fly London fit well, too and the strap can be adjusted.

Scabetty · 19/03/2018 15:12

Teva

Sandals - cool but also comfortable
Scabetty · 19/03/2018 15:14

Ok ignore me. By the time I got a photo Teva had been suggested Grin

AdoraBell · 19/03/2018 15:21

This is my eternal problem. Can’t wear flip flops or Birks, need something open that also hides my hideous bunions! I’m going to try Moshulu this year.

polyhymnia · 19/03/2018 15:26

A FitFlop fan here. Have had quite a few over the years and they are incredibly comfortable.
I don’t like the hard feel of Birkenstocks, or any completely flat footed sandal. No toe posts for me and must have a back strap.

Has anyone bought or is planning to buy any of this season’s FF sandals? I can’t decide which to pick!

duckling84 · 19/03/2018 19:38

After all the teva recommendations I went to check them out - wow they are ugly! I though my crocs crocband flip were uncool but they are something else!
Seeing as we're on the style and beauty page I beg you - don't!!

TravellingFleet · 19/03/2018 20:14

But they are the most insanely comfortable thing ever - the style comes from the look of happiness on the wearer’s face!

WindyWednesday · 19/03/2018 21:18

Last summer they were in the fashion magazines.

I know that’s “last” summer, but I’m happy with that, they are super comfy and the soles are really like trainers. Waterproof so you can paddle in the sea with them.

ISeeTheLight · 19/03/2018 21:25

I have Ecco sandals, their more slim looking ones. Super comfy and they don't shred my feet/ankles though they are a bit more expensive

whiteonesugar · 20/03/2018 09:21

I love Palmairas, they are real leather and have the most beautiful colours and patterns!

I picked up a really comfortable pair in tk maxx yesterday - they are by aerosoles (American brand). They are ever so comfortable. They do have some on the website but a lot are just in smaller sizes which is a shame.
Some are pretty horrible but are a few nice styles there www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/search/?q=Aerosoles%3Arelevance%3AstockLevelStatus%3AinStock%3A&page=1

dontstopthepeach · 20/03/2018 14:47

Liking the look of the FitFlop Tia - anyone had those? I need a back strap as I walk out of backless shoes now that I'm old. Love a toe post though!

bakingbee · 20/03/2018 16:14

Thanks for the link peas - I've just bought two pairs. They look lovely and luckily I have v small feet.....

WellTidy · 20/03/2018 17:20

Anyone who likes saltwaters might like moshulu wasabi. They do them in loads of colours. They have a thicker and more comfortable sole than saltwaters. So comfortable.

potterycat · 20/03/2018 17:48

dontstopthepeach

I ordered these (Fitflop Tia) but when I tried them on and walked about, I found that the toepost sort of 'slid back' between my toes, and I found that really annoying! I imagine if I'd worn them for any great length of time it may well have caused a blister.

Disclaimer: I have very awkward feet. You may get on great with them! They look quite 'dainty' for a Fitflop and the sole was very squishy.
