I'll eat my hat if the version(finish/fit/cut/materials) the model is wearing in the instagram post is the same rubbish that will end up on the 4.99 rack.

By the way 120 EURO over here, who are they kidding!!!!

Aridane · 11/03/2018 16:13

Oh my.

CotswoldStrife · 11/03/2018 16:17

The instagram picture has different sleeves - they have the brown velvet trim at the end, unless you have to roll back the sleeves to get that it's not on the version on the M&S website.

Not that the brown velvet trim on the sleeves improves the dress enough to make it wearable IMO. Not that I'm a fashion maven to listen to but it's a no from me.

MipMipMip · 11/03/2018 16:29

My mouth literally dropped open. I didn't think that really happened.

Zucker · 11/03/2018 17:03

2 versions of the dress, same item codes from M&S.

Ooh, that’s cheeky from M&S - one version for press and one for the people.

I wish they’d stick to basics. The average woman is NEVER going to buy a high fashion item from M&S, but she would pop in there for a decent tee shirt. Make nice tee shirts that don’t bag, flap or show your tits!

In itself, that’s a niche market on the high st these days...

LemonysSnicket · 11/03/2018 17:39

It’s quite Edwina ....

Blerg · 11/03/2018 17:47

I think it actually looks worse on the model. Or maybe it just looks worse each time I see it.

Amazing.

Notmyrealname85 · 11/03/2018 18:09

Right Grazia can trot right on, you LIARS! As if you’d ever wear this shit

OP posts:
Notmyrealname85 · 11/03/2018 18:11

On a separate note, I’m sick of Grazia talking about representation and throwing ONE “happy with myself” column or ONE dove advert or ONE “plus size” girl in and calling it representation. No... representation is everyone one of your models having our bodies, all varieties.

Am having a bad fashion day!!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/03/2018 18:24

Why do they keep trying to do high fashion and why do the press keep pretending they like it?

It's not helping.

I bought a beautiful lightweight cashmere jumper, and it's already out of stock but this monstrosity is everywhere.

Why? And don't remind me what else I've seen in store.

Hunter007 · 11/03/2018 18:46

It's easy to see why MNS sales are repeatedly down every year. Who on earth are they designing for!?

JennyHolzersGhost · 11/03/2018 18:48

Grazia had last year’s pink blancmange number in that feature slot as well. Made me wonder at the time whether those mentions are paid for by advertisers. Now I’d bet on it. No other explanation.

Agustarella · 11/03/2018 18:56

I thought you couldn't go wrong with a velvet maxi dress. I stand corrected!

I've still got some beautifully cut St Michael velvet jackets from the 70s, bought as a student in the 90s.

Notmyrealname85 · 11/03/2018 19:45

They definitely always throw in one or two paid for, this just takes the biscuit

OP posts:
CoolCarrie · 11/03/2018 20:17

That dress hasn’t got anything going for it, and the guardian fashion link is very funny, “punchy, practical” ,no they are all bloody awful

CoolCarrie · 11/03/2018 20:22

I would pay £4.99 for it, just to use the material to make tiny curtains for niece’s dolls house!

windygallows · 11/03/2018 20:25

Oh god it's like Stevie Nicks meets Morticia Addams. I actually think the only person who could pull that off is Florence of 'the Machine' but even then she would look like a bargain basement version of herself!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/03/2018 20:27

And they wonder why they're in trouble.
FFS M&S have you ever thought about entering the 21st century

Bluntness100 · 11/03/2018 20:27

Honest to god, that's worse than the pink thing, it looks like some form of peasant dress from the 1600s. I can just imagine wearing a head scarf and carrying a basket on one hip and a baby on the other.

Who would actually wear that thing?.

meandmytinfoilhat · 11/03/2018 20:29

This is why marks and Spencer's are losing money.

What an ugly dress.

Powerpuffwoman · 11/03/2018 20:36

Whoever tries this on and takes a pic this week wins Mumsnet for the whole of March.

Redact · 12/03/2018 00:12

It is hideous! I clicked on the link thinking it can't be that bad. How wrong I was. It's worse than I could ever ever have imagined!

SingaSong12 · 12/03/2018 00:36

I clicked thinking how bad could it be.... hideous

I think it looks better on the model, but as PP point out it's not the same dress. .... so marginally less hideous.

LineyOfArabia · 12/03/2018 01:06

Designed by someone who doesn't like women very much.
