Unecessary - rossy de Palma is my FB dream! I love it

mrsreynolds · 08/03/2018 08:10

Sotd PP opium

SoFancy · 08/03/2018 08:29

SOTD is another MFK sample I recently got - A La Rose.

It’s lovely - an airy, true, pink rose - but strikingly similar to the Body Shop Atlas Mountain Rose EDT. So, um, yeah. Not FB worthy. I’ve popped the BS version in my handbag for topping up at work, in fact Grin

MrsGruber · 08/03/2018 08:31

Snow's back. To 'celebrate' I'm in ambre loup (thank you JSW - hope you are OK?). Fabulous vanillary amber.

UnnecessaryFennel · 08/03/2018 09:01

Snow, MrsG? Blimey. Some spring weather would be nice, no?

RdP has dried down into a very pretty patchouli rose, but it's barely there, which surprises me after such a 'ta-daaaah!' opening. It's lovely though so perhaps I just need to be a bit more generous with my dabber next time.

Ollivander84 · 08/03/2018 09:04

Only one scent for me to wear on international women's day...
SOTD womanity Grin

auberginesrus · 08/03/2018 09:12

Thanks for the tips re Bloom Mrs G - the fact that you can buy samples makes it really appealing - I really want to try Jasmine et Cigarette, Like This, You or Someone Like You and some of the Zoologist ones. Not sure I could cope with SM though Grin. Some of the PG ones look good too - I will gen up when I'm on the train down there.

May also have to pop into the TK Maxx where Fennel found her bargain, was it the one on Long Acre? Our local branch just seems to have Bromley, Beyonce and David Beckham! Glad your parcel arrived safely.

SOTD is 4160s London 1969 from my tester pack. Like it better than the first time I tried it, quite a lot more in fact, but I don't think its going to last on me.

positivepineapple · 08/03/2018 10:28

A 20% discount code for Bloom & Wild just popped up on my IG.

FBMD20

In case anyone hasn't ordered yet, I think you can use that with Judys referral code as well Smile

UnnecessaryFennel · 08/03/2018 10:48

aubergines, it was the Charing Cross Road one where I found the Miller Harris, but i have found goodies in the Long Acre store as well so probably worth a look.

The RdP has gone completely. Therefore, in honour of IWD, I've given Carolina Herrera's Good Girl a go Wink Grin. It's a pretty standard white floral jasmine/tuberose, with supposedly some roasted tonka. This, apparently, along with the tuberose 'represents the duality of a woman's character' not enough eyerolling in the world for that one. Go ladies!

It's not actually bad, just not my thing at all.

LibertyBlue · 08/03/2018 11:12

Happy IWD! I’m in Chanel Bois de Iles again today and feeling much better Smile

Motoko · 08/03/2018 11:34

I bought a couple of Italian lemon soaps in TKMaxx recently. One is a straight lemon which smells lovely and fresh. The other is lemon verbena and smells like lemon sherbets, with that bit of fizz. Lovely.

mrsreynolds · 08/03/2018 12:25

After a very busy morning I've come home to a lovely par DL from floofy 😀💞

I'm now wafting around in vintage obsession and its so great I'm feeling tearful 😛

Thank you xxx

SoFancy · 08/03/2018 12:36

Lemon verbena soap sounds lovely, Moloko.

My little bottles and funnels arrived this morning from eBay, so I will practice decanting this weekend Grin.

MFK A La Rose has disappeared by lunchtime. Disappointing.

UnnecessaryFennel · 08/03/2018 17:02

Very happy to report (finally) that Feu Follet is indeed a thing of considerable beauty. Spicy ginger/lavender/leather, really very, very lovely.

Ollivander84 · 08/03/2018 18:28

My Angela Flanders samples have arrived!
Xanadu - wow this is strong. I cannot describe it at all Grin except I hated the opening but the dry down is nice
Bois de Seville - YES! Like Shazam but more orange. Smells like Christmas
Artillery 3 - much more gentle and I can't smell it properly as Xanadu broke my nose
I'm waiting to smell the Rose one...

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 08/03/2018 19:39

Evening everyone. Official SotD was another Floral Street - wild vanilla orchid this time. Have to admit I didn't know what to expect from orchids, but it's an inoffensive but unremarkable vanilla with a citrussy acid cutting through.

Have also sniffed a few eBay buys though. Came home to Diorella (Thanks eBay.de and PIAM so had to try it. Smells very grown up and lovely to me. Floral chypre does seem a fair description - getting the peach but in a much nicer way than, say, Paris 194? (Why am I so terrible with those years?) Also getting something else - struggling identify now though. Partly because DS 2 has got toothpaste on me, and partly because my jumper still smells of the Chanel 22 eBay win that arrived yesterday so I'm still getting a lot of iris. Actually, so far I think Diorella and 22 are a winning combo!

EliseC1965 · 08/03/2018 19:47

SOTD is Byredo Rose of No Mans Land. Gorgeous deep rose with s hit of spice. Yummy.
I’ve also booked to go to a 4160 mini workshop in Birmingham on my birthday. Here: www.4160tuesdays.com/events_232441.html. Only £40 as well. OH is going to hit the shops until I’m done and then take me to dinner.
I love these things, have been to 2 PS sense of smell ones in London with the very fragrant Jo Fairley.
Maybe I’ll see someone from here there?

SoFancy · 08/03/2018 19:54

Busy sniffers today, eh!

After my alightly disappointing airy rose day at the office, I went for a spray of vintage Ysatis after work and before going off to DD’s —endless bleedin’— after school activities. Divine, but has given me a taste for stronger white flowers...so when I’ve finally done food for us, put DD to bed and had a bath, I’m reaching for the big guns and some Truth or Dare.

Night everyone.

CountFosco · 08/03/2018 20:59

SotD Ealing Green. We all love this don't we. Dryad will be SotD tomorrow for a customer visit, the first in my new role so must remember not to talk over the new guy doing my old job!

Been doing second viewings of houses today and yesterday so will be making an offer tomorrow. Annoyingly our buyer wants to reduce her offer on this house based on the surveyers report which means despite being here 15 years we've made no money on it (joys of living in NE, market has been stationary for last 11 years) but we'll just have to accept that so we can move. Fortunate that our equity and savings allow us to do that really.

Ollivander84 · 08/03/2018 21:01

Cedar! That's what is in Xanadu that is so strong. Sort of rosewood and cedar type, really smacks you around the face

Judydreamsofhorses · 08/03/2018 21:10

SOTD is Byredo Gypsy Water. It was my birthday at the end of the month and I bought a full bottle of this with money I got. The sample I had didn’t grab me at first, then suddenly really grew on me. I can see me wearing this a lot in spring and summer.

Happy International Women’s Day, my fabulous fragrant friends!

pomadas87 · 08/03/2018 21:41

I love this thread! I asked a couple of days ago for some recommendations and you all had so many - thank you. Especially mrsreynolds (I think) who said I needed to give Addict another try - I did today for the first time in years and I just love it. Seems completely different on me now and it's just so gorgeous and warm. Going to get a bottle!

MrsGruber · 08/03/2018 21:57

And to you Judy

So what's a suitable SotE to celebrate? (Hint: probably isn't pink, sweet or bottled in a bizarre shoe).

SoFancy · 08/03/2018 22:36

pomadas - Addict is the best! Its addictive (lame, but true).

I don't wear it regularly, but sometimes only Addict will do. Its great in all sorts of different situations. Cold weather? Check. Sexy time? Grin Check! Glamorous outing (not very often for me!)? Check! Comforting sleep potion? Check.

Very versatile and beautiful. Love!

SoFancy · 08/03/2018 22:37

mrsr switched me on to it, too, which I am ever thankful for (and ET Diamonds & Rubies/KL Sun Moon Stars...and Sophia Grojsman in general).

Love this thread and the perfumistas, too Grin
