How would you describe a mint velvet customer?

OP posts:
guffaux · 14/02/2018 23:49

omg-miaow!!!! Confused

GertieMotherwell · 14/02/2018 23:55

I would be interested to know where the posters on this thread shop and how they describe their style.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 14/02/2018 23:59

Oh I'm a skinnies and T shirt kinda woman. My style is scruffy aging indie chick.

ourkidmolly · 15/02/2018 04:29

Jeez. Some unnecessary bitchy comments here.

SuperBeagle · 15/02/2018 04:35

I bought a purple-ish coloured jumper from Mint Velvet in December. I'm early 30s.

No need about their target audience as I'm Australian and the brand doesn't exist here. But I liked a lot of the jumpers they had in stock at the time. Not much else appealed to me, however.

Knockedforsix · 15/02/2018 04:55

How can anyone say that someone who shops in a specific shop probably has a smug smile?

I never understand these unpleasant comments about people because they may like a particular shop. It's a little embarrassing to think someone's put quite so much thought into it. Grin

AdiosPeaceOfRoast · 15/02/2018 05:46

What all the fashion bloggers would wear if they weren’t fashion bloggers.

Floisme · 15/02/2018 07:24

I don't know about Mint Velvet but I know a few words for some of the posters on here. Funny isn't one of them.

Mulberrysilk · 15/02/2018 09:41

The people making the comments are smug, not the MV customers.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 15/02/2018 09:44

She never goes near a naked flame.

Bluntness100 · 15/02/2018 09:57

Huge lol. Of all the things to get bitter and jealous about, who knew shopping in mint velvet was one of them 🤪

Lobsterquadrille2 · 15/02/2018 10:06

I know one of the three MV founders - she's early fifties, stylish, likes to look fashionable but not trying too hard - and definitely not the same stuff that her 20 year old wears. They identified a gap in the market and sought to fill it.

suchatiredbunny · 15/02/2018 10:09

'Cheap', in my case. The one MV item I own is a gorgeous stripe tshirt that washes and wears brilliantly.....£3.50 in a charity shop Grin

creaturefeatures · 15/02/2018 10:09

I like MV.

I'm 36, live in a Hampshire commuter town, work in the City. I'm a size 18-20 so definitely not slim!

I like the 'classic'/French look so do tend to go for neutral tones.

I would never shop at Next and Laura Ashley for my home. I would shop at John Lewis and the local vintage shops for antique/vintage stuff.

But yes, grey is a big colour in my house. Not totally grey as that would be depressing but I do prefer greys, navy blue, black, white, ivory, etc.

creaturefeatures · 15/02/2018 10:13

If people think I'm dull I care not one teeny tiny bit.

Mainly because I'm not. One person's 'classic' is another person's 'dull' and it will work the other way around for those posters and their style too.

If we were all the same it would be shit. I don't need to put other women and their style choices down to feel better about myself Wink

DotCottonDotCom · 15/02/2018 10:14

I saw all the recommendations on this site and thought "oooh they must be quite stylish and nice"

I was SEVERELY disappointed. Im 31 and I've got a long way before you'll find me back on there!

HRTpatch · 15/02/2018 10:17

I've got quite a few tops and A couple of jackets. I'm late fifties, very tall. However the trousers are too short.
There is such poor selection out there.

GertieMotherwell · 15/02/2018 12:02

The point is though, no-one ever shops just at one shop do they? It’s how you put stuff together that matters.

I have 3 things from MV
A grey bag via ebay
Some grey skinnies
A great wool hooded coat

They’re just basics really. I do wear neutral shades because they suit me and I always have, it’s not an age thing. I do add splashes of colour like a bright ring, nails, or a red lipstick.

Reallycantbebothered · 15/02/2018 13:24

Someone with money and a love of man made fibres and no imagination

MadameBronte · 15/02/2018 14:39

At Xmas, I bought a gorgeous MV charcoal grey parka with silvery grey fur trim on the hood. It's beautifully made, and cosy without being heavy or bulky. Expensive but I expect to still be wearing it in 5 years time.

Nothing else in MV caught my eye, though I am their customer demographic of middle aged with disposable income.

MadameBronte · 15/02/2018 14:41

Oh and woman complemented me on it at Xmas, and she's Parisian born and bred Smile

TheChineseChicken · 15/02/2018 14:43

Boring. Sorry

TheChineseChicken · 15/02/2018 14:44

Hush falls into the same category IMO. On a par with Boden

Daffydil · 15/02/2018 14:46

My mum likes MV. She's 74, 5' and not particularly stylish. She also likes seasalt and white stuff.

scampifry · 15/02/2018 15:01

Lives in a boring commuter town
