How would you describe a mint velvet customer?

OP posts:

I have some of their tops but I'm only 29 Hmm I'm obviously aged before my time!
I'm not sure where I'm 'supposed' to shop, I'm too old for topshop but if this thread is anything to go by I'm too young for MV. Oh well!

Judydreamsofhorses · 14/02/2018 19:24

My mum. She’s a very stylish 71, and loves Mint Velvet.

Branleuse · 14/02/2018 19:27

i dont see whats edgy about it. It looks like a cross between topshop and marks and spencer

crackerjacket · 14/02/2018 19:32

www.mintvelvet.co.uk/product/smoke-beaded-batwing-knit/7668

This is nice

crackerjacket · 14/02/2018 19:32

They do use the word butteryabout their leather though, which loses points for obvious reasons

AnaWinter · 14/02/2018 19:35

Age range when I pop into my local one tends to be late 50’s to late 70’s

Dozer · 14/02/2018 19:37

My neighbour wears it a lot when off work. She’s late 40s, slim, blonde hair always coloured nicely and styled, low key and conservative but not “classic” in clothing choices. She looks good.

The colours are no good for the “house of colour” “winter” palette and styles no good for slightly overweight hourglass figure IMO! Which rules me out!

MrMeeseeks · 14/02/2018 19:38

When I last went into a store (aged 40) I though there was a lot of viscose going on for the price.

Dozer · 14/02/2018 19:38

Older clientele in the outlet branch I visited recently, in an outlet village where there were lots of well dressed older women lunching!

Grobagsforever · 14/02/2018 19:51

I love their tops and I'm 37. Surrey commuter town..I'm tall and slim though and love that I can fit their size 8's 😂😂

ormulu · 14/02/2018 20:14

Someone with no imagination
Same bird who furnishes her house from Next or Laura Ashley

TinklyLittleLaugh · 14/02/2018 20:26

Hmm, my MV loving mate furnishes her house from John Lewis and M&S. Next would be too cheapo and Laura Ashley too rustic.

ToEarlyForDecorations · 14/02/2018 20:31

I noticed a lovely top by Mint Velvet today (points for venturing in to John Bastarding Lewis please) now there's a high temple to snobbery if ever there was one.

it was............ HOW MUCH !!!! Seventy nine quid for a cotton blouse/top. No thanks, I'll wait until Tesco are selling a copy for twelve quid.

oohyoudevilyou · 14/02/2018 21:04

Mid to late 40's slim HR managers from N London/ Thames Valley commuter belt. Classic make-up with slightly edgy hair.

Kitsharrington · 14/02/2018 21:29

Early middle aged woman. Gavin’s mum from Gavin and Stacy (brilliantly portrayed by Alison’s steadman).

TinklyLittleLaugh · 14/02/2018 21:47

Likes to go to gigs (only bands like Coldplay though).

ILikeyourHairyHands · 14/02/2018 21:50

Hmmm, I occasionally wander into the concession when I'm in JL, and then am violently expelled by static.

Lots of drapey viscose and weird embellishment from what I can see, and bloody batwings-a-plenty (or dolman sleeves as they were know in t'olden days, calling them batwing doesn't make them all sleek and au courant).

ILikeyourHairyHands · 14/02/2018 21:56

Although maybe I'm being a little bit cruel, it's generally how you wear things rather than where they're from that makes the difference.

Doobigetta · 14/02/2018 22:29

I bought a lot from MV a couple of years ago, but I think their last couple of seasons have been more middle-aged. They used to do really nicely low-key tops and dresses, but they've gone more frou-frou jazzy.

Charismam · 14/02/2018 22:33

I love their shoes but their tops are too floaty and vague. I am 47 so probably typical of their target market but I never like anything just because it's mint velvet. It's just one of a number of websites I peruse. I like how i dress though. There's no look that I would push further if I had more nerve. I don't see the point.

Charismam · 14/02/2018 22:36

I agree Ilikeyourhairhands I used to get compliments on jumpers from country casuals Grin because just occasionally I'd spot something that was a bit chanel-esque, and I wasn't put off buying it because it wasn't a cool brand. I could see it for the individual piece of clothing it was.

goose1964 · 14/02/2018 22:38

Much richer than me , I saw something I liked in the sale and it was still too expensive

Starryskiesinthesky · 14/02/2018 23:16

I think most of the descriptions are right! I like some of MV but think a lot is too dear.

I am 52, i think neither frumpy not edgy, bit safe.

PorkSpork · 14/02/2018 23:40

Dull. Safe.

The kind of person who would have three monthly highlights and describe their style as 'classic with a twist'

Probably with a smug smile.
