Mulberry Bayswater

I've been hankering after a tan heritage/classic Bayswater for the past year or so but have always come to my senses before purchasing. I've just been in Mulberry again to touch one and came very close to buying. I can afford it, but it's a stupid amount to spend on a bag right? It doesn't even fit on my shoulder which I like bags to do.

It's so pretty though. DH convinced me to think on it for another week to see if the urge goes. Grin

Claudia hardware protectors are transparent sticky protection for the metal fastener. They scratch with use and the protectors prevent that.
I think I get them from Handbag Haven.

citychick · 23/02/2018 00:48

Ah congratulations on your bag.
How lovely. Enjoy it.

Thank you Amethyst.

Well done OP. The packaging and moment of reveal are part of the fun. I bottled it on a Bayswater after hankering for one for years, but I still covet a blue one. One day I will be brave enough. I have an Anthony in oak and a Maple. People that are as joyfully shallow as me comment on the Maples beauty frequently.

I didn't plan ahead very well so am waiting for the Collonil waterproof spray to arrive before I actually use it.

I must admit to coveting a double zip Bayswater as well Ronnie, but the weight of it finally put me off. My Del Rey is much lighter and I use it all the time.

Lentilbaby · 24/02/2018 11:15

Congratulations OP! It's gorgeous ❤️

puppymouse · 24/02/2018 11:23

I had one years ago. Couldn't fit on my shoulder and I ended up selling it. Plus the Mulberry quality is nowhere near what it was and yet their prices are horrific. I wouldn't buy another and have had a few different styles.

I’ve just had a new bays in oak and a large willow tote In Mulberry pink ❤️❤️
Congrats on your new bag op

heyok · 04/03/2018 20:23

I have a black one that I would be happy to sell.

I just can't get on with this bag, it's uncomfortable to wear, the flap annoys me, won't go over my shoulder.

ConsistentInsomniac · 04/03/2018 20:58

Good for you OP! They really are the most beautiful and practical bag.

I love my Bayswater - bought by a boyfriend for my birthday, a month into our relationship. Nine years later, the bag and the relationship are still going strong.

PseudoFred · 05/03/2018 18:45

Used it today for the first time and boy, it is heavy! Empty, it feels light enough but as soon as you put anything in it...

I only had a notebook, pen, keys, purse and phone and could feel the weight. Totally adapted to prancing about with one arm cocked though.

I would thoroughly recommend a bag liner. I just bought one for my Alexa and it gives it a bit of structure and adds many pockets.

Leannemelvin87 · 14/05/2018 15:24

Hello. I noticed you have said you would be willing to sell your oak mulberry bayswater. Are you still interested in selling?
Kind regards x

GrannyGrissle · 14/05/2018 19:55

I was randomly gifted one by someone i barely know and tbh they are hugely over hyped. I prefer my Radley Grosvenors massively. More stylish, practical, classic and better (IMO) leather. I only get the Mulberry out if i'm mixing with the nobby nobs Grin. Saying that, if you love it that much and can afford it then go for it OP. I use mine so infrequently it will live forever Confused

PseudoFred · 23/05/2018 22:21

Reporting back after 3 months.

I bloody love the bag and use it every day for work. Sometimes it's stuffed full (and heavy), other times there's just a purse, phone and keys floating around in it.

I rarely feel the need to try and put in on my shoulder but it's possible if not wearing a winter coat. I waterproofed it well and it survived a torrential downpour with no damage although I've scuffed it a bit.

Is it worth £1000? Probably not, I doubt any bag is, but it gives me enormous pleasure to use and is immensely practical for my work life.

Heyok or Magpiemagpie - are you still thinking of selling your bayswater bags? I want one!!!! Let me know thanks.

Possum76 · 11/06/2018 14:43

Pseudofred good on you! I'm glad you like the bag. How do you find the weight?

Ferrero83 · 11/06/2018 20:44

My DH has just very kindly gifted me a heritage Bayswater & I'm thrilled with it, definitely caught the Mulberry bug!

Anyway can anyone recommend me sprays/protector/liner etc which are essential to keep it lovely as I'm hopelessly unprepared?

zenasfuck · 11/06/2018 21:17

@Ferrero83 collonil carbon pro is excellent for water proofing and stain protection

And love lolo do great liners

Ferrero83 · 11/06/2018 21:31
