New thread for those hoping to add a bit of Parisian je ne sais quoi and je m'en fous to their style.

Ooo that's lovely Cailin- where from?

Also love the Tom Ford tote... I intensely dislike "in-your-face" logos, so that calls to my preference for discreetly, well made, wear it to death pieces.
I have a Carolina Herrera trench from many years ago, which is of that ilk. Very well made, french seams, no logo apparent. It must be at least 18years old and still looks fresh. It comes out at this time of year as it's light enough as a throwover, but sturdy enough to stand up to an occasional chill.

botemp · 14/05/2018 19:58

Thanks, Elle, I can see the "seasonal pick" tags.

Advantages of being short probably makes that slit less perilous for me. We have a ba&sh concession here so I'll have to have a look sometime and report back. Would the Dries trousers not make for a nice wedding outfit?

Shock Flo, your fab trousers talk has reminded me I once promised you all the way back in January my mum's awesome Japanese builder's trousers but I've completely forgotten about them until now, so safe to say I won't be missing them. Are you still interested? I'll dig them out and give them a measure to make sure they're workable for you size wise. I like the vibe of that Kaliyana brand, I always wonder where people find items like that as you rarely come across them in shops.

Welcome, Calindeas, that jacket looks great. Where's it from? Love the leather detail at the front. I'm not sure on petite sized ankle grazers as petite doesn't really exist much outside of the UK and USA ime. A lot of French brands do have a lot of low rise though but I'm not sure if they'd be fitted enough around the ankle if you need them taking up a lot. Mango should really get on it, they're already a favourite destination for smaller women.

I've attached pics of my new H&M studio dress (when trying it on last year in a size just a tad too roomy) and the new Zara hat. The brim is really stiff and bright white which made it quite unusual and made me capitulate to evil Zara. Am also contemplating this linen oversized manish blazer from H&M but really feel I should be buying into a proper coat for practical reasons. Just seem to be liking blazers more at the moment. Also, those slidey/mules/pretend slipper thingies (babouches?) are surprisingly more versatile than I originally made them out to be, I've been experimenting loads and think I should consider investing in a proper leather pair.

Flo, that site is both wondrous and so over the top. It would be lovely if they would style stuff adding in some mainstream garments. It becomes a bit too Lagenlook otherwise, and I bet they would sell more. Their vision might be a bit outre for people who would otherwise love it.

peonylover22 · 14/05/2018 20:10

Catching up... So many lovely bags! Welcome Yawning and Calindeas!
I love the jacket too.
Oh dear. I think I’ve fallen in love with the Mulberry Amberley 🙈 It is way over budget but I am hoping for a bonus in my July pay cheque so will try and sit still for the next 10 weeks. If anyone sees it go in a sale before then please alert me! It’s this one. Thank you to Bo for all the bag links, that’s really kind of you. I also really like the Chloe one too (especially its lovely patina) so let me know if you come across that one again too! Typical that I prefer the budget blowing options
Elle, looks like you had a very successful shopping trip to London. I love the pictured items especially the ba&sh skirt. Looking forward to seeing the Dries top too. Your wedding outfit sounds fabulous but all black might be a bit too black for a wedding.
Bo I really like that navy dress. Not a brand I’ve come across before... But I’ve spent so much in the past couple of months that I absolutely mustn’t hunt down their London store (especially if I’m saving for the Muberry!) I also like the H&M blazer, looks like it would be v useful for the summer.
Canters, the charcoal grey SL tote is fabulous! Hopefully it appears in a sale for you.

botemp · 14/05/2018 20:39

Well I suppose we could kindly put out a request on here to have a look out for the Amberley in one of the factory shops/outlet if any posters here live near one. It's probably worth looking out for one at the naughtypidginsnest as well as she always has quite a bit of Mulberry bags.

I have to say the Chloe was slightly overpriced on that site as it's a consignment store, they usually go for around €500. If I see another one I'll let you know.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 14/05/2018 22:05

@ToElleWithIt I see the "seasonal pick" labels but no discount? How do I know if I have sale access? I'm definitely getting one if they are 25 per cent off!

Cailindeas35 · 14/05/2018 23:26

The jacket is from mango.
I'm struggling to find ankle grazers that are petite and narrow enough. The search goes on.

Canters15 · 15/05/2018 03:55

elle yup can see seasonal pick! Arghhh it's taunting me!

Floisme · 15/05/2018 07:21

Sock Ha! yes, like Lagenlook on acid. I do think weird shapes and then prints on top is a step too far but maybe that's a thing now in the world of the avant garde. I would love to spend a day there just trying everything on with normal stuff. Anyway my trousers are honestly not in that league - wearing them today with a plain T shirt and that 1950s jacket I mentioned upthread and I don't think I look at all outlandish. But maybe I'm deluding myself Grin I've also just realised I have an event at work which is very informal dress wise but I don't want to stand out, let alone be remembered as the woman in funny trousers, so I may lose my nerve.

And bo if you're absolutely certain you won't regret it - and if you do, just let me know - then yes I would absolutely love them and feel very honoured. Thank you Flowers
Re size, I'm normally 8-10 (increasingly a 10). My waist is around 27" but it's very high up, so sometimes the measurements can be right but it still won't fit. Hips around 38".

MrsMariaPolouvicka · 15/05/2018 08:25

de-lurking to say @Canters15 If you log in to NAP and then have Private Sale in a red box at the far left of their drop down options across the top, then you have access. The discount is applied at checkout.

It confused me to as I didn't get an email alerting me to the sale, even in my spam folder. Thanks to @ToElleWithIt for the heads up

PS I wasn't after anything you were btw, I'm after jeans :)

ToElleWithIt · 15/05/2018 08:39

Feel a bit bad now for mentioning it. I got an email telling me it was on. I think you have to be logged into your account to get it and I presume it's only for some customers. I can't really think of anyway I could order it for you that doesn't involve massive amount of trust from a stranger, but if you want to - you're welcome to! Usually their summer sale should follow this.

I'll keep my eye out for the Amberly

I like the khaki Tom Ford too, but am sitting on my hands. Agree that TF bags were verrrry overpriced for a while.

Lovely jacket calindeas

I like the blazer botemp and it would cover that spring outwear you were saying you were short of?! The black trousers are great with it. Are they the Studio ones? marks date in diary to search eBay in 2 years time

Dries top attached. Looks a bit dreary in the photo (maybe the way it's hanging out), but I think it is nice with Papal trousers and other work trousers and skirts (like the marbled one) tucked in. I wore the papal trousers to work yesterday with a black silk Tee. I struggle to think of trousers as a wedding outfit, maybe that's social conditioning. I don't think I've seen anyone my age wear them at a wedding though of course there's no reason not to.

I think you should wear the trousers Floisme. I think when combined with other less voluminous items they'll look great.

No luck for me when logging in or on the app. I think it may be staggered, they do that with their regular sales as they've definitely had crashing issues in the past. France is the last to get access IIRC. Anyhow, turns out the bag I was looking out for was on MyTheresa not NAP.

It would cover that spring gap but the pragmatic in me is insisting a spring 'coat' really should be rain proof at least... Then again pragmatic as I am in all other facets of life it's never really served me well in dressing. Yes, they're the studio trousers, they're actually a deep dark blue but if you wear enough black around it, it reads as black. I'm finding it really versatile and keep finding new ways to wear it. It's actually still for sale on my H&M site (the men's stuff doesn't seem to sell out) but in the larger sizes. Love the Dries top, how does it look with the trousers?

Interesting, I'm usually the only one in a skirt or dress at formal occasions. Though younger (children and teens basically) and much older usually wear dresses but tend to wear them with a begrudging scowl. Everyone else just wears trousers.

peony, your bag is £55 cheaper on John Lewis. Not sure why, it doesn't appear to be an offer.

Calindea, if you're a size 6-8 you could look at the Zara and Mango girls section. Their two largest sizes (ages 11-12 and 13-14) are pretty much adult sized just shorter.

Flo, you have to wear the trousers! I'd feel obligated to rescind my offer otherwise, I was completely operating on the notion you were the Lady of the Funny Trousers Wink In all seriousness I can't fathom regretting sending them off, I'm rather embarrassed I completely forgot about them when I had merely intended to set them aside and give it some time to make sure I wouldn't regret it. I'll get the measurements up later today, I'm more concerned they'd be too big and would be too much work to take in.

Will also try to remember jeans chat later today as I've been fitting some which may be of interest to others.

OCSock · 15/05/2018 14:49

While I don't live near a Mulberry outlet, I am going to see DM for a couple of days and I shall pass quite close both to Bicester and to Shepton Mallet. I'd probably prefer to make a detour to Shepton Mallet, because Bicester is a bit of a scrum unless you arrive at sparrow-f*rt. Is this at all helpful?

OCSock · 15/05/2018 14:52

That was for Peony obviously....

TheGrumpySquirrel · 15/05/2018 20:33

GUYS I FIGURED IT OUT (net a porter)

You have to go to "proceed to checkout" to see the discount! It's a secret sale...

Btw I'm logged in on the app

YSL tote is £513 which is 25 per cent off full price

Go go go!

MrsMariaPolouvicka · 15/05/2018 20:48

You have to go to "proceed to checkout" to see the discount! It's a secret sale...

I said that! You do need to have the Private Sale red button link as well though I think....

TheGrumpySquirrel · 15/05/2018 21:10

Oh sorry Maria in my excitement I didn't read back - I can't see a red thing on my app though.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 15/05/2018 22:20

Okay so I got this lot for 25% off! Going to choose between the two Chloe shoe colours (pink suede not practical at all, I know) when they arrive. I still have to re-order those bobbies loafers too.

Le ridicule ne tue pas....les Parisiennes de Mumsnet
Canters15 · 16/05/2018 02:45

Balls balls balls!! No private sale for me, still a full price. Hmmmmph!! Obviously I haven't spent enough on NAP in my life to date Grin

Canters15 · 16/05/2018 02:45

Love your choices by the way grumpy

Floisme · 16/05/2018 07:09

I got changed Blush

Sorry everyone, I feel bad now. It was the right decision though. I am very lucky in that most of the time I can wear whatever I like for work but there are occasions when I need to fade into the background and yesterday was one of them. Luckily I remembered before I left the house.

But I am wearing them today! With a very sedate v neck cotton jumper.

peonylover22 · 16/05/2018 07:12

Oooh yes please Sock, if it’s not too much hassle! My sister lives in Bristol so could always be despatched to Shepton Mallet if there is a bargain to be had. I’m actually going to visit her this weekend sans enfant which I’m tremendously excited about but I don’t think our pedicure/royal wedding watching/ afternoon tea schedule is going to allow for a trip to the Mulberry outlet. I do really like that little shopping village though, so much calmer than Bicester!
Elle love the Dries top! What excellent taste you have.
That’s quite the haul Grumpy Squirrel! Some lovely choices there. How are you feeling about the maternity dressing at the moment?

peonylover22 · 16/05/2018 07:15

PS Returning 2 more pairs of Bobbies sandals - a gold pair that were slightly too sparkly that I thought might rub and a tan suede pair that were comfortable but ugly. Am trying to be more discerning with my purchases and only keep things that I love but this has meant that I will have bought 8 pairs of shoes and returned 6 this month. Which is a whole lot of post office time!

quirkychick · 16/05/2018 07:18

flo you must wear the trousers, I think if you wear them with more classic/basic stuff it would work. I always feel if I'm wearing something I'm not sure of, if I wear it with favourites or easy pieces, it feels more in my comfort zone iyswim. Talking of funny trousers, yesterday I was wearing an ancient and much loved pair of linen trousers from La Redoute which are baggy with a kind of long panel that wraps over, so they look a bit like a sarong but trousers (not sure how well I've described that) they always get lots of love but I wore them with a plain tee and leather trainers. In fact, they need the zip changing, but I've ended up wearing them twice instead of taking them to be mended Blush.

Loving everybody's picks, good luck with the Saint Laurent bag, Canters.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 16/05/2018 07:48

@quirkychick love the sound of those linen trousers.

@peonylover22 okay thanks, now 26 weeks with an obvious bump so have a few staples that work (H&M maternity jeans and a couple of structured work dresses from ASOS maternity) that I wear with my normal jackets and jumpers. I can get away with a long loose fit shirt over trousers but I also have a nice wrap top in shirt material (if that makes sense!) which is maternity so fits the bump nicely. I might get a second one actually. I've found that loose dresses/skirts just make me look fat, so I either have to have a bump hugging dress/tight pencil skirt, or skinny trousers (which work with either a loose top or fitted). The warmer weather has been more challenging for clothes choices but it's cooled recently to a more reasonable temp! Never thought I'd be pleased about that!
