WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, WEEK FOUR

WideWebWitch · 23/04/2007 08:26

Week 4 of the third (I think) boot camp of the year , welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I will draw a discreet veil over last week and vow to be better this week.

Eating granola as I type and have a lovely late (for me) start today as have an off site meeting, yay, so am dropping both children off and then still have half an hour of 'working at home' before my meeting

Just signing in for week 4, www, does your veil extend as far as my house? Yesterday, particularly bad, as was at a party all day and distinctly had 3 or 4 glasses wine, plus champagne, but it was LOVELY.

I'm going to concentrate on walking lots this week and trying to do more exercise - this is definitely where I fall down, as I think we are fairly healthy in what we eat generally, but I do tend to avoid too much exercise - www I need you here to go walking with again!

WideWebWitch · 23/04/2007 09:14

Yes I miss Leigh Woods Tortoiseshell, I haven't found any woods here yet although Iota has told me where they are, we just haven't got around to it.

The veil can be drawn where ever you need it, please make free with it

I have worn sunscreen religiously this weekend but the stuff I have is so chalky and heavy it makes me look like a ghoul.
Aim his week is to buy some sort of tinted moisturiser/ sunscreen.

Booze - v good, just a glass on Fri, sat and Sun night. Dp is not drinking atm so that is helping a lot.

Have just inherited a pedometer from friend - can anyone tell me what a weight-losing number of steps would be?

Water - fine
Cream - fine
Hands - like an old crone's keep forgetting to put it on.
Healthy food - yes, very except for butter and parmesan-laden risotto for supper yesterday....

Sadly still feeling ill with bad throat and issues at home - so happiness a bit elusive at the moment.

motherinferior · 23/04/2007 10:00

I almost finished the brie last night , leaving that annoying stump that proves you didn't actually scoff everything, oh no, you just took a small nibble.

Today is another day. I shall go swimming. Although have also found massive leaking crack in our downstairs ceiling, eek!

yoyo · 23/04/2007 10:03

I like Mondays when the previous week's shortcomings magically disappear and hope for a GOOD week returns!

All boxes ticked so far today. Aim to get in an extra walk every day.
Puddle - I think if you wear the pedometer for a week and note your steps you then increase your target by 10% the following week. 10 000 a day is the recommended one for health benefits. Hope you feel better soon.

Dingle · 23/04/2007 10:21

Hello everyone. Bit of a mixed bag at the weekend, had a lovely walk thorough the bluebells in the woods yesterday...after a lovely chicken salad dinner (but it was washed down with some rather lovely wine too!)

Found my pedometer....so far done just over 4000 steps today.
Body cream- daily. Will try the Dove summery one later in the week after shopping!
Handcream...not as often as I could.
Sunscreen- daily with moisturiser.
Water....errrr..... must do better.
Healthy food- could do better.
No booze- could do better.

Going to book myself in for a rather drastic change of hairstyle! Thought about this one!!

yoyo · 23/04/2007 10:53

Dingle - I like that style. Will it involve having much chopped off?

I have got used to my shorter cut and DD1 tells me it is much trendier and that I look younger. A huge compliment from her as she is rather critical and outspoken in that pre-teen way!

foxinsocks · 23/04/2007 10:59

ahh thank you for all the well wishes about dd on the other thread. She has a raging temperature so isn't at school but is, at least, not throwing up anymore! And so far (touch lots of wood), no-one else has come down with it!

Exercise is my bete noir too - though I reckon I do a fair bit of walking every day. I should get a pedometer I suppose - where did you all get yours from?

I've had toast for breakfast and will be have a chicken salad for lunch. I'm trying hard on the water front - I find it makes such a difference (esp when I wake up in the morning - no cloudy head!) if I can glug down 2 litres.

Dingle - just saw your ORT thread. Have a look on the Bookpeople site as they have an offer on at the moment which looks a bargain. I am going to get them for my DS.

motherinferior · 23/04/2007 11:54

Can I add it's the fox's birthday (she is ridiculously young) today?

The leak appeared to have abated last time I looked but I am In Major Denial.

monkeytrousers · 23/04/2007 12:59

Happy birthday Foxy!

Another week already..I'm doing well on the food and exercise side, but stressing a bit about DS and his emerging violent tendencies.

Marina · 23/04/2007 15:32

Happy birthday foxy - no vomit I hope!
I have just ordered an Omron II Walking Pro pedometer from Amazon after batters recommended it. Get dp to buy you a super-romantic pedometer as a belated birthday gift!
Water is definitely making me feel better too
That is a lovely haircut dingle - have you been and gorn and dunnit it yet?

foxinsocks · 23/04/2007 17:18

Thanks everyone (naughty MI )!

ooh marina, that pedometer looks good - thanks for the recommendation. Just the sort of thing I will obsess about for a bit . I like the thought of being able to see how far I've walked.

monkeytrousers, how old is ds? we have done violent tendencies here so may be able to help.

motherinferior · 23/04/2007 18:38

I have stomach ache and deadlines. Swimming is off. Must hammer keys. DP handling Blokes re what is apparently leaky shower. Don't panic, anyone, he's in charge

foxinsocks · 23/04/2007 18:54

oh noooooo MI. Hope it's not all this talk of vomiting .

motherinferior · 23/04/2007 19:03

I have written 713 words. And just remembered I can do an insert box. Which means I'm suddenly trying to get rather a lot said in not much space. Why do I never learn?????

Marina · 23/04/2007 19:39

But has the shower crashed through your kitchen ceiling yet?

motherinferior · 23/04/2007 19:50

Oh god. We may get away without spending absolutely masses. It's out of bounds for the forseeable (we do have a bath). Also DD2 informs me she has told her pre-school teacher that Mummy Has A Marvellous Bottom - a quote from me in jest - which I suppose is better than her previous feat regaling her friends about Mummy's and Daddy's Furry Bottoms

SimplySparkling · 23/04/2007 22:32

Will do batters. I had a very short time in town on Sat and couldn't go in today but hope to tomorrow.

Dingle I took a look at the website and started noting my favourites ready for a shortlist. I'm getting a colour and cut on Fri. Thanks! P.S. I need to e-mail you about a christening card, if that is okay.

  • Sunscreen ~ soon, honestly.
  • No or little booze. I had a glass of wine today but that's all.
  • Walking is important ~ I did quite a bit in work but not outside work today.
  • Lots of water ~ done
  • Apply body cream as often as possible ~ will do tonight. I think I put some on this a.m.
  • Use hand cream ~ done
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if poss ~ am going soon
  • Eat healthily ~ done
  • Be happy ~ a busy but good day.
WideWebWitch · 24/04/2007 07:23

Oh no re shower MI. We had water pouring through the ceiling in the hall last night too, must be the week for it or something. At least ours is a rented house which means Not Our Problem,I think they haven't connected the overflow bit on the bath to an actual pipe, durr.

Well my whole household was in bed by 8.30 and asleep by 9-9.30pm last night, me included.

Not bad ish food wise

granola
home made reduced fat hummus sandwich, so I reckon 350 cals
3 apples
a few pine nuts, walnuts, brazils
a piece of left over home made pizza from Sun night so it had sardines, capers, onion, garlic, red pepper, aubergine and a bit of cheese on it.
and then dh handed me a CHIP SANDWICH in bed and I had to eat it. But it was my supper and was only about ten chips and at least only 1 piece of bread.
no booze

no walking yesterday though because no lunch as I was out of the office but will manage it today I reckon and it's lovely and drizzly here today so I am happy walking in it. (I do mean it, I hate the sun, love autumnal weather best of all)

Well done on making hair appt SS! Hmm, I might get a pedometer then. Puddle, I use Clinique super city block, factor 25, don't think it's too bad and doesn't make me look ghostly.

OP posts:
Dingle · 24/04/2007 08:06

WWW- don't you think it's worrying when you fall asleep that early!!! I felt absolutely shattered last night, and soo cold. We decided to go up to bed and watch a DVD. LOL- I don't think I even got past the introduction credits!!!!

My pedometer accidentally got reset yeaterday, but I think I only managed about 9250 steps- will try harder today.

Going to book in for my hair to be done today too!!

Need to have a good read through this later and get some healthy eating ideas!

SS- no problem!
