Busty Grin you're having a laugh.

Kitsharrington · 07/02/2018 10:42

My IG is one big ad for Hush this morning because they are all at some breakfast, manically gushing.

Pleasesendwine · 07/02/2018 12:03

Hush and josh wood colour kits. I’ve seen 3 bloggers so far promoting this. Surely would be more effective if one well known blogger used it and showed us the great results rather then offering it to everyone to try and promote. I feel it cheapens the products. Also Bobbi Brown foundation kits......

Paintbox · 07/02/2018 13:24

IVe just seen on wardrobe icons Laura Fantacci saying she is a 34dd. That woman needs a bra intervention, she is about a size 6-8 so I’ve no idea why she’s wearing a 34 back!!

chloechloe · 07/02/2018 13:55

Yes Hush and Skinceuticals are doing the rounds today. Also did anybody see those ginormous boxes of foundation that NARS recently sent out? Presumably every colour in their range. I wonder what they do with all the stuff they get? Such a waste.

Anna EH made me Hmm today - a bunch of balloons turned up in her flat and she was pondering aloud if somebody had sent her "just" balloons. They she discovered there were a whole load of CT products with it. Panic over.

I've recently started following Emily Norris after hearing about her on here. She seems really down to earth and sweet. But today she has an ad for a thermometer for natural family planning. You can use it to TTC or not TC and she's going to use it for the latter. Good luck with that love. You might want to cross your fingers too for good measure.

ElspethFlashman · 07/02/2018 14:01

Yeah get ready for the Hush onslaught over the next few days........it's bad enough on here, with every month some Hush sack dress in Mumsnet Loves.

I will give some credit here though to Kat Farmer who got a bit of a hammering over featuring Hush too much (which was true, tbh) and theres been barely any Hush on her site ever since. A blessed relief. I don't mind a bit of it (though since I'm in Ireland it's not relevant, shipping is exorbitant) but only a bit.

Pleasesendwine · 07/02/2018 14:09

Surely these bloggers want to think ‘outside the box’ now and want to be individual. When 5 bloggers that are on your insta all turn up to the same event (the same bloggers that go to EVERYTHING together), it’s just such poor/lazy advertising.
Bring something new to the table, don’t just go because you get to have alovely brekkie somewhere!

Softkitty2 · 07/02/2018 16:03

Yes i wonder the same.. What do bloggers do when they receive the whole colour range of a foundation or lipstick?

Any bloggers here who can tell us?

Softkitty2 · 07/02/2018 16:07

Yes a lot of luxury beauty brands do have the same girls going to the same events.

They are not very diverse either. They have a go to WOC its either samantha maria or patricia bright.

DillyDilly · 07/02/2018 16:13

@softkitty2. Was wondering the same - what good is 15 tubes of foundation, only one or two will suit. What are they meant to do with the rest ???

Ithasbeenalongtime · 07/02/2018 16:19

@chloechloe, Samantha Mumba was given a really hard time for doing an ad for one of those thermometers. I can't see the ad on that Emily Norris feed though, did she remove it? Her feed is just ad after ad though - Dyson, some juice, more Dyson, Asos (a "haul" is this an ad?), Lego, Nivea, its relentless!

Delatron · 07/02/2018 16:21

Just came on here to mention the ICONS story. WIT is not 'busty'! And Petra is hardly 'curvy'. Honestly!

Theonlyoneiknow · 07/02/2018 18:19

Funnily enough spotted my first Josh Wood one today and dont remember seeing mention of it being a gift/ad

Pleasesendwine · 07/02/2018 18:24

DMBL40 got the box of lipsticks and balloons, exactly same shade as AH, boring .........

nipersvest · 07/02/2018 18:37

They’re all getting bloody balloons now. A note to Charlotte Tilbury PR, that does not make me want to purchase your make up, in fact the extravagance puts me off, a discount code that mear mortals can use is a better form of promotion. The sheer volume of freebies is becoming vulgar.

chloechloe · 07/02/2018 19:07

longtime you're right it's not an ad on the feed, my mistake. She showed it on Stories today.

WipsGlitter · 07/02/2018 19:12

Exactly! What would watching someone get something for FREE make me want to buy it???

A Life to Style (formerly School Gate Style) has a great post on all of this. insta

Ithasbeenalongtime · 07/02/2018 19:25

Always liked Avril! She totally gets it 👍🏼

Delatron · 07/02/2018 19:32

I really dislike Charlotte Tillbury l, all this 'darlings' this and 'darlings' that. Constant sending free stuff to all and sundry. I have no idea whether her stuff is good or not.

RosieLig · 07/02/2018 19:39

Just popped into this thread and it’s so negative and quite frankly a bit bitchy- talking about bloggers boobs 😱🙄 Why do you all follow these people if they annoy you so much? Seems like a lot of negative energy and wasted time!

I think it started out as a useful way to draw attention to the whole blogger and brand thing but it’s just got personal and nasty now. Step away!!!

Mrsdoubleskulls · 07/02/2018 19:42

I love Avril as well. She is always transparent, which makes her more trustworthy. Go figure.

I saw a couple of Hush breakfast mentions (with CLTS offering her (very valid) reasons for not attending), and the CT balloons and makeup, and agree, it actually lessons the appeal of the brand to me. I certainly won’t be investigating either.

I did, however, love watching Kat’s son make a fort from the CT box, as that is just what my 9 year old son would have done. It really tickled my fancy (and her laugh can be infectious). I think this is what sets Kat apart (for the most part). Realism with a large hint of aspiration.

Mrsdoubleskulls · 07/02/2018 19:56

Yikes, RosieLig, I generally don’t think this thread has been particularly negative at all. It has, for the most part, been an intelligent discussion about the new frontier of social media and advertising.

With regards to LF, if you describe yourself online as “busty”, in an article about body shape, I would venture a guess that you could expect people to make comment (if not question the validity of the assertion).

General interest in your own interest (following fashion bloggers, either via blogs or Instagram) warrants discussion for some. If that doesn’t interest you, then you can always “step away”.

DillyDilly · 07/02/2018 20:05

@RosieLG. Maybe you should step away. In case it escaped your notice, Laura F described herself as busty this week, people here are saying she doesn’t appear busty - where on earth is the negativity in that ???

CountFosco · 07/02/2018 20:08

Just came on to link to Life to Style's post but I see I've been beaten to it. Very sensible post from a lovely blogger who has a separate career. There's a theme there isn't there!

RosieLig · 07/02/2018 20:08

I’ve dipped in and out of this thread and I agree it has been in the most part interesting (although can’t say I’m surprised at the whole gifting thing!) I posted because I think it’s become overly personal and the boob thing was weird in my view! A lot of the last pages have been negative and whilst I totally get the interest in following blogs (dip into a few myself), it seems to be taking up too much time and a lot of negative energy for some people!
