And I’m sure every blogger out there thinks we are bitter/twisted and jealous for making these comments. Quite frankly I couldn’t care, because I think they know deep down they are taking every opportunity thrown to them (or freebie at them) regardless of what it looks like because if it means the tiniest bit of exposure or the chance of getting a free gift they just do it . That’s why we are annoyed, because the real reason behind why most women started blogging years ago has slipped into unchcatered territory. And I think if many bloggers were honest, the only reason they started some form of transparency was because WE CALLED THEM OUT ON IT ON HERE!!!!!

Rainshowers · 14/02/2018 18:00

I'm definitely not. Just frustrated by the companies that treat actual customers this way. I can afford to buy my own overpriced candles!

And as if by magic Jo Malone have just emailed to say they're doing the free gift with purchase thing they did last year!

trixymalixy · 14/02/2018 18:03

I had to laugh at the wardrobe icons skiwear edit.

£114 on a velvet hair bow?!?! My jacket didn’t even cost that much!

And Perfect Moment have obviously chucked WIT and Deborah Brett a load of their skiwear for free.

Deborah Brett’s Ibiza house is gorgeous. But where do they get their money from?!

WipsGlitter · 14/02/2018 18:54

To be fair that Jo Malone thing was great!

I saw someone doing an cheaper alternative to the WIT hair bow. Can't remember who though.

I asked upthread where DB's mo why came from! She must have family money - I've IMDB checked her husband and he doesn't seem to do much either.

trixymalixy · 14/02/2018 19:43

It was one of the bloggers with 40 in her name that did the alternative hair bow I think. They all seem to blend into one with their similar names and blogger uniform of slogan sweatshirts/Bella Freud 1970 jumpers!!

sanpelligrino · 14/02/2018 19:46

Think this thread is BANG ON. Have read it all chuckling away. It's the sheer grabbiness of it all - Miele washing machine anyone? It's ludicrous and embarrassing. That's why they are touchy about it. Kat and Erica I have respect for - Erica in particular is a genuine editor and you can see the effort that goes into what she does. It's editorial. Kat I like because she IS stylish and funny. Even if I don't agree with Botox (have you seen the woman who did hers? I wouldn't let her touch me!). MOD and DLAM and MP are all bloody irritating beyond belief. That Boden campaign was embarrassingly bad. MP wangs on about flex appeal but seriously? As a cynic I'd say It's just a way of keeping her in the public eye. All this virtue signalling is just another strategy to keep things current. It's meaningless. Her book is the biggest load of overwritten crap. Notice how MOD went off to Africa after these threads popped up? Hmm. IG used to be inspiring source of interesting people doing different things but it's a sham now. I find their whole brand of sisterhood fake and transparent.

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 14/02/2018 20:05

Whilst the sycophants carry on bolstering their ego, the arguments made in threads like this are going to have little impact on them sadly. I know a few have taken some of the constructive criticisms on board, but I feel it has been very much done through gritted teeth.

PavlovaPrincess · 14/02/2018 20:34

MP wangs on about flex appeal but seriously?

I'm ready for a flaming here but I bet Papa Pukka won't be applying for flexible working. Anna has the baby with her everywhere she goes.

Also, while flexible working is a brilliant idea, I do feel it will only apply to middle class families like the Pukkas who work mainly in media and offices. The ones who would perhaps benefit from it most (i.e parents who work in minimum wage jobs doing care work, shop work, who work in call centres) wouldn't stand a chance of getting their flexible work request granted (although I'll be happy to be corrected if that's not the case).

Anyway, that's besides the point of the thread.

KimchiLaLa · 14/02/2018 20:43

I don't understand how Anneli Bush has managed to gain any following. She dresses incredibly normally and there's nothing worth following there.

WipsGlitter · 14/02/2018 20:45

I totally agree. Is MP on maternity leave or is she unemployed?

On the instamums thread someone said it was all so middle class and privileged. It's the drama from the mundane and the competitive I'm the shittist Mum act as well.

KimchiLaLa · 14/02/2018 20:47

Who is MP?

WipsGlitter · 14/02/2018 20:48

Mother Pukka (whose whole family are in on the act - sister pukka WTAF?)

Pleasesendwine · 14/02/2018 20:48

Mother pukka aka Anna whitehouse

KimchiLaLa · 14/02/2018 20:50

I don't follow them as even the bloody name puts me off - Pukka! Wtf!

Pleasesendwine · 14/02/2018 20:55

The family promote flexi working but she gets involved in numerous ads, kids food/clothes/washing powder list goes on

Ithasbeenalongtime · 14/02/2018 20:58

I feel pretty passionately about flexible working, and anything that gets it talked about and promoted has to be a good thing because it will eventually filter into all types of work, middle class or not. I agree though that there must be an element of MP creating a niche for herself, which has to be good for her own personal brand, but its a good cause and you can't knock her for that.

Pleasesendwine · 14/02/2018 20:59

Absolutely agree......

WipsGlitter · 14/02/2018 21:03

Indeed... but I'm not sure flashmobs are the way to get there...

Ithasbeenalongtime · 14/02/2018 21:07

No, I don’t think flashmobs are going to change things. Although maybe someone said that at one point in the past to the suffragettes and their chains 😜

sanpelligrino · 14/02/2018 21:10

Anyone would think she invented the part time job.

ElspethFlashman · 14/02/2018 21:22

As a nurse I always get a bit depressed at her eulogising about the possibilities of Flexible Working. Not in my world, love.

WipsGlitter · 14/02/2018 21:27

I guess her response would be that you could work one day a week and sell your soul on instagram the other four days!

ElspethFlashman · 14/02/2018 22:19

I just find it a little naive sometimes, her insistance that it can be attained across the workforce if you just have all the cogent arguments.

So far it seems to be very big corporate companies who are being flexible. I do applaud her efforts (cos it clearly is an effort with baby permanently attached) but it does seem very corporate focused.

Also can I just say? Anna, Maternity leave is for a REASON. If your child won't take a bottle and you have to tote it everywhere, don't go back to work yet!!! It just seems waaaaaay too hard. She is knackered, it's all exhausting,.....just WHY???! Surely to god they can pay the mortgage with the #ads and stuff without her schlepping all over the UK speaking to companies with a baby literally attached to you under the PowerPoint screen. Just stay home for a few more months! WTF?!?!

CookingUpAStormTonight · 14/02/2018 22:23

Oh yes, Wips - that's exactly it. The bloody drama of the privileged and the mundane. I actually think they are a step back for feminism with all this Pilates, woe is me - I am a crap parent competition. Do they all have to sit in their sodding cars to prove they are school run mums - just one of you, get a bloody imagination. It is like a game of bingo ticking them off every week.

wisterialanes · 14/02/2018 22:37

Does anyone know why MP's baby constantly wears a hat? Showing my age here but I do worry she won't feel the benefit when she goes outside......
