A primer, fine. I'm not especially interested in it but it's not a bad item by any means.

snowflakestar · 22/12/2017 07:48

I don't wear foundation either, but I'll wear it alone. I'll wear it on top of moisturiser though, as it does have alcohol and silicone in it. So I'm not sure how much of a skin hydrating boost I'll get!

10thingsIhateAboutTheDailyMail · 22/12/2017 07:51

Primers are always silicon, and just "ball" off

Hate primers, dammit

First thing I hate, I can live with that!

ihatethecold · 22/12/2017 08:09

10things

Smashbox do a primer in a pot that doesn’t have silicone in.
I use it.

Trills · 22/12/2017 08:17

Ingredient #2 ends in "cone" so yes we are talking about a silicone primer here.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 22/12/2017 08:26

Meh. I already use a primer that I like (the Nip + Fab Viper Venom one) and this doesn't look to be anything special. I will give it a go though.

PodgeBod · 22/12/2017 08:46

Always happy to try a new primer. I've tried a few but haven't found one I love so fingers crossed.

WindyWednesday · 22/12/2017 09:14

Not sure I want silicone on my skin.

In all my years working in the beauty industry I have never heard of a nail polish that needs applying in the the manner miffy2 described.

Its looked lovely for about 2hrs before the lifting happened.

The glitter is too dense and heavy for the varnish imo. I tried with top coat and it made no difference.

MrsPestilence · 22/12/2017 09:31

The primer and beauty sponge will be re-gifted. 20 out of 22 is not bad. Recipient will love them.

I put the nail varnish on alone and over gold, blue, dark grey and mid grey. I did an ombre effect on the ones with an underneath colour and got lots of positive comments. It lasted 60 hours (apart from one big scuff when I was cooking, an hour after application), then catastrophic failure. It flaked off in huge lumps taking the base coats with it. The easiest to remove glitter ever Confused Grin

Trills · 22/12/2017 09:38

The glittery nail polish looked nice for a day and a half on me - I then took it off because I was redoing all my nails (I'd just chucked it on top of my existing polish to see what it looked like).

PodgeBod · 22/12/2017 09:39

What is bad about silicone in cosmetics? I've never really looked at ingredients before Blush

happypoobum · 22/12/2017 09:51

I use Benefit Porefessional primer as it does such a superb job of filling in all the crater like holes in my nose Xmas Grin

I will give this one a go though, always fun to try a different product.

What is primer and how do you use it?

HeyRoly · 22/12/2017 10:49

You put in under foundation (and over foundation). It primes your skin, makes foundation go on better and last longer. Apparently. I've used them in the past but generally don't have time to use one anymore. I'll give this a whirl though.

HeyRoly · 22/12/2017 10:50

*And over MOISTURISER. Brain not functioning today Grin

happypoobum · 22/12/2017 11:35

Yes, I find primer gives a much better finish.

It's a bit like using polyfilla on any cracks or holes before you paint the wall Xmas Smile

I only use it on problem areas rather than my whole face but I use EL doublewear so I don't really have any problems with my foundation not lasting.....

snowflakestar · 22/12/2017 12:26

Thanks Windy.

Sorry for going off on a tangent but does anyone know of a similar clear polish with glitter in it that isn't too dense, and that stays on?! And that's on Amazon Prime! Have checked my collection but I don't have anything similar, and I'd like to treat my daughter for the Christmas holidays. Has anyone heard of Color Club? There are a couple which look ok but a couple of bad reviews are putting me off!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 22/12/2017 13:11

Snow search Mavala Glitter Nail Polish, there's quite a few on Prime.
I have Mavala glitter nail polish in Pure & it's really good.

snowflakestar · 22/12/2017 13:18

Thank you, Tracy.

Skinfulnappies46 · 22/12/2017 13:19

Looks good. Will try this tomorrow!

AlannaOfTrebond · 22/12/2017 13:39

I just bought Essie Set in Stones on prime and it's lovely.

Here it is over the top of navy blue and it's been on for a week.

I use EL doublewear

I bought two pots of the stuff before I realised it was drying and aged me terribly :( How do you counteract this? (Shame the rose oil has a rollerball, or I could have added a few drops of that).

My glitter polish was the "stardust" shade, which has finer pieces of glitter and so doesn't lift.

The lipgloss just smells like menthol cigarettes to me. ~shrugs~

happypoobum · 22/12/2017 14:16

Re EL Doublewear, no I have never found it remotely drying but I don't have dry skin at all. If anything it is oily.......

EL have a different foundation for people with very dry skin, I like to go to House of Fraser in Oxford Street to buy mine it makes me feel like a grown up . There is a lovely lady on the EL counter called Alex who is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.

happypoobum · 22/12/2017 14:18

Oh! Were there two different silvery nail polish shades, one that was shit and one that is nice?

Mine is Stardust...........I haven't tried it because of all the negative reviews here.

OP posts:
maggiso · 22/12/2017 14:41

Mine is stardust too. I have just put some on.i am hopeless with nail varnish so I thought a see through one might not show the mistakes!
