Glittery nails.

Tacky.
Alright if you're about 6 years old.

runwalkrun · 19/12/2017 12:21

I like the bottle. It's a good quality bottle, but glitter nail polish is something you find in Claires Accessories and eventually hopefully grow out of Hmm

Why can't they put a normal grownup colour in the calendar, instead of either glitter and yellowy gold?
I get the feeling they've used the M & S calendar as a dumping ground for difficult to wear colours that only look right at certain times of the year.

Commuterface · 19/12/2017 13:26

Oh dear. The nail varnish is a "no" for me. I've got my DDs (4 and 6) glittery kids nail varnish/peel stuff from Claire's for their stockings and it reminds me of that.

WindyWednesday · 19/12/2017 13:40

Maybe I like tacky. Blush

HeyRoly · 19/12/2017 14:24

Didn't realise there was an age limit on glittery nails. I love the rainbow pastel colours. It's true it's hell to get off though Grin

snowflakestar · 19/12/2017 14:34

I've just tried some. I'm not keen. I've nothing against glittery nails for Christmas but this particular one just doesn't work on me. I wish it were just silver. As well as on my plain nails I tried it over the gold one on one finger in case it looked better but it looked over the top. I've discovered that I quite like the gold one though, I think it suits me (though I only tried one nail, and the light isn't great at the moment!). I will let my daughter wear the glittery one as a treat during the Christmas holidays. As long as it comes off my nails fairly easily! It does feel really rough.

snowflakestar · 19/12/2017 14:36

I couldn't be bothered to find my nail varnish remover so I just applied another coat of nail varnish and wiped quickly and it came off easily. A bit of a waste of nail varnish though...

Skinfulnappies46 · 19/12/2017 16:04

Have to say I love glittery anything!

mowglik · 19/12/2017 16:16

Not a fan of nail polish generally so this will be wasted on me (but can’t swap as my ds has pulled the clear lid bit off Angry).

I’ve seen some pics of ombré glitter nails which looked good though, ideas for those interested

working from home today so I've managed to apply 4 coats of the stuff on each nail. Guess that won't be coming off in a hurry Grin. It's ok for Christmas I suppose.

Hareinthewoods · 19/12/2017 16:43

Used it over a red OPI. Excuse the fat fingers.

Mine is chipping already.

The glitter has changed throughout the day. It’s more white now. I’m going to take it off now, it’s really drying.

LizzieSiddal · 19/12/2017 17:15

This is another one for my DDs.

snowflakestar · 19/12/2017 17:34

Mine has gone really white and chalky, I don't like it at all! I'm wondering if it'd look better over a brighter pink colour. I don't think I could even give it away!

WindyWednesday · 19/12/2017 17:56

That’s interesting to hear others has gone white. I realised the white in mine is where it’s lifted away from my nail, so huge chunks have chipped off.

Not as happy as I was when I opened the box. Trying to work out how to prevent it happening. But I’m afraid it’s something that happens with really cheap nail polish. So I’m disappointed to find it in the calendar.

Last years polish was lovely. Still using it.

snowflakestar · 19/12/2017 18:01

Now you've said it I think that's what it could be - the varnish lifting away from the nail. I bet it'll chip later. Very disappointing.

Hareinthewoods · 19/12/2017 18:23

I didn't put a thick coat of it on but after a good few hours it hasn't dried properly and when I've bumped my nails it's made big grooves in it. I think it's a dud, but really can't complain as the calendar has been so good otherwise.

Anymajordude · 19/12/2017 18:25

I think it's meant to be white, like icy frost. I'm undecided on it.

BlueEyedWonder · 19/12/2017 18:33

My DD (13 years) is very pleased with the 2 nail varnishes. Me less so Hmm

MoonlightMedicine · 19/12/2017 19:26

Ah well I’m another tacky one. I like a bit of sparkle every now and then.

snowflakestar · 19/12/2017 19:30

Chunks have now come off mine too. I've never had the lifting/ coming off in chunks thing happen to me before. I only applied it at lunchtime!

snowflakestar · 19/12/2017 19:36

I can't find it on their website. I wonder why.

TheLuminaries · 19/12/2017 19:45

I am another who isn't a fan of the glitter nail polish - though I love the gold one, I think it looks great, unlike most other posters, it seems. Today has been my only dud so far.

wildbuttercup · 19/12/2017 19:53

Put a coat over shiny white polish. I really like it! Hopefully it won't start coming off like others Envy
