There are a few reasonably priced Chanel Boys on fleaBay atm, anyone had a sniff?

JanetStWalker · 18/12/2017 20:39

Ooops, forgot SOTD, it's Ambre Russe.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 18/12/2017 20:43

Yes!
I love it! Went straight onto my FB list when I smelled it at Stansted.

JanetStWalker · 18/12/2017 20:44

Oh shit, my fingers are hovering...

BluebellGal · 18/12/2017 20:48

SOTD was Noix de Tubereuse (Miller Harris). I love it. I caught a whiff on ‘Chamade’ on my coat earlier - I don’t love it!

judy nice hair, a statement lip and gorgeous smell is all you need- I usually only manage 2/3!

Floofy your homemade AC sounds absolutely wonderful (I can only pray my DD turns out to be so thoughtful) and honestly better than my Liberty AC. No perfume yet. I don’t consider myself fussy, but there have been 4 cleansers and quite a few duds (I really don’t believe putting essential oil on your brows will make them grow!). I’m definitely getting a scented AC next year!

MrsPestilence · 18/12/2017 22:13

M&S AC today was Transforming Body Lotion, I gave it to DH [inspired]. He has had his half termly trim shear at the barbers and has shaved his beard off, but same old body Sad.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 18/12/2017 22:51

I like Boy too - very cologne-ish, lavender, quite linear and masculine - I am not much of a Chanel fan (have never tried Coromandel as there was a dearth of samples last summer when I had a Chanel samples phase) but this is nice - spring-like.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 18/12/2017 22:55

SOTD was The Lion Cupboard. I keep trying this but I just don't think I'm that into 4160s' woody scents, they're too harsh, somehow.

I'm considering getting Lutens perfume for Christmas, torn between Fille en Aiguilles, Ambre Sultan or Santal Majascule. What worries me is that another one out there might be better - I wish all perfumeries did 9ml samples so I could be a perfume whore (more)!

JanetStWalker · 18/12/2017 23:04

Fille en Aiguilles is easily the best SL but I only ever wear it at this time of year so it's not exactly versatile.

Puppylucky · 18/12/2017 23:37

SOTD YSL Elle - I was led to this by Fragrantica who cite it as an excellent alternative to Midnight Poison (which seems to have disappeared of E-Bay where I am for good). It's very pretty and has a similar rosey citrus patchouli vibe going on but not as much depth or longevity or depth.

MrsMacNally · 19/12/2017 07:24

Have you sniffed Chergui and Femininite du Bois Mary? Of your three, Ambre Sultan would get my vote!

BluebellGal · 19/12/2017 07:53

Chergui is fabulous- especially for this time of year

MrsMacNally · 19/12/2017 08:26

It's day 19, but unfortunately I opened that by mistake yesterday Blush so here's day 18: OML Sunrise-Yellow-Hope. Lots of different zingy orangey and lemony smells (there's coffee, fennel and cardamom listed too, but I'm still in the bracing citrus opening). It's very nice - have layered with beta to see what it's like length-wise.

explodingkittens · 19/12/2017 10:57

Gotta be Ambre Sultan, surely mary? (Mainly cos I think Fille en Aiguilles is one of the worst smells ever Blush). But Ambre Sultan is amazing.

SOTD is Nuit de Bakelite by Naomi Goodsir. Or what's left of it - found my sample had leaked in the box this morning Sad so I definitely need to reinvest in this one. FBs are insanely expensive though, so it's going to be another sample. This is so odd, and so wonderful. It has so many notes I should hate (tuberose and ylang ylang for a start) but the treatment of those notes is so green and fresh. It also has an amazing plasticky/synthetic note at the top which again sounds weird but is addictive. I cannot stop sniffing this one.

OP posts:
BluebellGal · 19/12/2017 12:38

Nuit de Bakelite sounds very intriguing kittens where did you get the sample? I’ve not heard of Naomi Goodsir

SOTD is Commes de Garçons ‘Floriental’ - that’s the name not the category! It’s wonderful- I reckon a lot of you incense lovers would enjoy this one.

cardoon · 19/12/2017 13:18

Haha, you're really selling the F en A to me kittens Grin, hope the Chanel has arrived.
I'm wearing the Heeley sample of Esprit du Tigre today - Smells like Christmas baking with a cold! Slightly taking my breath away but i like it.
I recently got 3 Perfume Parlour dupes but I don't think I'd wear any of them except maybe the virgin island water, the Karnal Flower was very heavy on the musk and a bit unpleasant.

explodingkittens · 19/12/2017 14:51

@cardoon I'm so, so sorry, meant to say it has arrived and it's lovely. I'm sure you'll love the FeA - my nose just isn't developed well enough to appreciate it Wink Apologies, I have been crap with getting to the post office but will sort it asap!

explodingkittens · 19/12/2017 14:58

Got it from Nose @bluebell. Really good range of niche scents but don't think much of their packaging - dinky little atomisers but they all seem a wee bit leaky actually. Bakelite is the first one that's completely gone, though Sad

I think Naomi Goodsir is Australian. She has a small range of perfumes with some amazing noses behind them and actually they all sound pretty amazing Samples here

Oops. My finger slipped. Ten times.

The first 5 are the Naomi Goodsirs. Then 2 Comme des Garcons, 1 Heeley, 1 DS & Durga (who can resist a perfume named after a Pixies track?!) and one Mark Buxton. What a fab start to the new year Wink

Grin kittens that’s a good haul - hope you like the Floriental!

Liberty GOTD was a shampoo. It doesn’t smell great though - too chemically. Eagerly awaiting some perfumed goods. Only the bumbum cream smells really good so far (pistachio and almond). It’s just a shame I don’t have much need for bum cream Grin Hmm

I feel like a bit of a moaner (first world problems) but I’m annoyed I spent so much on the Liberty calendar and it hasn’t delivered for me. I saved up for a treat but it isn’t really. I prefer the sound of the M&S AC Pest as it has more products I would use. Next year I’m getting the M&S and perhaps 4160 AC!

BluebellGal · 19/12/2017 18:53

^ I’m sure it’s Pest I’ve seen on the M&S thread? Hopefully it is ...otherwise... Blush

The HOF AC is hilarious. Brands might think ACs are a good way to shift some crap, but the HOF AC is a warning about brand damage (Zoella also springs to mind).

I still miss the Boots perfume sets from the 80/90s and want to see them back. These were better than ACs and I want them to have a renaissance! I still remember the mini Deci Della bottle- it was sooo cute! I’m pretty sure this was what started my perfumista journey age 7 ish.

BluebellGal · 19/12/2017 19:00

Kittens I’m also eagerly awaiting your review of concrete! There’s a scent that smells of wet concrete- I think it’s cashmeran, I seem to like it in stuff but can’t really pick it out as I have no idea what wet concrete smells like. So hoping you can enlighten me Grin

I’m sooo ready for the Christmas break. Last day is Friday - I’m already in wind down mode but have lots of work to finish so I need to sort my head out to focus and get it all done!

MrsPestilence · 19/12/2017 19:43

It is me Blue Star dust nail varnish today. BLING, have tried it over the gold from last week, on its own, over dark grey, deep blue and mid-grey. Prefer the mid-grey. Didn't prep my nails first and then did the washing up, so well chipped already.
Overall I am very happy with the M&S calendar. I feel almost guilt at something so self indulgent. Which is strange as I have no such problems with perfume Confused. Worst case scenario I have 25 little pressies / testers for £2.80 each plus two free t-shirts and a complimentary pack of basic knickers. Xmas Grin

SotD is something quite unremarkable out of a tester with a white lid (no glasses in the bathroom)

Pharrell Williams girl has definite hints of wet concrete.

explodingkittens · 19/12/2017 20:08

@bluebell, considering that one of the fragrantica reviews says it smells like 'your breath after an emmenthal sandwich' I think it could be an intriguing one! Got to be tried though, especially for only €3.

SOTD is Chanel 19 for a trip to the dentist. I counted up and this year I have had 27 (!) appointments, not including emergency on the day ones. Possibly more than my entire adult life.
