I'm wearing next cashmere atm!
Lovely scent for bed

Motoko · 26/01/2018 23:13

Well, as the Black Opium has worn off, I might just have a spray before bed!

CountFosco · 27/01/2018 08:52

I'm in SJP Lovely for the second day running. Trying to resist trying --more of The Big Sniff perfumes.

In other news we had a second viewing on Wednesday and got an offer late yesterday. It's a bit cheeky so we'll see if they'll increase but woo hoo!

BluebellGal · 27/01/2018 10:40

Hope you like the Cashmere motoko that might have been me enabling- and Mrs Reynolds enabled me. It’s a decent musk. Sillage is projection so whether sits close to skin or fills the whole room (I’m looking at you Angel!). Longevity is the hours it lasts

Congratulations on the opening offer CountFosco - if they really like it they’ll go up!

Thanks for the tip about Floral Street samples. Will probably buy if I like The Big Sniff Perfume

BluebellGal · 27/01/2018 10:42

Welcome Elise you sound like a full blown perfumista to me!

BluebellGal · 27/01/2018 10:48

Cheap I read iscentyouaday wrote up on the 4160 workshop- sounds wonderful. What a great day. Also ELDO are the worst for their stupid w*y descriptions- utter nonsense but the brand is kooky and they need to get that across somehow. I have more problem with the perfume advertising - but it does work- I read somewhere about the impact Charlize Theron had on sales of J’adore- apparently worth her fat pay check. Influencers don’t really get into perfume do they? It tends to be real perfumistas who lead on blogging like Iscentyouaday

mrsreynolds · 27/01/2018 11:03

Morning

Sotd dior addict as I'm taking ds2 to a b day party 😣

I hope you liked cashmere? 😁

I'm going to try VERY hard not to buy any perfume this month (hollow laughter)

PIAM I have EMS and shazam I can send you if like? I wont wear them...

It's very rainy and grey here today 😔

Motoko · 27/01/2018 11:19

BluebellGal Thanks for explaining what sillage is. I quite liked Caxhmere.

mrsreynolds It was ok, especially for only £4! Husband had a sniff and said "Mm, it's all right, feminine, not offensive, yeah." Haha.

BluebellGal · 27/01/2018 12:47

Hallelujah my sense of smell has returned! I’m getting stuck into the 4160 samples. I am desperate to try dark hart of old Havana but we’re doing the pirate one tomorrow so it sounds quite similar (rum) instead I’ve decided to try Rome 63... so far so good. A woody tabacco, with flowers (not sure which ones) smells very vintage, like old book cases but not in a musty way.

MrsGruber · 27/01/2018 14:26

I am also hitting the 4160s today as I can't decide whether to pounce on one (which one???) of the bargainous discontinued tins. Centrepiece is the leading contender (gorgeous gourmand - musk, frangipani, cedar and green tea), along with The Lion Cupboard (which is a deeply herbal fougere, which I also like very much, but wear a bit less). I've also revisited the Fruits of the Tree of Knowledge, but realise I'm so besotted with their wonderful fruit-floral Babylon Sunset, that I don't really want to wear anything else in this 'category'.

There are a couple others I haven't tried - and I normally avoid blind buying FBs. I do love the name and concept behind Time to Drawer the Raffle Numbers, but I'm not sure this the right entry point with that level of quirk (the idea of a butter note is borderline worrying)? Also haven't tried Sunshine and Pancakes - would anyone recommend?

CountFosco · 27/01/2018 17:33

I like sunshine and pancakes. Initial blast of lemon then it settles into the smell of sunkissed skin. There's a review on fragrantica that says this should be called WIDOMH and I agree. Doesn't have massive sillage but is lovely.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 27/01/2018 17:56

MrsR- that's so kind, but you'd have to send to Italy and it's a total faff Flowers

I took the plunge into the unknown sample box today determined to start trying the multitude of stuff I have in there. AC Incense Jinhae. Incense, lemon and cherry blossom are the notes. I loved the incense bit, and for a brief moment of illusion I thought, oh, here is an AC that's going to sing to me. The lemon kicked in and made the incense bit softer, almost rosey. Then within half an hour (and I was sitting in a coffee shop with a friend) I was in a PINK MINGER. In PUBLIC! Why oh why do perfume houses do this? It was a lovely lovely quirky scent, almost once the lemon had kicked in a bit like London 1969. But oh no, let's turn it into a minger with a huge dollop of something that just smelled PINK!

I'm going to have a bath and put something safe on now. Grin

lasttimeround · 27/01/2018 18:07

I'm in kenzo jungle today. Gift from dh. God I beyond love this

mrsreynolds · 27/01/2018 18:19

piam Oh that's a shame - if I can send it anywhere in the UK do let me know
Pink minger!!?? In public!!?? The horror!! Argh!! 😀
I felt the same in guerlain L'instant. Pleasant to begin with but then....urgh.

lasttimeround · 27/01/2018 18:28

Just laughing at pink minger in public. But I sometimes feel quite distressed at something I can't stand and can't get off. Fracas nearly made me cry once I was so desperate to get it off! The sales staff thought I was such a loon

mrsreynolds · 27/01/2018 18:39

The L'instant debacle was at a funeral! 😣
Awful!

EliseC1965 · 27/01/2018 19:05

SOTD is / or rather was, Annick Goutal tenure de soirée, from the LatestLaunches box. Supposed to be iris top notes and then patchouli. I just got generic flower and then faded into a blehh of nothingness.

I just had a horrible 30 minutes of dental hygienist scraping at my teeth and needed comforting so sprayed liberally with my fave fb of Barista. Soothing coffee, spice and vanilla.

Is a pink minger what I think it is? Like Pink Sugar or one of those sweet cheapies that teenage girls adore?

mrsreynolds · 27/01/2018 19:12

Sexiest scent for bedtime I think!

Just look at any perfume counter atm!...la vie et belle, Mon guerlain, Mon Paris, bluergh....

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 27/01/2018 19:48

Really really trying not to look at the 4160 sale again but super tempted. I was thinking today that I still haven't bought a coffee at work yet this year so assuming one a day at £2 a go (a modest assumption...) I've saved £30. Keeping this up for another 12 weeks (well, a bit longer as there will be days out of the office so they don't really count) I could totally justify a smaller bottle of Coromandel. Logic works fine in my head, provided I don't go blind buying other FBs in the meantime...!

SotD was La Mia Perla from TPS box. Vaguely feminine but too soft to get much of anything. I wonder if my cold is worse than I thought. Hopefully will still be ok for tomorrow - Pirate Perfume can't be subtle can it?!

JanetStWalker · 27/01/2018 19:51

Getting comfortable for the night in Bois des Iles, so calming.

Is Coco Mademoiselle Chanel's version of a PM I wonder?

CountFosco · 27/01/2018 20:35

Just look at any perfume counter atm!...la vie et belle, Mon guerlain, Mon Paris, bluergh....

I got squirted with Mon Guerlain today. I'm not fussed but I wouldn't call it a pink minger. I didn't get the lavender (at least not like I do from the blissful Jicky) but I did get something initially before I got the sandalwood (pleasant) and now LOTS of vanilla(not fussed but DD2 (8) loves vanilla so expect to be told how nice I smell any minute.

mrsreynolds · 27/01/2018 20:47

I dont get vanilla at all
It's just nasty pink floral on me

CountFosco · 27/01/2018 20:57

Got extra in my pay this month (worked shifts for a week in Dec) so thinking of spending it on perfume. I need to buy an AC before my Discovery Voucher expires and I think I'm going to get Mistral Patchouli. But also fancy the Coffret Fragrance Wardrobe sets that have 3x 7.5ml so thinking Vetiver Fatal, Polemo Paradis, and possibly Ambre Nue. Except I can't get Vettiver Fatal in that set. How annoying.

CountFosco · 27/01/2018 21:00

MrsR isn't it amazing how different perfume is on different people? I get no floral at all except in the top note.

mrsreynolds · 27/01/2018 21:28

It is!
Chanel smells like cat pee on me
