Oh plus Babylon Sunset as Floofy has sold it to me.

MrsMacNally · 14/01/2018 20:21

Floof's right about Babylon Sunset and Calm's right about Rome 1963 Grin. Really we need Green, Pest and MrsS to reveal their all time favourites too...

MrsPestilence · 14/01/2018 22:01

Umm, the only gourmand I ever really wear is Tea for Two, so wrong house.
4160s I go for are: the Firesides, Who Knew, Up the Apples and Pears, Ealing Green and Shazam!
I am wearing The Sexiest Scent, after reading this and have just asked DS what on earth he is cooking????? "Just making tea" Blush I still have the lurgy Sad

BluebellGal · 14/01/2018 22:12

Just put in my 4160 order Grin

I may have just blind bought Tokyo Speing Blossom too.

1 Captured by candlelight
2 Silk lace chocolate
3 Tarts knicker drawer
4 Rome 1963
5 Centrepiece
6 The sexiest scent
7 Babylon Sunset
....Plus the Great Randello as the extra

I am NOT buying anymore perfume til at least May (summer scents). The reason I am craving gourmands right now might have something to do with the fact I’m on a diet Blush

BluebellGal · 14/01/2018 22:13

Sorry just realised I’d pretty much posted that list earlier. Sorry
I’ll bore off now....Blush

princessbear80 · 14/01/2018 22:22

Dropping in for a quick update. I asked for recommendations last week to replace my Narciso Rodriguez Essence, and you were all kind enough to suggest a few. However, good news, I found a bottle in a local independent chemist, hurrah! Smile
Have saved the recommendations for next time!

JanetStWalker · 15/01/2018 02:31

Floofy, the PP Gloria dupe is fab, probably the best I've tried from them.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 15/01/2018 08:59

Sotd PP Karma. It is a bit one-dimensional. The real Karma develops more, but this stays as a light joss sticky incense based perfume. Think it will probably layer well with Tauers etc.

BluebellGal · 15/01/2018 09:00

SOTD is Tom Ford Santal Blush PP dupe. It’s a floral musk, very nice. Interested to see what the longevity is like as the TF is very poor (especially given the price).

GlovesAndHatsAndFloofyCats · 15/01/2018 10:11

Looking forward to your reviews bluebell! I must confess some of the 4160s I have tried have taken a while to love, but the ones that I love I really love!

PIAM welcome back and sorry for your loss, and your poor SIL. Pre and post funeral family rows are just the worst Thanks

Princess hurrah for independent chemists! Does anyone remember soaps shaped as lemons wrapped in waxed paper? I used to love them.

Right thanks for the PP Gloria feedback guys, the reviews online are also good so it's A Go (as soon as my stuff starts shifting again on eBay post January skintness Angry) Shall report back...Now if only PP did a dupe of Lily Spice

Has anyone tried the PP TF Velvet Orchid dupe (while I'm there Grin) Agree the longevity of TF is shocking for the price. In fact I can't see how the prices are justified at all, we are just paying for the name and the mental image of men in sexy suits aren't we...

SOTD Heeley Cardinal in an effort to clear my chest. Not working but I smell lush

mrsreynolds · 15/01/2018 10:40

Morning
It's officially blue Monday apparently (most depressing day of the year) 🤔
Sotd as SSOTPEI
Still loving it but silage not great....do any of the 4610s have good silage??
Hope everyone has a fragrant and non depressing day

OCSockOrphanage · 15/01/2018 10:47

Flowers PIAM. Very sad news, made worse by family rows. It sounds like a horrid week all round. Welcome home.

Did anyone else read the Fragrantica news about the St Giles range launch? I thought a couple sounded good, so e-mailed to ask if they are planning a sample set. Will share any news here.

SoTD is Lumiére Dorée (MH) from the TPS set. Inoffensive is the word that spring to mind after 10 minutes.

BluebellGal · 15/01/2018 14:14

Response from Mumsnet about the Big Sniff

Thanks for your patience. We've discussed this with our affiliates team and you're more than welcome to do the synchronised sniff with the discount(s) for all and so please do go ahead, and enjoy! We're really sorry though, we won't be able to pin the thread. It's not something we can commit to any longer but we do appreciate why you'd want this and apologise for not being more help.

MrsMacNally · 15/01/2018 18:59

MrsR I am the only person I know in RL who wears 4160s so I honestly don't know about sillage Grin. Guessing it will vary depending on the ingredients in each perfume?

Lumiere Doree is fabulous in hot weather OC - my holiday perfume last year.

Think you are all being a bit hard on Rosa Ribes - it's lovely....and I hated Dewberry Smile.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 15/01/2018 19:39

Flowers PIAM. I hate cancer. Sorry to say something so obvious but I really do. It's so indiscriminate and I can't wait for the researchers to knock it out.

How was the school night?

Bluebell that's kind - will PM.

SotD was Mitsouko. A classic reliable start to the week!

What shall we do for the Big Sniff then? We could do it as part of this thread, or have a separate one? A new one each week (e.g. TBS part one, TBS part two etc) could be good for getting a bit more exposure and perhaps a few more joining us along the way? So the first post each time might say "welcome to the Big Sniff - this week we're trying XXX on Yday. To join in get your box here with code mumsnet" sort of thing?

MrsMacNally · 15/01/2018 19:47

Sounds good Cheap.

Seem to have reached for the orange blossom today given it's Blue Monday AND our neighbours once again have two drills of some sort running continually against the party wall to our living roo, (all weekend til 10pm each evening and again tonight).

SotD was Seville a L'Aube for it's mood boosting properties, and tonight I'm sampling Patou's Sublime. Floral chypre on an amber base. Wasn't so keen on the sharp lily of the valley in the opening but it's warming up nicely now.

mrsreynolds · 15/01/2018 19:52

I'm feeling low today
Hand very sore 😔
And It's STILL January
I have no money ignores perfume purchases (cough cough)
I've sent dh to the shop for cake 😁

CountFosco · 15/01/2018 20:19

I think a separate thread is a good idea. There are nine perfumes in the box so if we do it once a week it will last two months unlike the chocolate which will last two minutes. How long do the boxes tend to take to arrive from TPS? We'll need to get it up soonish so people have time to prepare. Also, how long will the code last BluebellGal?

mrsreynolds · 15/01/2018 20:26

Hope you all enjoy the synchronised sniff!! 😁

I shall some shazam for bed I think

mrsreynolds · 15/01/2018 20:28

Nope
Went for PP cinnabar instead
So warm and comforting but a definate soapy note too sadly

Judydreamsofhorses · 15/01/2018 20:43

cheap I am twinning with you in Mitsouko.

mrsR it is “blue Monday” today - I know it’s a PR team’s construct, but it does feel crap, doesn’t it? Shall we hang on until payday to start the Big Sniff so you can join in?

Calmwhoknows · 15/01/2018 20:49

SOTD was Covet (Sarah Jessica Parker). I love this stuff and it’s so cheap, you can spray with abandon. Lemony lavender green opening drying down to a chocolate woody musk. There is a floral sweetness, too, with an unusual note that I don’t recognise, underlying everything. It’s a bit iris-like, although that’s not listed in the notes. It lasted most of the day.

This evening I finished off the dregs of a By Kilian sample, Beyond Love. This is a full-on tuberose, rich and buttery, and a bit too much for me, although I can appreciate the perfumer’s skill. I prefer Madonna’s Truth or Dare, for about a tenth of the price. 😀

Cheap a separate Big Sniff thread sounds good!

BluebellGal · 15/01/2018 21:02

Good ideas on the Big Sniff ladies.

A separate thread with an opening post explaining the Big Sniff to drum up interest, the code and link & scoring schema should do the trick. Perhaps a score out of 10 for (1) the opening (2) the dry down.

Perhaps someone funnier and more engaging than I am could set it up once we decide how we’re doing it. Then people can virtually sign up by posting in the thread and post pics of the contents.

I think we should try and keep it very simple so we don’t confuse.

Not sure how long the discount code will last - but will ask.

mrsreynolds · 15/01/2018 21:31

Oh that's a kind thought judy but I think a floral tester box would be wasted on me!! 😁
How are your dental woes now? Better I Hope?

Judydreamsofhorses · 15/01/2018 22:36

mrsR a floral box is possibly not my thing either, but, hey ho.

Teeth are, touch wood, okay, I go back next Wednesday for RCT 1, part two. Last Tuesday was a massive TWO HOURS in the chair. I am hoping to get the first bit of the re-treatment scheduled in for the following week, so by the end of February it’s all over bar the crowns. I was pretty sore on Wednesday and Thursday last week, but now I am just a bit uncomfortable where the gazillion injections were done. The temperature sensitivity is definitely gone which is a good sign, and god knows, I am paying so much I definitely deserve an end point!
