SOTD is JHAG Mad Madame for lunch out. My bloody tooth is killing again and my friend insisted I ring the on-call dentist. If no better i’m to go and see her (stranger danger) tomorrow and she will do the first bit of RCT on it. Woe. And my period just started. Woe again.

count hope you’re feeling a bit more human now? Hair of the dog later, maybe?

CountFosco · 23/12/2017 19:17

A sleep in the afternon plus paracetamol and a nice glass of sherry and I'm feeling a lot more human. Phew.

MrsMacNally · 23/12/2017 19:57

It's day 23...and another OML. Blue Screen/Blue Horizon - Perspective. This is by far the most substantial and enduring, and it's crammed with gorgeous aromatic things: bergamot, frankincense, lavender, vetivert and patchouli. Seems a shame to mix it with anything, so can't report on how it settles down with alpha or beta for company. It is grounding, in a good way. Serious and beautiful, but not at all hard work. Out of all of them, this is the contender for next year's Xmas list, with Harvest in second place.

MrsMacNally · 23/12/2017 20:02

Oh Judy - am surprised you've not asked her to pull it out and be done with it, it's given you so much bother. Hope your Christmas Eve still manages to be lovely.

I'd kill for a nap and some sherry Count but have a houseful of teens who have already eaten all my reserves of homemade sausage rolls and have made a serious dent in my fizz stash, so I daren't turn my back on them...

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 23/12/2017 20:10

SotD was ACAC Vetiver Fatal. Despite some reviews on Fragrantica noting plummy jam on me it's a wonderful subtle clean citrus (almost powdery rather than zingy). I suspect this'll be the last new one - the size of tomorrow's window suggests something that's already appeared but in a different format - so really pleased to end the new scents on this one.

Anyone else get an e-mail from Notino for 10% off e gift cards. Tempted to buy a few - that's basically just 10% off money isn't it?!

Judydreamsofhorses · 23/12/2017 20:37

mrsMac it’s the opposing tooth to the lower one I had root canal on about six weeks ago (which is still grumbling away on and off) so I am really, really reluctant to lose it. Plus, I am absolutely terrified of extractions. It was fine on Wednesday after the filling was replaced on Tuesday, started to hurt a bit again on Thursday and last night I was in tears with the pain. I just didn’t want to bother a dentist at the weekend, however my friend insisted it was a “business transaction” and they were being heavily compensated for being bothered and made me ring this afternoon.

explodingkittens · 23/12/2017 22:35

Oh @judy, sounds awful, you poor thing. Your friend is right though.

Also (this may or may not be helpful so feel free to ignore) I was utterly terrified of extractions (very close to phobic about dentists) and then needed 3 done in quick succession - and became oddly addicted to the process Confused. Genuinely, I almost quite enjoyed the final one. It was very weird. Sorry, that's probably completely unhelpful Blush. Hope it all goes ok and 2018 is a whole new start, toothwise!

SOTD has been Another Kiss...cos it's the only thing I remembered to bring with me. Haven't plucked up the Coromandel-courage yet.

Stil in my PJs after accidentally consuming a whole bottle of wine at a Christmas Soirée last night - bit hungover today and have lots to do Blush No SOTD yet.

SOTD Yesterday was Le Labo Noir 29 which I got a bottle of in my Liberty AC. Was so excited to try this house, but it’s a bit meh tbh. Can’t smell the black tea and the sillage is very soft, it just doesn’t smell of much and is like a woody cologne. Any one else tried any Le Labos?

Sorry to hear about the teeth Judy I’m praying mine hold out over Christmas with all the prosecco and chocolate to enjoy Wink

BluebellGal · 24/12/2017 11:57

Haha Grin MrsMac trying to keep teenagers from eating you out of house and home! I’ve currently got a very active toddler to entertain with a terrible hangover which is a true test of parenting. It’s the first Christmas she has engaged in and she’s super excited about Santa coming, it’s very sweet Smile

MrsPestilence · 24/12/2017 12:14

SotD is Theo Fennell Scent. Getting ready to go to the allotment and slay some sprouts.

Basking in the joys of no toddlers and youngest DC is nineteen and a half. We are in danger of becoming quite civillised here.

BluebellGal · 24/12/2017 13:02

Grin Pest Good choice for Christmas eve and fresh sprouts? How wonderful!

SOTD is Le Labo Noir 29. I’m giving it another whirl. DH said it’s very subtle but quite nice. I’m just getting roses and light woodiness. I’m not getting any black tea or tabaccco. Roses are not listed in the notes. It reminds me of JHAG. It’s ok I suppose but I can’t get excited about it.

I’ve popped some Commes de Garçon Floriental (incense and plum) in my bag for Christingle at the church later. Can’t wait Grin

CountFosco · 24/12/2017 15:46

ACD SotD Philtre Ceylon. Black tea, bergamot and spearmint. Interesting opening wirh a blast of mint then a short period of cumin (not like BO on me thankfully) then the fragrant tea comes to the fore. Nice but I think I preferred the Oolang Infini but will need to compare side by side. Think generally I like the AC orientals but I've still got 10 to go before I start repeat spraying. Tomorrow I'm having a day off AC, think I'm getting Dryad from Papillon from DH so will wear that tomorrow.

Hope you all get the scents you want for Christmas!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 24/12/2017 18:19

Popping in from my MIL's (sigh) to wish you all a fragrant Christmas.

I am in Opium, and there is perfume under the tree, it is either Shalimar, 24RF, LHB Prada Iris, Allure or n5.

I have a feeling it will be n5 because that's the one the shop will have told dp to buy.

Judydreamsofhorses · 24/12/2017 18:39

SOTD is Clinique Wrappings. I didn’t ring the emergency dental hotline and hope I don’t live to regret it...!

Have lovely days tomorrow!

BluebellGal · 24/12/2017 19:54

Piam is be very happy with any of those on your list. Looks like I’m getting something from Lush- my DH has left the box lying around all week Hmm

Judy fingers crossed your tooth holds out

The Le Labo has been pretty pathetic today- I over sprayed and couldn’t smell it. Had to sniff very deeply and it’s boring. Will be getting the M&S calendar next year - they got a lovely sounding Shay & Blue!

SOTE CdG Floriental for church, we enjoyed a lovely Christingle- my DD first. She loved it although I was Shock when she insisted holding the orange candle and almost singed her dad’s face. Tried to get it off her but gave up as it was more dangerous than letting her hold it. We all survived but heart was in my mouth. Then there was the cocktail sticks with sweets on ! Health and safety nightmare Confused

BluebellGal · 24/12/2017 19:58

Oh and almost forgot... Happy Christmas to all fellow Perfumistas. May your Christmas be joyous and smelly (in a good way) and may Santa bring you FBs of some of the samples which made the cut through 2017 Xmas Grin

Here’s to a beautifully fragranced 2018

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 24/12/2017 20:22

SotD was ACAC Orange Sanguine, in a 7.5ml travel spray (hurray!! An atomiser!!!) Happy with that since OS was one of my favourite dabbers... Will definitely miss the fun of the ACs. Very tempted to splurge on some samples in the new year, pop them in the look Fantastic boxes and then enjoy a Summer calendar when I've forgotten what I've got!!

Pretty sure there won't be any FBs for me - sure DH thinks I've got enough (and I probably didn't go on quite enough about the Vol Dr Nuit...!)

Today was fun but knackering. Love the magic of Christmas but little people really do get excited don't they?!

Have a lovely day tomorrow all - may the FBs be delightful, the wine free flowing and the teeth quiet and well behaved Xmas Smile

Motoko · 24/12/2017 21:53

Wishing you all a very fragrant Christmas!

MrsMacNally · 24/12/2017 22:46

Happy Christmas everyone - wishing you all a peaceful and fun-filled day tomorrow. Can't wait to hear what's in everyone's stocking...

Day 24 and it's the lovely Another Kiss - smells like lavender, birch, rose and vetiver to me. Great choice for today - just right.

MrsPestilence · 24/12/2017 22:52

Merry Christmas, may your red cabbage be fragrant.

explodingkittens · 25/12/2017 08:19

My Nose samples were waiting for me when I got back yesterday evening. Had a quick squirt of a couple - the Mark Buxton is interesting and Concrete isn't all what I was expecting. Will have to spend some proper time with them later. I think Floriental might get the Christmas Day wearing, though.

Merry Christmas, all - thanks for being such lovely, funny, clever fellow-travellers on my newbie Perfumista journey. Hope your Christmases are deliciously fragrant! Don't forget to report back on scented gifts!

Happy Christmas Xmas Smile.

Day 25 - Captured by Candlelight. Will be layering with The Enchanted Forest for extra base.

By red cabbage is hopefully fragrant...lots of allspice.

MrsMacNally · 25/12/2017 11:28

*bass. (was wrapping'til quite late). < festive yawn>

explodingkittens · 25/12/2017 11:32

Hmm, Floriental has too much vetiver for me, disappointingly Sad

Might give it a churchy, candle-y boost with good ol' Avignon.

The turkey is in, the potatoes are par boiled, and the carrots are smothered in cumin and honey. There is also a Notino box in the recycling. Hopefully that means dp took my terribly unsubtle hints about L'air de rien being 50% off a few weeks ago!

No such thing as too much vetiver Grin

SotD Dryad. Also got L'Atelier des Bois de Grasse Fleur d'Oranger bais rose from the ILs (plus a sparkly toilet seat from the kids!). We don't have our big meal until the evening but drinking fizz and eating smoked salmon and fancy cheese like it's going out of fashion. Yum hic.
