Very happy, need a new mascara and was hoping the advent calendar would come up trumps. Grin

Jaimx86 · 24/12/2017 07:44

Today's product will be added to my favourites out of the calendar. This is the type of product I was hoping to get, as there are so many on the market I'm unlike to spend such a large amount of money on a product I haven't sampled.

snowflakestar · 24/12/2017 08:30

Very pleased with today's - I like a good facial oil, especially at this time of year.

problembottom · 24/12/2017 10:00

SO happy with today’s. I use facial oil religiously and this one smells lovely. Will keep it for when my current Origins one runs out.

I’ve really enjoyed this calendar, my dressing table is filled with fabulous products which should last ages.

Can’t wait to find out what’s in tomorrow’s huge box been eyeing it up since day one. Grin

BringMeTea · 24/12/2017 12:27

Yep today’s is a goody.

snowflakestar · 25/12/2017 12:22

Really pleased with today's! A lovely set!

loveka · 25/12/2017 12:33

I wonder if it will be OK on a 50 year old? All very sparkly?

I have really loved the calendar?

Paperdove87 · 25/12/2017 13:42

You're never too old for a bit of sparkle!
I really like today's-nice set. Unexpected as well. Was expecting a palette but I have a few of those so I'm really pleased.

RJnomore1 · 25/12/2017 13:49

I kinda fell off the thread, but I've been really happy with the calendar. Delighted with today's as well.

Well worth the money, hardly any fillers and the few things I wouldn't use went in a dds stocking so they were happy too.

Only non hit was the scalp scrub - not for the thick of hair.

Annabelle4 · 25/12/2017 14:51

Will you all purchase again next year? I might splash out on the Liberty one.

Happy Christmas all Flowers

snowflakestar · 25/12/2017 15:29

Agree re the scalp exfoliator - that brings back memories!

I really enjoyed this calendar and would buy it again, however I did check the contents of all the calendars before buying (and promptly forgot them as I bought so far in advance) and I would do so again to make sure it had enough products that were right for me to make it worthwhile.

I did check the contents of the Liberty one before buying but there weren't enough products in there that appealed to me this year, it depends what you like though (plus I already have the full size NARS blusher, and candle that was on offer etc).

snowflakestar · 25/12/2017 15:30

Oh and thank you, Annabelle - happy Christmas to you and everyone else :)

problembottom · 25/12/2017 18:48

Merry Christmas! Xmas Smile

I like today’s set, think it will work best in Summer when I’m tanned and going natural with my make-up. This has been my first beauty advent and it has surpassed my expectations, I’ve bloody loved it. I didn’t check the contents beforehand as the surprise element is what it’s about for me. I’d definitely get it again next year if it’s not too samey - has anyone bought it in more than one year?

missfliss · 26/12/2017 14:15

OP here. I loved this calendar, only a couple of duds! Happy 2018 everyone xxx

snowplop · 27/12/2017 21:21

Happy 2018 to you too missfliss Thanks for starting the thread. I really enjoyed the calendar but I'm not sure whether I'd buy it again. Major highlights for me were the lipstick on day 1, the Korres cream, the elemis cream, the Moroccan oil, the mask, the contour brush, micellar water and Caudalie sorbet. Didn't like the scalp stuff, sponge, eyeliner or brow pencil (far too pale). I'd have liked a fragrance or two and perhaps a nice eye shadow crayon or eyeliner in an interesting colour.

I really miss opening something every morning now!

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 27/12/2017 21:22

I mentioned swaps a few posts back as I'm also on the M&S thread where everything is flying to and fro! Snowplop, very happy to swap micellar water for the brow pencil?

Jaimx86 · 28/12/2017 07:49

Snowplop, I came on here as I'm missing something to open to Sad DH is out tonight, so I'm having an evening of sorting through all of my advent products, and things I've had from Birchbox over the year. Really looking forward to sorting it all out and looking at all of the products properly.
Does anyone else save products for 'best'? I did that with my Selfridges advent calendar last year and now have almost 100 unopened products 😱

snowflakestar · 28/12/2017 08:30

I normally do, Jaimx, and that's why I made myself open and use everything straight away. Other than the things that I know won't work for me. I've really enjoyed doing it this way. My list of highlights and disappointments is very similar to yours, snowplop.

InfiniteSheldon · 28/12/2017 08:53

I am on my second year will definitely be getting it next year. I'm saving the last set for summer. The only did firms me was the brow pencil it's far too light. My skin is looking amazing. Last year was heavy on hair products a couple of which I still have unopened this year's was a better range I think.

userofthiswebsite · 30/12/2017 00:40

Ok so a few Qs...

  1. Am I the only person who did not realise there is a mirror in the calendar? Giving myself a major d'oh right now.
  1. What are you all doing with yours? I almost just threw it out with the rest of the rubbish but couldn't quite do it... Have you kept yours and if so what are you putting/keeping in it if not the bits and bobs of skincare and make up?
  1. Would you buy in 2018?
I am not quite decided but may well. I bought it bundled with the Black Friday box for £100 in total (that box was quite impressive actually) and I'd likely do the same next year if I was going to get the AC again.
BringMeTea · 30/12/2017 09:55

Happy New Year people! I thought this was a very solid effort. Had Liberty and MnS last year and like this much better. Most surprising hit was the banana powder; something I would never have bought in a million years.

I did notice the mirror on about day 4. Smile

fishchipspeasandgravy · 30/12/2017 10:31

2 yo DD has claimed my empty calendar, she loves the drawers and mirror.

woofmiaowwoof · 30/12/2017 10:51

Ha I didn’t notice the mirror - I’ve been wondering what to do with it. Make quite a nice jewellery chest without the boxes perhaps for one of the dc

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 30/12/2017 12:26

Mirror?

userofthiswebsite · 30/12/2017 12:44

Yep, under the lid of the calendar, which I just thought was the top of the calendar...
I didn't realise it lifted up...
Sigh
