Hello everyone!

I thought I'd start a new thread since we bought so much stuff we filled up the old one! Who's coming with me?

Miffy How did you find the Helen Jumper faired when you wore and washed it? There are terrible reviews and I had one delivered unsure whether to keep as I read back and noticed you ordered one a while back?

ilovecherries · 23/01/2018 18:31

I'm wearing a small, miffy and I'm a proper 14 on top with very large (34K) boobs.

miffy2 · 23/01/2018 21:31

Excellent, thanks, I will keep my eye out for a Small as I love the colour.

never, I will be honest, I have not washed my Helen jumper yet. I am not a grubby pest, just I have only worn it a couple of times layered over a T, for a few hours at a time and it hasn't needed washing yet. Since my previous Hush woollens (essential jumper??) went really bobbly, shapeless and stretchy after a (careful) wash I am reluctant to wash it until needed. As mentioned above it has gone a bit bobbly under the arms but so have my Felix tunics and many other sweaters so I take it as par for the course. I have a cashmere comb so I use that as needed.

It is also very much on the large side. I have a medium and could have got away with a small (12/14 here).

neveradullmoment99 · 23/01/2018 22:08

Thanks for that. Just really wondered if it was that awful. I am the same with knitwear. I usually wear something under it. I try and wash knitwear as little as possible and cashmere esp only the once before I put away for the summer. Sounds gross but they are never that dirty. The helen jumper is big but then I am looking for an oversized comfy jumper. Managed to get it in the pink. Does the size put you off? I am a 12 and have the medium but I kind of like it sloppy!!!!

neveradullmoment99 · 23/01/2018 22:10

I agree that the bobbling sounds normal and in places where I would expect some. Going to try it on again tomorrow and make a decision. THanks :)

ilovecherries · 23/01/2018 22:12

I commented on the wash-ability of the Helen on the previous/next page, depending on how you read the thread :)

neveradullmoment99 · 23/01/2018 22:15

Oh I have the essentials jumper in a lovely beige colour. Loved it when I bought it but did wear it to death as the neutral colour really suited me. It is awful now. That coupled by the fact I shoved it into the machine on a 40 wash and has shrunk slightly in the body. I still wear it but its now not the same. Also had the adele jumper similar to the Paloma. Had it in burgundy and everytime I put it in for a wool wash it shrunk badly. I was gutted and ended up having to throw it away :( I have never had any issue with knitwear on a wool cycle so was dismayed. It matted then shrunk despite it being a a v low temp.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/01/2018 22:16

Thanks cherries. I missed it. Will read back :)

neveradullmoment99 · 23/01/2018 22:19

Ah, so it grows. Sadly the medium was all I could get and have it just now. Thanks for that. Will probably return it. It was luck getting it in that size. By both your comments it is interesting to read that so many reviews say about the bobbling but it sounds normal. Some people can get really fussy about bobbling!!! I'm not really one of them and expect it to happen with most woollen jumpers.

ilovecherries · 24/01/2018 08:35

I know! When I see he has stevia around bobbling, I wonder if people are using it to describe something different from how I use it. Back in the day I had a knitting machine and made all my own knitwear and it still bobbled with weat over friction areas. The problem I have with the essential jumper isn't so much bobbling but shedding. I have it in grey and it's leaves fibres everywhere. Haven't washed it yet as I'm part of the Dirty Minger Society when it comes to knitwear. I'm a great believer in a good airing Smile

ilovecherries · 24/01/2018 08:36

He has stevia = hysteria.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/01/2018 12:15

Well tried it on again and although I love the colour, the colour does not love me. Too sallow and the pink is too cool for my skin tone so despite loving the jumper, it is going to be returned. Its quite big anway as it is a medium and would really need the small.

ilovecherries · 24/01/2018 16:06

I'm currently having the same colour dilemma with the yellow Vickie (very similar to the Helen). I ordered it months ago but it came with a massive oily stain so it went back and I didn't reorder. Picked up a sale one at the weekend. It's such a cheerful and optimistic colour (and it's a small so fits well), but I think it may be too warm for my colouring.

Stylinson · 24/01/2018 16:35

The Hush sample sale today was carnage!!!!!

Laska5772 · 24/01/2018 16:42

Oh cherries can i ask a big favour? If you decide not to keep it please will you sell it to me? Ill pay postage as well. I wanted a vickie but when it came i ended up sending it back (due to spending guilt ) ive regretted ot since and now cant find a small. If you do please pm me .i can pay paypal or cheque which you can cash first .. Thanks !!

Laska5772 · 24/01/2018 16:44

stylinson so go on.. did you get anything? ..

miffy2 · 24/01/2018 17:48

Eek, I may have to wash my Helen jumper on a hot wash to keep it the same size LOL. I like it baggy and wear it over skinnies etc, but would prefer for it not to grow so much that it becomes loungewear :)

I loved the Vickie in yellow but it made me look huge. Shoulder seams that are halfway down the arms do nothing for me, only exaggerate the norks.

Stylinson · 24/01/2018 17:48

Laska - Loads!!! Too much. Sweatshirts x3,, reversible star jumper, harems, denim skirt, two really nice scarfs, a sparkly star jumper, a few tshirts, cashmere socks, camo joggers, a black jumper with sparkly cuffs and neck, a beach bag.....
Was absolute mayhem though. I was sweaty and stressed by the end

neveradullmoment99 · 24/01/2018 17:56

Sounds amazing stylinson. Wish I lived near. They are always London based.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/01/2018 17:57

Wish they would spread their sample sales around. Might of been in with a chance if they were held in Edinburgh.

Talisin · 24/01/2018 18:12

What time did you go, Stylinson? I’m going to try and go tomorrow and trying to work out the best time to hit.

pixelchick10 · 24/01/2018 18:25

Yes I would have gone if it wasn’t raining so hard might pop in after work tomorrow if it was worth it?

Stylinson · 24/01/2018 18:51

Went at midday. Queue to pay was horrendous.
Scarves, joggers and T-shirt’s are £5
Sweatshirts and skirts £10
Jumpers and dresses £15
Cashmere is £40

intelligentPutty · 24/01/2018 18:52

Amazing prices. It's worth getting the train to London at those prices!!

Talisin · 24/01/2018 19:38

Right. Will go early (assuming the wracking cough hasn’t killed me off overnight). Luckily I’m on a direct line to Clapham Junction and go through there every working day anyway.
