Isn't she just fabulously stylish and cool for a 64 year old.

As a 50 year old, what can I do to try to emulate her ?

OP posts:

Deborra Lee Furness is often accused of being Hugh Jackman's beard, despite being married to him for 20 years and them having two children.

Because a handsome man couldn't possibly be attracted to an older woman, could he?

Has Catherine Zeta Jones ever been described as Michael Douglas's beard?

laGrosellaEspinosa · 16/07/2017 18:57

His beard?! oh come on. They were on again off again since he was eighteen . Even IF he were bi, did he know at 18 that he'd need a beard? and if he thought his sexuality might hinder his political career would he make a choice of wife-beard that would attract extra scrutiny?

sodablackcurrant · 16/07/2017 19:48

Fifteen I think he was. But they all do cinq a sept now anyway according to reports. Everyone's happy.

Look that up too.

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/07/2017 19:49

She looks like someone's Nan from TOWIE at the moment. Too orange, much too thin and too much too blonde hair. If she ditched the fake tan, toned down the hair (she looks much better with her hair up) and put on 5 kilos or so, she would look fine.

Emmanuel looks very boring, like any French fonctionnaire who has gone through ENA.

Donald Trump - orange and mad hair. Well just mad really.

Melania looked fine - conservative, but looked good. I liked the navy and white dress with the red belt.

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/07/2017 19:53

I don't think she is his beard at all! It's unconventional to have the woman much older, but if it works for them, it works for them.

And yes, le cinq a sept definitely still goes on!

laGrosellaEspinosa · 16/07/2017 20:06

Soda, why do you advise us to ''look things up'' like you alone are in the know?!

sodablackcurrant · 16/07/2017 20:08

laGrosellaEspinosa.

Just having a laugh on a Sunday evening. Is that OK with you?

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/07/2017 20:11

Why is it funny? I would think pretty much everyone knows what a "beard" is. And if they don't, then they can look it up quietly on their own, without you telling them. Cinq a sept, maybe not so much (and it means something completely different in Francophone Canada).

laGrosellaEspinosa · 16/07/2017 20:11

I'm ok, You carry on! Advise us as you see fit Soda!

sodablackcurrant · 16/07/2017 20:13

Oh dear, we now have the Head Girls swooping in.

It is an open forum. Who gives a fig.

Tomorrow it will be "should I wear navy with black" and so on.

At least we are discussing something interesting.

sodablackcurrant · 16/07/2017 20:16

And BTW I am enjoying the banter. Should be lighthearted.

But doesn't often end that way does it. But I'm watching you all for transgressions!

Just joking. But off you go and have a go. I am really chilled and accept that.

laGrosellaEspinosa · 16/07/2017 20:17

No worries, I don't like to derail a lighthearted conversation either. I'm chilled. Wine

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/07/2017 20:18

Well you do come across as a bit of a know-it-all patronising arse, Soda!

But agree that we are discussing something interesting!

I used to live in Paris and the 16th arrondissement in particular is full of Brigitte Macron look alikes - too bronzed, too blonde, too thin and too much plastic surgery, who live on a diet of black coffee and fags.

sodablackcurrant · 16/07/2017 20:23

MrsSchadenfreude.

Will all be forgotten in a day or two.

Yes to the coffee and fags for the thinnies. But there was always something else aswell.... to keep them going. Will not say for fear of being told off as a know all. But trust me.

JessiCake · 16/07/2017 20:24

Through very very very gritted teeth indeed (because I loathe all that her husband stands for and haven't formed a terribly good impression of her either from what I've seen) I have to admit that Melania does have absolutely fabulous style most of the time.

I thought her outfits in Paris were knock-outs, and it really does kill me to say anything positive about anyone with the surname Trump.

Brigitte on the other hand, nothing to do with her being older, I just don't think she looks anything like as stylish as MT. She has fabulous legs and a good figure for any age tbh but I don't think the white nurses-type dress did much for her and it looked a bit like a costume.

Also I'm not a fan of the artfully-mussed bob, it's too pouffy and too bed-head, maybe it looks good in real life or on a woman who isn't supposed to be incredibly dignified but in pics it looks a bit, sorry to say it, silly and try-hard.

She obviously does look incredible - slim, toned, pretty - even for a woman of mid-forties let alone 60s, but I think she'd be better off aiming to look only 10 years younger than she really is (which I have no doubt she could pull off brilliantly, she certainly doesn't look anything like her age) rather than as far as I can tell trying to look like a woman in her late 20s.

Not that she cares two hoots about what I think, obviously, and her confidence is marvellous to behold, part of me likes that about her look even if I think it doesn't make her look as stylish as I think she could be.

MT on the other hand, annoyingly, really does get it right. Angry

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 16/07/2017 20:31

Imo you cannot beat Michelle for class and elegance.

whiskersonkittens80 · 16/07/2017 20:34

mutton dressed as lamb springs to mind.

Yes she's very obviously had work done. She's too thin and she dresses like someone in her 20s. She looks ridiculous.

As does Donald Trump though.

JessiCake · 16/07/2017 20:34

Ah, now you're right there IfYouGoDown... adore Michelle AND her style, which I always felt was impeccable, a bit funky, very strong and very personal to her. Yes, in comparison Melania is a bit of a clothes-horse and too stiff.
Gone misty-eyed with yearning for Michelle to be back in the White House now... love her. Gorgeous woman.

sodablackcurrant · 16/07/2017 21:19

I think Emanuel Macron is delightful.

He just has to wear a suit and tie and have good haircut. And maybe say something that the proletariat will listen to. But he is the new Sun King. Didn't you know? Versailles is where he wants to live....

FKN double standards.

Go Brigitte! And ground him.

HarryHarlow · 16/07/2017 21:27

She has the longest legs! She shows them off too, there are pictures of her in very short skirts

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 16/07/2017 21:54

Jessi yes me too. What a difference from the idiot who is in there now - Donald not Melania.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/07/2017 09:35

Ah yes, Soda, the added extra...!

ppeatfruit · 17/07/2017 09:46

Soda we had a place in Cannes. Agree about the people watching ! It was the MAMIL and Harleys that got me and the very old ladies dripping in gold with toy dogs under their arms, who also wore gold !

We had to sell though Sad it was unbearably hot in the summer.

nina2b · 17/07/2017 12:11

Macron is gorgeous - him, obv...

ppeatfruit · 17/07/2017 12:46

Yes nina he is very fanciable, lucky Bridget Grin she's only 2 years younger than me Grin
