Welcome Bluebell - one of my daughter's best friends is called Bluebell and she is LOVELY.

But...FDT! Scrubber? I really like that although I preferred the Fumee that it came with (also came with Fleurs de sel but I never really warmed to that at all) If you layer it with fumee it is gorgeous.

SOTD - Calvin Klein Reveal. Longevity isn't its strong point though.

Which PP scents do y'll love? Am about to put in an order for some Autumn goodness. Full bodied and not floral please 😊

You just really can never have too many options can you?

Judydreamsofhorses · 29/08/2017 19:18

SOTD was MMM Untitled - trying to string out the spring/summer perfume as long as I can...

kittens what did you go for? I swear, I was on my knees yesterday, I hadn't taught for about 12 weeks and had forgotten how tiring it is, especially with new first years. Today was easier as I had no clssses in the afternoon, although I fear I am getting the cold and feel yuck.

Hello, bluebell!

MrsMacNally · 29/08/2017 19:29

Floof - that's very much reciprocated and you're making me Blush. Eagerly awaiting the Floofogram.

Green - that would've been me too, but I would've lacked the wit to take avoiding action.

Cheap - with you on the clothes process flow Smile.
The 'choice' aspect is interesting - certainly other aspects of my immediate environment feel less easy to control. Think there is also something about externalising personal/internal sensibilities ....have a dim recollection of someone writing about this somewhere. Thought it might have been Brain Eno's 90's essay - but it's not.

MrsMacNally · 29/08/2017 20:06

Welcome Bluebell - yes, think I have the same Miller Harris set as DM, but with you on the FdT. Funnily enough, was thinking about this and the exchange with Green on Oxford and things being 'masculine'. I've worn a lot of 'men's' perfumes over the years, but there is a particular note that just screams 'aftershave' which I struggle with. Looking at the FdT notes, I would've guessed pine, but then again, I do really love Yatagan.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 29/08/2017 20:28

Right, I know we aren't averse to inexpensive scents, but, I'm going to say something that may shock you.
Primark.
Not the usual range of pink mingers, but their "private collection" Some seem to be homages (ahem) to jm-basil and lime, some to fm (a heavy rosey-similar to poal) and (the one I got) ambre noir-lets just say cd may be interested in intellectual property. Starts at 3 quid for handbag spray, they do hand wash, body lotion, room spray and other bits. I'm trying it out before filling my bathroom. Obviously they aren't going to be perfect-but 3 quid!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 29/08/2017 20:30

I take it back, the ambre noir is more sl than cd.

explodingkittens · 29/08/2017 20:48

Welcome bluebell, and thanks for the notes on the Prada...soooo tempting! I've not bought a FB of anything for years and we're supposed to be saving money but it sounds like something I'd get some good wear from.

Judy, after the Lonestar disaster I went for Petit Matin which really wasn't punchy enough for my first day of teaching. Agree you forget how exhausting it is when you've not lectured for a few months - after 2 hours today my throat was hoarse and I've barely left the sofa since I got home. Pathetic really but there we go. This month at work is going to be horrendous, I'm really not looking forward to it and will need some scented armour to get through I think.

Lol at having to get through the olfactory pain barrier Mrs!

BluebellGal · 29/08/2017 21:07

Thank you for all the lovely welcomes - this really is a friendly thread! I'm called bluebell because my front garden is covered in them in spring (but they don't smell of much).

Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like FdT - it's a classic and I like tobacco scents (on the road, tabac vanilla) so was expecting to like it. But yes - too masculine! One for my DH I think.

Wfisthis - wow they are some good dupe finds! I often pop into Primarni (for socks, basic tees) but never look at the beauty section as I'm expect it's all awful! I'm not averse to cheap perfumes so this is good news but the dupes are interesting given Primark's market. Actually I think I remember reading Brooklyn Beckham wears FM PoaL and JM is very mainstream so I guess these choices of exclusive scents make sense. Not smelt Ambre Nuit but sounds like something I'd like.

Judydreamsofhorses · 29/08/2017 21:12

kittens I am the same. Yesterday I thought my throat was sore due to aggressive air conditioning, but I am now shivering on the sofa so am def getting a cold. I mainly teach the same two classes and there is always a "class cold" which does the rounds, but I can't believe I've been felled quite so quickly.

SeptemberWhenItComes · 30/08/2017 09:43

Bugger. Just realised it's not actually September yet at all Blush Even more embarrassingly it's not my wedding anniversary or anything, no reason to know the date or anything HmmBlush

So much for a quick offer related only post!

Knope2020 · 30/08/2017 10:01

I went back Friday
By Friday night I had a nasty head cold 😷
Dior addict for me today
Perfumed armour...love that. That's exactly what only Is!

Knope2020 · 30/08/2017 11:18

It is

BluebellGal · 30/08/2017 17:32

Sorry to hear lots of you are unwell - there's a bug going around which has laid me low too. Put some perfume on today to cheer me up before nursery pick up and received a compliment from manager - it was Shay & Blue Framboise Noire. I love it, but the longevity is not great. It's a woody gourmand - lots of juicy dark fruit and oud. I do seem to get most perfume compliments when I'm wearing an oud based perfume

BluebellGal · 30/08/2017 17:42

Thanks September and exploding kittens - off to explore perfumista and fragrance shop now - you enablers!!

Talking of which does anyone buy the Perfume Society discovery boxes? I found out about them on a blog I love (I Scent you a day) and am now addicted. Paid £25 to become a member (you get a magazine subscription, a learning box of fragrance families) and now I get all their boxes for £12.50. They're full of samples - some very niche and expensive brands. Also contain some skincare. Quite good if you don't know what you want. I do end up giving quite a few away though, although that's good too because I learn what I don't like!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 30/08/2017 18:18

Just talking to my dsis who knows someone who works for primark high up and apparently JM is threatening legal action, but they went 🖕🏻😆🖕🏻much like Marc Jacobs a few years ago. So the stuff might not be about too long.

MrsMacNally · 30/08/2017 20:01

Thanks Floof/Sept! Clearly the prompt I needed to hoover up their remaining Mary Greenwell stock locally (Christmas pressies - honest!) Is it tomorrow it expires?

MrsMacNally · 30/08/2017 20:14

Bluebell - have mixed feelings on the PS. They did a really great event near here, but mostly its very London centric. I've found the contents of some of the boxes a bit random. The Bloom sample packs look to be structured more logically, but I haven't ordered yet. Has anyone tried?

ThreeSangriasFloor · 30/08/2017 21:09

Hello perfume peeps new and old!

Just emerging from a few days of being ill with the lurgies which (delightfully) coincided with returning to work after the holidays. Gah.

Feeling a modicum better today. SOTD was Hypnotic Poison - to warm me up on a cold and grey day in London - but I was dreaming about Addict all day, and have just sprayed myself all over after my bath. I'm in heaven...

Can anyone tell me what Black Opium is like? It's passed me by, but the notes sound good. Or is it another LVEB-er?

Knope2020 · 30/08/2017 21:12

I'm not keen tbh
It's got an odd chemically smell imo

Knope2020 · 30/08/2017 21:13

I almost bought ghost deep night today
But I remained strong ✊

explodingkittens · 30/08/2017 21:14

SOTD - TF Tobacco Vanille. Lovely, warm and comforting for a drizzly grey and chilly day. Longevity is impressive as well; I put it on at 6.30am and I can still get a bit of skin-scent now, almost 15 hours later. Will definitely be giving this one another run out.
