I can't remember the name of the 18 dupe but it was one of the first I bought from PP. Nothing like the real thing sadly, has a sweet note that our beloved 19 doesn't.
I hummed and hawed over 19edp or Cristalle at the airport. Cristalle is on my to try list but lacks the bitter green of Jade.
I was attacked by a sprayer who forced me into trying Aura. Initially mouthwash that morphs into something nicer but still blimmin' odd.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 22/08/2017 12:22

18?????? Durrrr. 19 obvs.

YouAndYourFloofyCatNose · 22/08/2017 13:04

19 is "Perfect" I think, on PP. Their Chanel dupes that I have tried have been a bit hit and miss for me. If anyone can recommend a good one, I might try again!

I've just spent a few minutes thinking there was a perfume called "Midnight in the naughty cupboard" as I read the posts upthread totally wrongly Grin

I'm also sitting on the "having a bit of a mare with the NHS" bench and feeling extremely a little grumpy - I think the time of year makes it worse doesn't it, as I feel I should be doing more with the DC

SOTD is ET Violet Eyes, this is actually really growing on me as I keep reaching for it when I can't decide which "proper" scent I want. It's a shame the longevity is poor as it smells lovely.

Hello, Puppy, I did a bit of Perfume Parlour research back in March (28th). Here is an extract from my post:

Thanks to Cheap and her Perfume Parlour renamed Chanel suggestions, I have been doing some research. I think some of the Chanel names are:

Revival - Chance Eau Vive
Spike - No 5
Fabric - Chance EDT
Survival - Chance Eau Tendre
Invisible - Coco
Faint S - Allure
Faint for Women - Allure Sensuelle (puzzling that it's this way round and not Faint S, but it's definitely this way round according to the notes)
Adoring for Women - Coco Mademoiselle
Cyborg for Men - Allure Homme
Highlight for Men - Egoiste
Morish for Women - Sycomore
Perfect - No 19
Repute for Women - Coco Noir
Feature for Women - No 18 (but also Phantom for Women seems to have the same notes confused)
Mr for Men - Pour Monsieur
Punchy for Women - 1932
Clear for Women - Cristalle

The only one of these that I have is Sycomore (love it!) and please be aware that some of these have very few, or mixed, reviews, so you will need to do your own research before buying. I couldn't find Coromandel.

A later poster said she had thrown her Chanel 19 dupe - she thought it was a minger!

Knope2020 · 22/08/2017 13:09

Hope things get sorted for you soon floofy
The bus is great in acute situations but for those of us with chronic conditions....🤔

Puppylucky · 22/08/2017 13:34

Oh thank you so much Calm that's the post I was trying to hunt down ! Sadly it's confirmed that the PP Chanel 19 dupe is a total fail - my reason for asking the question in the first place was that I had bought Perfect hoping it was the 19 dupe and it smelt so different I thought I'd got it wrong! It actually smells more like Calyx - very dry and herby. Ah well here's hoping some of the others I bought are better
(And Ron Swanson rules!)

Knope2020 · 22/08/2017 13:45

Ron is my hero 😁
I've not had much luck with PP dupes sadly
Still waiting for Ikea.....

PerfumeIsAMessage · 22/08/2017 14:41

I have the Sycomore one which is fab. But I don't know what real Sycomore smells like!

YouAndYourFloofyCatNose · 22/08/2017 16:02

The PP version of Allure was OK - well the drydown was better than the initial scent which had a touch of the fairy liquid about it. I think it's the closest of their dupes that I tried.

I'm not an NHS basher generally by the way, agree with you knope that it is generally wonderful, especially acute care. The issues I have at the moment stem from an unexpected inpatient stay a while ago which went badly wrong and this was a direct result of understaffing and overworking. I have a lot of sympathy for the vast majority of NHS staff who work so hard but are so badly treated and under appreciated. It really angers me

DailyMaui · 22/08/2017 16:45

I'm not a NHS basher either - they saved my life when I was a kid and my son's life when he was six. But the underfunding is hurting so much - a few years ago I would have been prescribed an alternative or another medication to work with thyroxine but no chance now. So many of my family worked/work in the NHS and all say they are being squeeezed far too tight. It makes me VERY angry.

In other news I had an awayday thing for work today round the corner from Linerty. I spent two hours in there afterwards just smelling everything and having a wonderful chat with the assistants. I have ruled out the other Comme De Garçon incense range. But I finally got round to smelling Heeley's Sel Marin and Cardinal. Love at first whiff for both. I will be getting those s. I thought Cardinal would be like CDG Avignon which I like as a room spray but not on me! But Cardinal's dry airiness was bliss.

I also loved a perfume called Samphire but I can't remember who made it.

God I sniffed so much. And wanted so much. I'd take pretty much every Serge Lutens and Malle. And Heeley. While I was there the Escentric Molecules was flying off the shelves. I didn't actually see anyone buying anything else except a Diptyque candle and a Creed Virgin Island water. But I would say around 7 people bought EM.

DailyMaui · 22/08/2017 16:46

LIBERTY - in pretty sure there is no shop called Linerty!

Knope2020 · 22/08/2017 16:50

in the end sotd was sun moon stars
Liberty?
Oh how I'd LOVE to go there!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 22/08/2017 16:56

Linerty could be the pp version of Liberty.
I had a spritz of Stash? Sjp newish one, black label. At first I loved it, dirty and sweet. But now it's drifting into minger territory. Maybe as I have a vile headache. Mind, I'm not too struck on original sjp either.

DailyMaui · 22/08/2017 17:30

I've come away with the liberty perfume brochure and now I need to go back...

Has anyone smelled any Vilhelm perfumes? One of them smells of carrots which the designer says makes him think of psychopaths! I didn't try any as they were separate and had a very intimidating assistant. She could sense I wasn't buying!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 22/08/2017 18:06

Ohhhh DD and I are doing 3 days in London when we get back from this all too short week in Menorca.. I always tend to gravitate to Harrods or Harvey Nicks for a mahoosive perfume bender and hadn't really considered Liberty but shall now.

I am interested in smelling Cardinal and many of you lot going on about VIW makes me want to smell that too. I am on the lookout for some old fashioned Spanish eau de cologne and Tabu soap while I'm here but thus far have bought gin and cheese. Hey ho. Grin

Knope2020 · 22/08/2017 18:34

Gin and chesese perfume??
😂

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 22/08/2017 19:54

Midnight in the Naughty Cupboard indeed - chance would be fine thing 😁

A PP day for me with their White Patchouli. I do like this one a lot. Also got card through the door indicating that my bottle of Oxford (and a couple of Heeley samples) are ready for collection at the post office. Hooray!! Just need to find time to get there now...

Ooh I wish we had big department stores near enough to just pop into! Have a few spare hours to myself in September when ds starts school induction (how?! Sad ) bit it's not really long enough. I think I need to start dropping mega hints about away days in London...

GreenPolishToGo · 22/08/2017 20:04

Ooh, Daily I smelt a couple of Vilhelms at the shop attached to the Somerset House Perfume Exhibition and liked them very much, especially Dear Polly, which is black tea, bergamot, apple and musk. I didn't like the prices so much but they do come in 18ml sizes so they aren't completely and totally unreasonable if anyone falls in love with them.

Floofy Midnight in the Naughty Cupboard sounds like something Sarah Mac needs to make. I just got Midnight in the Palace Garden for my birthday and it is gorgeously luscious. I fell in love with a sample ages ago so when it popped up at a discount in 4160's Naughty Cupboard I took it as a sign and hinted madly - ie opened a tab, led DH to it and said: "I would really, really like this for my birthday"...

The Somerset House Perfume Exhibition was fascinating. Do go if you have the chance. DD and I spent over two hours there last week and I think our noses had shut down completely from olfactory overload by the time we left. My favourite scent was Daphné Bugey's recreation of Coty's L'Origan in its glory days - such a heavenly, rich, powdery floral. It's a sin that something so lovely isn't on sale any more.

Silver I am late to the rosy party but these are some of my favourite rose scents: Frederic Malle's Portrait of a Lady and Une Rose, Juliette Has A Gun's Mad Madame, Lady Vengeance and Miss Charming, Yves Saint Laurent Paris, 4160 Tuesday's Who Knew, Agent Provocateur's signature scent and Le Couvent des Minimes Eau du Cloître.

SOTD is another birthday present, vintage Balmain Ivoire. Alas, there's only about an inch left in the bottle but it is such an elegant, complex aldehydic fragrance redolent of the very best sort of old handbag. Modern Ivoire simply doesn't compare. It just smells like Dove soap to me.

Judydreamsofhorses · 22/08/2017 20:15

SOTD was Chanel 19 again - my bottle is almost done so bought a new one yesterday. It feels really autumnal here today, almost Mitsouko time...

Judydreamsofhorses · 22/08/2017 20:17

perfumeisamessage I think I have a sample of Cardinal if you want it? (I had a load of samples and then caved and bought a full bottle.)

Judydreamsofhorses · 22/08/2017 20:53

I definitely have a Cardinal sample, perfume, just checked my stash - message me if you want me to stick it in the post, I'd be delighted to spread the love.

34AQuid · 22/08/2017 22:41

Hola, fragrant ones!

Calm and Cheap (sounds like a Moschino fragrance Grin)...thank yoooouuuuu!!! I shall be purchasing Midnight from the naughty cupboard come pay day at the end of the month. I love you lot! The eyes and ears of the perfume world Grin.

Knope - I have been scouting eBay for a vintage Sun Moon Stars for ages but it's so pricey. Is (the divine) ET D&B a realistic dupe? I won't bother with the KL if yes (except I covet that blue bottle!).

In other news, my Dior Addict love affair has set me off on a dark/oriental vanilla quest on fragrantica lately...something I never thought I would be obsessed with as a floralista. I WANT that pricey Guerlain vanilla thingummy one! Oh why can't I be a lady of means? Grin. Bloody education ...do-gooding just doesn't support this habit!

Knope2020 · 22/08/2017 22:47

EL is similar to SMStars....but the latter is the better scent imo
and I love the bottle too!
I got my eBay bottle for £16 I think but it took me a few goes...
Glad you are going down the "dark" vanilla route...Grin
My ebay addict hasn't arrived yet
