Knope Mitsouko and Paloma some of my all time faves. Funnily I have to buy some Estée Lauder foundation next week and they have offer on-was toying with youth dew, but knowing may do it.
Kittens wow that woukd be lovely-thank you.
Some Serge Lutyens would also hit the spot, but need serious lottery win first.

Knope2020 · 16/08/2017 13:11

Youth dew is lovely but for skanky smoke it's knowing you need ;)

Pestilentialone · 16/08/2017 14:39

Skanky smoke you say? Must test knowing. Could be a name for my perfume Grin I am assuming that this old lady's handbag closes with a sound akin to an expensive car door and may contain part of an extinct animal.

Luca Turin gives knowing 5⭐

Knope2020 · 16/08/2017 15:34

(And I agree!)

explodingkittens · 16/08/2017 15:43

ohWhat - message me with your details; I won't be able to send it until next week though, hope that's ok?

PassiveAggressiveFloofiness · 16/08/2017 17:43

Oh pest I love handbags like that Blush

What on earth did the deleted post say - deleted on the perfume thread?!

OhWhatFuckery if my DH thought I smelt like Zoflora I would take that as a win Grin

It's years since I tried Knowing and I remember not liking it. Thinking about it, I may be confusing it with another EL - maybe linen or something? I might try it again. Is it comforting? I need comforting. My Op was cancelled again (literally on the table Shock) due to another issue they found and I can't begin to say how fucked off fed up I am. I may even reach for the Shalimar (despite it being August) which is the big guns of perfume comfort!

I am going off to eat trifle in the bath Grin

Pestilentialone · 16/08/2017 17:51

Flowers floofi what a bummer. Enjoy your trifle in the bath, put a couple of sprays in the water just before you get in, either shalima or something that goes with trifle.

Judydreamsofhorses · 16/08/2017 17:55

SOTD is Rive Gauche. Last day of the holidays here, I feel slightly sick at the thought of work tomorrow, especially my 6.30 alarm.

Oh, floofy, poor you. Trifle in the bath sounds like an excellent plan.

ohwhat I have a full bottle if Tauer Lonestar Memories and love it. My ultimate church/old lady handbag smell is Mitsouko, but I also very much enjoy Heeley Cardinal. He does a more incense-y one too, which I have samples of, but I can't remember the name off the top of my head.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 16/08/2017 19:29

Ah floof sorry to hear that. Trifle all the way...

SOTD was PP Miss Dior. Do like this one after a couple of hours and it lasts ages. Long busy crazy day tomorrow... tempted to order the Oxford after if it's still on offer as an "I made it!!!" reward!

Knope2020 · 16/08/2017 20:31

So sorry floofy Flowers
I find knowing very comforting

DailyMaui · 16/08/2017 20:37

Ooh thanks for all the salty recommendations. Will check them out.

SoTD is Portrait of a Lady. I love it. A big dirty rose that lasts for hours.

House scent: oud saffron. Really lovely. Warms my heart.

I have a teeny sample of Roja Dove's Diaghilev - that is VERY skanky handbag. So strong it could clear a room. He could offer it as an alternative to trident. At his perfume workshop everyone identified it as a vintage Guerlain and it is def a nod in that direction. I also have the PP copy and it is extremely similar. I only wear it if I'm not within five miles of anyone.

DailyMaui · 16/08/2017 20:40

Kittens I had exactly the same reaction to Maroc Pour Elle. I was expecting some exotic spicy smokey wondrousness. I just got powdery meh.

Knope2020 · 17/08/2017 08:37

Taking the dc and my nephews out today...
Sotd may be next cashmere

SparemetheDrama · 17/08/2017 09:05

A perfume thread- how lovely! Can I join please? I need some reassurance... Last night after my shower I reached for one of my favourite autumnal scents - Mitsouko, to be told by my DH that I smelled disgusting, like an old hippie!! I was shocked- I hadn't had a reaction this strong for a long time to any of my scent choices and to a perfume that I love!

Seeking something slightly aloof and much more together than I feel today - my sotd is Cristalle

Pestilentialone · 17/08/2017 09:17

Welcome Spareme never heard Mitsouko being compared to an old hippie, is your DH well? (slightly lighthearted but sense of smell can change when ill, assuming he used to like it)

I love Mitsouko, my go to light fragrances are; No19 for something green (or 4160's Ealing Green), Lavin's Eclat d’Arpège for a floral (all lilac and fresh) and Mary Greenwell's Lemon for a sophisticated citrus.

Otherwise it is skanky, smokey rose all the way

OP posts:
Knope2020 · 17/08/2017 09:24

Welcome!
As pest above ^ skanky rose all the way for me too :)
I do like mitsuoko - in fact to date it's the only guerlain I like
I'm currently lusting after some dior addict (vanilla and white florals)
If you like christalle - try yardley jade:)

Calminaqualm · 17/08/2017 11:48

Floofi, what a shame about your cancelled op. How disappointing! I hope you enjoyed your trifle as some consolation Cake.

I'm wearing L'Artisan's Nuit de Tubereuse today. I love this stuff - it smells like a hot dusty road, lined with scented flowering shrubs, in a hot country at night.

Pestilentialone · 17/08/2017 18:48

Scent of the day is Damn Rebel Bitches, my hands were dirtier than the publicity shot Grin with the hazelnut and malt it is a good gardening scent.

Judydreamsofhorses · 17/08/2017 20:59

SOTD was Chanel 19 for back to work. Probably again tomorrow for back to see my new best friend, the dentist.

GreenPolishToGo · 17/08/2017 22:26

Floofy I am so sorry about your cancelled op. What a horrible thing to happen, especially at the last minute. I think you deserve the very best trifle and plenty of it. Flowers

Les Senteurs is closed until the autumn for refurbishment. Shock But you can still order online. And I might have a half-price Oxford on the way...Unsniffed, which is something of a gamble, but I adored Ruth Mastenbroek's Amorosa and how can I not like something with galbanum in? 'Tis all your fault MsRinky - thank you for the tip!

Greetings Spare, all perfume-lovers welcome here and there's nothing wrong with smelling like an old hippie. Most of us are very happy to smell like an old something, whether it be a lady, a church, a handbag or a hippie - sometimes all at once.

SOTD is 4160 Tuesdays Eau My Soul from the latest crowd-funding project for the Eau my Soul Facebook group. It has everything but the kitchen sink in it, but in a good way. The notes are sandalwood, amber, vanilla, patchouli, rose, frankincense, benzoin, tonka, iris, tobacco, bergamot, musk, woods, orange blossom, labdanum, oakmoss, myrrh, lavender, honey, opoponax, cognac, vetivert, neroli, leather and tuberose. Phew - trying saying all that at once! It smells divine - elegant, spicy and powdery, and it lasts for hours.

PassiveAggressiveFloofiness · 18/08/2017 09:27

You're all lovely, thank you for sympathy and good trifle wishes Smile I am extremely grumpy as not only did I waste an outing of my best underwear Grin I have to attend a slightly dreaded family wedding this weekend and being post op would have been a good excuse for an early exit

Anyway. Welcome spare. You fit right in! Smelling like an old hippie, I would take as a win, just like smelling of zoflora Grin DH once told me I smelt like a charity shop from the 1990s (think it was Lush Karma?) and I was delighted Smile

I'm also looking forward to moving onto Autumn scents. Autumn is my absolute favourite time of year (sorry Summer folk) and it will soon be time for The Marzipan Type Perfumes to make an appearance (hurrah!) And Mary Greenwell Fire, a very Autumnal scent in my head.

Knope2020 · 18/08/2017 11:02

I'm cleaning so sotd is bleach and sweat 😣😂
I will try and be more fragrant later

DailyMaui · 18/08/2017 11:39

SOTD is "'Artisan's Ambre Extreme which I love. It's very comforting and warming. It works in hot weather too which is nice, although it's more breezy sunshine here today. Very cross that Luca Turin thinks so little of it.

SALTY SCENT ALERT - It's my birthday soon and rather than trust the husband (who got it so badly wrong a few years ago that he in return was bought crap chocolates for any subsequent celebration until he mended his ways) ... I went onto the TKMaxx website and lo and behold, there was Calvin Klein's Reveal for £16.99. It's a totally blind buy but what could possibly go wrong???

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 18/08/2017 11:44

I stumbled on a 15ml bath oil of Guerlain Parure. would anyone be interested in swapping something for this if there are any Guerlain fans on the thread? it's a lovely scent but i have to be careful with skin/bath products and i've just had a severe reaction to something so don't want to risk inflaming it any further Smile i think it's vintage as well or at least my findings so far indicate that it is
