Sock
, poor Sock, what a nightmare for you. There's just nothing you can do about gridlock like that but when you're trying to get to a wedding it must be horribly frustrating and upsetting. I think you deserve a scented treat after such a disappointment.
We ( Calm, MrsC, MrsS, Pestilential and me) had a much happier day because the 4160s Workshop was blissful and most definitely to be recommended to anyone with a smidgen of interest in scent. I have worn nothing but my own concoction - Vipers' Outing - since, in my astonishment and delight at managing to produce something I really like under Sarah's guidance.
I really am rather rubbish at distinguishing individual notes so I wasn't that confident I'd create anything other than insect repellant, but Sarah (who is lovely, friendly, bubbling with enthusiasm and very, very knowledgeable) made it so much easier by giving us scent sticks of around 30 different notes so we could pick out notes we liked and then work out which we thought would work together before mixing up samples in small tester bottles and doing a lot of sniffing.
I learnt that my beloved galbanum is rather like using garlic in cooking - wonderful but you really, really don't want to overdo it. I ended up using just six drops of it in the final version of Vipers' Outing and the top notes are as sharp and green as freshly cut grass.
Everyone's creations were impressive and comically different - green, gourmand, smoky, leathery etc. I think between us we spanned practically the entire perfume spectrum except the pink minger class.
Sarah and her DH Nick were very welcoming and we got spoilt with samples, champagne and hefty discounts. I think I was very restrained stupid in only picking up Lemon Sherbert and Who Knew? Oh, and Eau My Soul plus surprise (and a very nice surprise it is too) from the latest 4160s crowd-funding project - but I'd already paid for that so it doesn't count, ahem.
It was fascinating, great fun and lovely to meet all these fellow beautifully scented, cute furry animal loving types of a certain age with dodgy teeth. Thank you Sarah and thank you MrsC for organising it all. When are we doing it again?!
After all, I only have 29 bottles of 4160 Tuesdays, not counting samples...
