Love the diagram, Pest! I really wanted to love Nuxe Prodigieux as it seemed to have all the notes I like, especially coconut, but having tested it over and over again, courtesy of Booots, there is a persistently unpleasant smell in the basenotes to my nose. I tried Estee Lauder's Sensuous Nude, though, on the recommendation of someone here, and I love it! I have just bought a small bottle from Ebay.

MrsMartell I also tried Dior Addict. Nope, not for me, but I love Hypnotic Poison. I had a 5ml sample which I finished and am now making do with a PP dupe (very good).

Mrsmartell08 · 10/08/2017 19:22

Oh I think that was me calm! Glad you like it.
I didn't get coconut at all from NP - i hate it so def couldn't smell it

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 10/08/2017 19:31

Oh Pest that is truly fabulous. What isn't improved by an actual diagram?!

Lemony bergamoty things in m&s?! Hmmm this might need investigating...

Have just had my annual "tell us what you want for you birthday" message from mil... I never say anything but am tempted to curb the badgering this year by asking for a fb of something... feels a bit rude but avoids dh making recommendations.

Very much enjoyed the PP White Patchouli and it was strong enough for me to be asked what it was. Unusual for me!

MrsCocoa · 10/08/2017 19:40

Great job Pest!

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/08/2017 20:15

I tick all of your Venn diagram boxes:

Perimenopausal

Bad teeth (just broken a back one)

Rescue cat

Lots of pefume

SOTD is Musc Nomade by Annick Goutal.

Judydreamsofhorses · 10/08/2017 21:02

SOTD is EL Bronze Goddess. I actually really don't like this, and don't know why I persist in trying with it. If anyone wants it, holler.

Love the Venn diagram! I am not yet peri menopausal, but other boxes are firmly ticked. Dentist again tomorrow.

I would love to share a photo of my little diva, but she's pretty distinctive and very popular on my Instagram feed. Happy to share via PM though, she is exceptionally pretty!

OCSockOrphanage · 10/08/2017 21:04

Loving the diagram, but I am well past meno, my teeth are still mostly (okay only just) my own, and my DH thinks any one who likes cats is gay. Can I still play here? If I am allowed, the SoTD was Dries van Noten. I think I'd marry him.

Judydreamsofhorses · 10/08/2017 21:05

Hmm, i don't think you can do a photo in a PM? Just tried to message floofy

GreenPolishToGo · 11/08/2017 02:00

Greetings Scented Ones, hope you're all well and still smelling fabulous. I have tons to catch up on (have been laptop-less) but am very intrigued by the scarily accurate Venn diagram. How did you know my dentist dances with glee and books a foreign holiday whenever he gets my mouth in his clutches?!

All cat-lovers are super intelligent and infinitely likeable. Congratulations Judy I should love to see a pic of your new moglet too.

Anyone else a bit daunted by the prospect of concocting their own perfume at the Workshop on Saturday? I am looking forward to it (and thank you again MrsC for organising it all) but I am such a numpty when it comes to identifying individual notes!

SOTD was 4160 Tuesdays Oriane. DD loved mine so much she got her own bottle and we are both agreed that it needs to be in the regular line-up - Guerlain should be bowing down before it.

lasttimeround · 11/08/2017 07:16

Excellent diagram - definitely perimenopausal and teeth issues and lots of perfume for me.

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/08/2017 09:23

SOTD is Halston. Used to wear it when I was 17, so lots of memories.

Who will I meet tomorrow?

MrsCocoa · 11/08/2017 09:42

Don't worry OC this was a quick plotting of random connections rather than the setting out of membership conditions! "In diversity there is beauty and there is strength". Smile

Anyone got a dog? Grin

Mrsmartell08 · 11/08/2017 09:48

Sotd ET diamonds and rubies

Have a fab time tomorrow x

MrsCocoa · 11/08/2017 10:05

Hi Green - good to hear from you! Yes, have ideas for top and heart but can't settle on base notes. Have been reading up a bit on things that are good fixatives, as I'd love to give my concoction a little bit of longevity, but fear my head may explode with the challenge of settling on this, and then blending into something that actually smells good. Daunting but thrilling Smile. Hoping to sniff the Prousts tomorrow.

Have been looking out for a bottle of vintage Halston on eBay MrsS - do you know how the current formulation compares?

SotD, in order to help get into a 4160s mood, is the glorious Babylon Sunset. I usually pass on the fruity florals but this is joy in a bottle.

AgentCooper · 11/08/2017 10:11

Hello perfumistas, I was hoping someone might have suggestions for me. My all time favourite smell is Diptyque's Lait Frais moisturiser - orange blossom, creamy and white flowery.

When they brought out Eau des Sens, which was described as orange blossom, I was so excited but it's too citrusy for me, really missing that white flower creamy side. Would anyone be able to recommend a fragrance that is orange blossom but more floral than citrus?

PassiveAggressiveFloofiness · 11/08/2017 14:07

Agent I'm not very good on orange blossom I'm afraid, my closest is a Bronnley one Blush but I'm sure a more expert Perfumista will have good recommendations.

Welcome back green, nice to see you back! I bet you all can't wait for the workshop. I am really looking forward to hearing all about it and what you all choose for your blends Smile

Interesting isn't it that we all have so much in common, including aches and pains too! MrsM and onenight I sympathise, I have quite a niche (and outing!) disease but nerve and joint damage feature heavily hence the lovely aura of deep heat! Funnily enough, I've always liked perfume but it only became an obsession hobby in the last few years when I became ill. I find it very comforting.

No to dogs though I'm afraid MrsC but a big yes to cats and lots and lots of books, especially history and I'm taking a guess a few of you also share this obsession!

My PP Addict still hasn't arrived and I am getting very antsy. It was dispatched Monday so I will give it until next week. I really want to try it now!

I want have you tried any more PP Acqua di Parmas, if they have any? I have loved all the ADP samples I have tried, especially Mandorlo di Sicili (in my top hundred ten) but they are so pricey! If the PP dupes are even OKish I shall give them a whirl.

IWantToSmellLikeAMemory · 11/08/2017 14:31

I haven't tried any of the others, no, but I have a theory that PP scents work better when they are less "complex" perfumes- ie Jo Malones, soliflores, the Tom Ford spendy ones, Neroli Portofino etc- (ie all the fragrances which (IMO) go for style and fancy-schmancy packaging Wink) so I reckon AdPs will all be pretty good.

SoTD vintage Dioressence again, and my lovely boss asked (again) what it is, so I'm going to gift it to her when we go our separate ways next week as I have 2 more 10ml bottles at home.

Tempted by the Perfume Soc latest box but it won't get to me here on time I don't think.

OCSockOrphanage · 11/08/2017 14:34

SockDog is no perfumista. She likes water, fox poo (or badger poo) and muddy puddles. We own a spray of lavender deodorising coat freshener for days when I can't face bathing her, or stand the whiff.

Thanks for the reassurance that I can still play here, MrsC. Have a fantastically fragrant workshop day out tomorrow y'all. I am pondering scent choice for a wedding reception.

Mrsmartell08 · 11/08/2017 14:41

Agent...have you tried any of the Demeter orange scents...there are quite a few iirc?
I really liked the lemon and bergamot m and s one from yesterday - very tom ford esqe packaging.
It was really lovely.

MrsCocoa · 11/08/2017 14:42

Agent - I'm not very good on orange blossom either - Seville a l'Aube would be pretty much my only suggestion. I don't get much citrus with this but it is big, bold and beeswaxy. One to test....

Mrsmartell08 · 11/08/2017 14:50

Or sun by lush?

Calminaqualm · 11/08/2017 16:02

Hi Agent, Serge Lutens' Fleur d'Oranger is a honeyed orange blossom, beautiful but expensive. Le Couvent des Minimes' Cologne of Love is a herby orange blossom. It is less than £20 for a large bottle so you can spray with abandon. Yves Rocher have Fleur d'Oranger Lavande Petit Grain. This is a floral but there is a slight citrussy note which comes from the petit grain. If I remember it was less than a fiver, but doesn't last long. The Fragonard range, which is in Marks & Spencer's so easy to test, includes a Fleur d'Oranger. I haven't tried this but Fragrantica reviews suggest it has a citrussy opening but with a honeyed dry-down. Also easy to test in any of the main department stores is Prada's Infusion de Fleur d'Oranger. I don't know this one, but the reviews are good!

I'm looking forward to the workshop tomorrow and to meeting some of you. I might bring with me some of my favourite PP dupes. They include several of the Jo Malone ones, so I think IWantToSmell's theory is spot on. We will report back!

Pestilentialone · 11/08/2017 16:06

Agent try La Chasse aux Papillons by L`Artisan Parfumeur or Boss orange.

I've picked up my ticket for tomorrow. I shall be at Ealing Broadway at 9.50, then a quick bus.

IWantToSmellLikeAMemory · 11/08/2017 17:37

Have a wonderful day tomorrow! Can't wait to hear what you make!

Dd has the fragonard Fleurs d'Oranger and also the Senteurs one (is it? stocked by M &S) Yves Rochers Essence de Neroli is also very light orangey.

I am noting the Lemon and Bergamot to try when I hit a big M & S next week.

If anyone is interested (and has rabbit with flu eyelashes like me) I have found the HOLY GRAIL of mazzies! My boss came back yesterday seriously looking like she'd had falsies put in and the others tinted and all it was was ONE coat of the new Dior one. Dior show pump and volume- I scuttled out immediately and got one. Amazing. Grin

SOTD - Comme Des Garcons, Gosha Rubchinskiy
