Wear the Lace MrsM if you need comfort? You also don't want to asphyxiate poor dentist Grin My most comforting is actually L'Aimant, for times of extreme need or just going to bed.

I'm still waiting anxiously at the window for my Addict dupe. I fear it may have gone to my Shameless neighbours (who entertainingly had a Big Fight in the street) last night. Please someone reassure me and say PP are just a bit slower these days!

I'm very excited on everyone's behalf that the workshop approaches and look forward to hearing about everyone's creations especially if they contain the word Floofy Wink

Hope everyone has a peaceful day :)

PassiveAggressiveFloofiness · 08/08/2017 10:12

Oh and I meant to say I've enjoyed reading everyone's perfume memories. I think everyone's mother used Youth Dew didn't they? Grin My mother was a fan of Opium, Samsara, Cinnabar etc and I do remember a tasselled bottle on her dressing table which I used to play with when I was teeny.

My grandmother was a Chanel or Penhaligon's type - big mirrored dressing table with matching silver brush sets and pots of talc etc. I try to emulate this but sadly it's just the top of a chest covered in random perfumes and floofy cats and a hairbrush filled with pink hair Grin

Being serious though, I think I've said before that scent has such powerful memories. I've actually made a list for my DC of the perfumes I wear so they can remember me (and post on MN perfume thread 3568 in 2037).

Mrsmartell08 · 08/08/2017 11:18

I went for cashmere in the end - didnt want to put the dentist off his work! 😁
I love laimant too! Another one my mum wore. I think your mum and I have very similar tastes! Adore opium, cinnabar etc
First lot of work done...back next week for final bit 😣
I'm going to watch trashy tv and tackle the laundry mountain
Have a good day all x

Puppylucky · 08/08/2017 12:34

SOTD Bouchon Pour Femme - starts out pretty and floral but the dry down has that bitter bad breath note that I associate with the big 80's and 90's scents (aldehydes?) so somewhat undecided as to whether I like it or not

Mrsmartell08 · 08/08/2017 12:49

I'm thinking of trying something else today...
Maybe something musky

34AQuid · 08/08/2017 13:05

Haven't got a SOTD yet. Got a stinking headache. Also off to tackle the laundry...

SirVixofVixHall · 08/08/2017 13:29

SOTD a mix ,as I'm trying testers- I've just tried Quelque Fleurs- like it as lot, although there is something slightly rubbery in the drydown? Now have Lemon on one wrist- initially almost identical to Eau Jeune which got me excited , but it quickly dried down to something sherberty and woody. Like but not love, might give it to older daughter (12), as it is so fresh and youthful. I love the packaging. Also bought the Plum which smallest daughter (10) is trialling. On my other wrist is Eau Suave by Parfum D'Empire. I really like this, but I don't know how to describe it, it is very cheerful and warm , lovely in all its stages.

OCSockOrphanage · 08/08/2017 14:26

Eau Suave is gorgeous, SirVix. If it came in smaller bottles, I would buy a bottle. 30ml, or even 50ml, would be perfect. Understand that it is inspired by the Empress Josephine and her roses.

Judydreamsofhorses · 08/08/2017 18:58

SOTD is Heeley Sel Marin.

kitten I love L'Air de Rien almost as much as Chanel 19. I always have a bottle on the go, and mourn the fact they stopped doing the body cream to match it.

Judydreamsofhorses · 08/08/2017 19:01

mrsm, dentist sympathies, I have had months of woe, and spent the summer trotting back and forth there. I'm back on Friday and suspect it's not over yet. I've started clenching at night due to stress, which has triggered a whole host of problems - I actually had to have a back tooth out last month after I cracked its filling, had it restored, had a root canal, then that failed. Expensive and awful. I hope you're okay.

Mrsmartell08 · 08/08/2017 19:16

Oh judy, poor you!
That sounds very familiar 😔😔
I lost a tooth last year after a failed filling and failed root canal 😡
Today was stage 1 of a crown
My teeth are terrible - they don't look bad but are very very weak
I decided to do some exercises and then the rest of the afternoon was spent worth g out household admin
Always fun 🤔
I might have a spray of something before bed

Judydreamsofhorses · 08/08/2017 19:58

mrsm weirdly, people always compliment my teeth, which are very straight and white - they can't see I am missing two back ones at one side and one on the other! Stage two of the crown will be fine, the work has been done now do it's essentially just removing the temp and cementing in the permanent - you won't even need an injection. (I should have had a crown post root canal in the tooth I ended up having extracted.) I swear, I have spent so much time reading about dental stuff online over the last while I am virtually a dentist now. My partner actually activated parental controls on the wifi for one particular forum I kept going on because he was getting so annoyed at me reading about worst case scenarios and freaking myself out.

Mrsmartell08 · 08/08/2017 20:04

After a £1k Bill last year I got very tearful and told dh it would be cheaper to divorce me and find a wife with better teeth! 😂

Judydreamsofhorses · 08/08/2017 20:22

I am so, so lucky that I am an NHS patient in a mainly private practice, because I've been there since I was a child. Toothache is the absolute pits, my whole summer holiday has just been consumed with my teeth and anxiety about my teeth. We go back next Thursday - although no students for a week or so - and I can't quite believe I am still trudging back and forth there like I was before we broke up!

Mrsmartell08 · 08/08/2017 20:26

I'm back next Thursday too
We can commiserate together then 😁
I ended up having a spritz of lush twilight (lavender and Tonka bean)
It's soothing and ds2 loves it too
Got visitors coming am and pm tomorrow so will go for something understated...
Hahaha
Yeah
Right
Maybe not 😂

IWantToSmellLikeAMemory · 08/08/2017 22:32

I need to give L'Air de Rien another go- I remember trying it earlier in the year and remarking it smelled exactly like Rien on me! Skanky elbow crooks sounds intriguing and must be another contender for our next thread.

Am v tired so grabbed PP dupe of JM seasaltwoodythingy again today.

I really need crowns on my front teeth as have veneers which I fear may be on their last legs and will probably fall into my dinner at some inopportune moment.

Mrsmartell08 · 08/08/2017 22:34

I'm tired too
But am yet again watching trash on my kindle

MrsCocoa · 09/08/2017 00:24

MrsM and Judy - you have my sympathy, that sounds painfully familiar. (My work was done by rookie Dentist who took 6 appoints to do the root canal (which then failed)).

Ok, so I need something soothing now too. Going to bed with L'AdDM. (My recently acquired sample isn't going to last very long at this rate... Pest - hope you're still on for the Swiss trip?Smile).

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 09/08/2017 06:11

Ooh sympathies for the teeth woes. Mine were particularly affected by my pregnancies and I had to have a fair bit of work done after DS2. Not much fun...

Yesterday's sotd was 4160 Goodbye Piccadilly. I really wanted to love this one because of the story of it (DS1 obsessed with transport and would move into the London Transport Museum of allowed, the era/story of the smells...) and I DID! Hooray!! Violetty but in a vanilla-y way rather than powdery like the Tokyo Spring Cafe. I wonder if some of you might be able to get some insider info at the weekend on what's coming up on the half price offers Grin

Pulled put a random free sample for today - got Givenchy Live Irresistable. Not smelt it yet but the design of the bottle and branding don't fill me with confidence...

explodingkittens · 09/08/2017 06:58

Morning all! The skank elbow crook stuck around all day, but my wrists settled nicely into mellow amber loveliness which was still there at 10pm - that's 16 hours from first spray so not bad! I will definitely be giving L'AdR another go.

Odd how it smelled so different on my wrists and in my elbow though, skin chemistry is a funny thing.

SITE is Diptyque's Tam Dao. Definitely getting a joss-sticks vibe from this one, with a good whack of generic curry powder too. I'm hoping something a bit less 'first-year student digs kitchen' might emerge later. Undecided at this point, shall we say! Grin

Mrsmartell08 · 09/08/2017 07:52

Ugh
What a horrible day out there ☔️
I'm torn on sotd
I've got visitors am and pm
Off to town tomorrow for more sniffing...yay!

MrsCocoa · 09/08/2017 08:55

Cheap - really looking forward to trying Goodbye Piccadilly and Parallel (and the Proust duo) at the weekend. Recall a 4160 newsletter inviting people to email in with requests for what to feature in the half price offer - so you could always lobby!

Difficult day ahead here. Thinking about SotD - I need something leathery and uncompromising. So that's a big blast of Azuree going on now. If the going get's tough I may break out the B**...

PassiveAggressiveFloofiness · 09/08/2017 10:03

Why didn't we think of B* for the dentist visits?! Round up all the horrible terrible things in life in one place together (sorry MrsC I'm sure you smell lovely Grin and hope that your day isn't too stressy).*

Skanky elbow crooks sounds fab, like a punk band or a good perfume thread title! I'm convinced each of my wrists make the same perfume smell differently, I have a tentative theory that it's down to different tattoo ink under the skin...I keep trying to catch DH's wrists to test this theory further but he has resisted all attempts so far.

Goodbye Piccadilly is fabulous, almost as good as Invisible BenGrin I don't know why but I seem unable to pick out notes in the 4160s until they settle.

PassiveAggressiveFloofiness · 09/08/2017 10:04

Look you see, B** buggers up my formatting too. They hate me Grin

IWantToSmellLikeAMemory · 09/08/2017 10:07

I love Tam Dao- although it doesn't smell that much different to Dune to my un-note-sensitive nose.

I am in Tart's Knicker Drawer, and after the strangely "oh what is that strangely not unpleasant smell of BO" it has settled into oversweet generic vanilla-y PM and I can't wait to scrub it off. Sad

(I am however very excited as a Bulgarian colleague has been recommending a serum she considers the elixir of youth so we've all ordered one, and it's arrived today! Cheap as chips, and the woman is over 50 with nary a wrinkle!)
