Ooh mrsm - I haven't tried Addict before, but have heard good things. Whats it like? Is it very vanilla-ey?

Mrsmartell08 · 02/08/2017 11:02

It is! Very. But has Tonka bean too which I seem to be slightly addicted to!
It was launched in 2002...cant believe I've not tried it before tbh

Judydreamsofhorses · 02/08/2017 13:29

MMM Untitled today. I have done two really stupid things. I ironed my Whistles skirt on too high a heat, and it disintegrated - it was the perfect black midi, with pockets, and I justified the expense knowing it would be worn for years. I then tried to track down a replacement, after a few tears, and have ended up ordering from a frankly dodgy website, because it's (obviously) sold out everywhere "proper". What an idiot.

Mrsmartell08 · 02/08/2017 16:19

Oh Judy, what a shame!
I ordered some stuff from the next sale when will l learn?? and the first jacket has turned up and it's vile. So that's going back!

IWantToSmellLikeAMemory · 02/08/2017 19:39

34Aquid- I absolutely agree about Paris Premieres Roses- it was getting a honk of that at some point last year, that made me realise I needed some old formulation Paris. As the couple of bottles of old Paris I have snagged have lost the top notes a bit, the PR gives a more accurate first blast of what the rich old version used to be like.

SoTD PP Wood Sage JM thingy. (never get them in the right order) LIke it muchly, and my boss here (who shakes her head at my perfume obsession (while I shake mine at the quantity of shoes she has) said I smell magnificent.

MrsCocoa · 02/08/2017 19:44

That's a killer Judy Gin.

On a cheerier note, Tiger has brilliant 4ml glass perfume bottles (spray) for £1. Much more robust than usual decant bottles - looks like you could throw them in your handbag and not worry at all about breakages.

Last call for our Aug 12th perfume making workshop with Sarah Mc at 4160s. PM me or Green if you are interested in coming along....

IWantToSmellLikeAMemory · 02/08/2017 19:47

Oh, forgot to say, a colleague is drenched in something very very sweet and heavy (I would have loved it when I was 12) and when I asked she said it was Very Irresistible (?) by Givenchy and it's the only thing she wears. When I thought about how she smelled, compared to Giv III and Eau du Giv, or even Ysatis, I thought dear Audrey would be turning in her grave.

Judydreamsofhorses · 02/08/2017 19:49

Thanks, mrs x 2 - I am so angry at myself. Now I wait to see if anything turns up. I did at least pay with my credit card so should have some protection.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 03/08/2017 06:50

Fingers crossed on the skirt Judy... I took a punt on some cheap Amazon dresses when they were extra cheap on Prime Day and so far so good. We'll have to see if they start falling apart after a few wears and washes but the fits have been quite flattering!

MrsC the workshop sounds like so much fun and I've just had the lightbulb moment that nearly all of the scents I really like have Bergamot so I'd love playing with that... but alas I shall spend that day in the office looking at A Level results Sad

Yesterday's scent of the day was PP Miss "Dee-or". Don't know which version of the real thing they're going for but I like it. First spray is a bit dry and old smelling but it's lovely when it settles and has a nice waftiness- not so much that it'sbothering others but enough that I can smell it without having to put nose to wrist.

FloofyCat · 03/08/2017 09:17

Judy, you see this is why no one should iron, ever. It only leads to heartbreak. I used to wear suits buttoned up and just run my hair straighteners over the collars and visible parts of my shirts. I couldn't ever take my jacket off though Grin

I'm tempted by the Dior Addict now as I'm feeling a lack of vanilla-y things in my life. Has anyone got the PP version?

You're selling the PP JM wood sage one too though, I want. Magnificent, you say? Does it smell Jo Malone-y though as they instantly turn to air freshener on me.

Your workshop day approaches! I'm imagining a group of well dressed stylish women recognising each other on a London street by the wonderful scents wafting from them and giving a secret signal. Grin

MrsCocoa · 03/08/2017 09:55

Floof - we'll all be wearing the trousers obvs. Grin

lasttimeround · 03/08/2017 11:10

I've just placed my first ever perfume parlour order. Squee!!!

Mrsmartell08 · 03/08/2017 11:12

Floofy...ill be interested to see what you think of it
Nightmusk for me today

lasttimeround · 03/08/2017 11:16

Judy - a good skirt (with pockets!!!!) I feel your pain so badly.

34AQuid · 03/08/2017 11:26

Paris Premieres Roses again for me today. I'm also tempted by the sound of Dior Addict, as could do with an oriental-ish vanilla...skint though!

Mrsmartell08 · 03/08/2017 11:33

PP do a good dupe apparently....

IWantToSmellLikeAMemory · 03/08/2017 15:09

I have the PP dupe of Dior Addict but haven't tried it yet. The JM dupe goes a bit aftershavey as many sea-salt-sage combos do, but in a good way.

Ealing Green today. Love it.

So, of my 4160s so far, Ealing Green and London 1969 are definitely FB worthy, Lion Cupboard is lovely, but I'd go for a Tauer FB rather than this, and the Paris 1948 is, sadly, verging on PM territory for me.

Mrsmartell08 · 03/08/2017 16:12

Try it try it! 😁
We neeeeeeed to know if its good!!

FloofyCat · 03/08/2017 17:20

I've ordered the PP Addict Blush I'm a sucker for a floriental. I want you need to try it and report back, it's only fair! And how can you have got a new perfume and not tried it immediately anyway Grin

IWantToSmellLikeAMemory · 03/08/2017 17:30

Durrrrrrrr, because about 18 bottles all arrived at once of course!

OK, in your honour, I walked up to my room and sprayed some on a card-it is massive, and you must remember I have no idea what the original smells like, I just got this because the baa-baa sheep effect took over!

It is very nineties/noughties- starts off fruity-floral (think Florentyna and that sort of heavy flower type- not PM though- just very very powerful. Within 20 minutes the vanilla has kicked in and now it's Florentyna + vanilla.

It's not me, for sure, though it's not unpleasant. I can see me reaching for it as a warming comfort blanket on a cold windy wet afternoon.

FloofyCat · 03/08/2017 17:31

Sorry, got overexcited and clicked post too soon!

Last time what did you order? Perfume Parlour as a whole is definitely on the Gateway Drug list Grin

MrsC how could I forget about the terrible trousers?! I think I would have an exemption (if I was attending) as my hair kind of makes me recognisable Wink So if anyone sees someone in RL with a pink Mohican and unironed clothes feel free to run up and sniff them Grin

FloofyCat · 03/08/2017 17:35

I admire your dedication! I absolutely love Florentyna, in fact it was probably one of my first perfumes Blush so I am extremely excited now!

I'm thinking it may be a little like Allure, in that drying down in vanilla but smelling very different on different people, kind of way.

I hope my order makes it safely to my door and doesn't get snaffled by my awful neighbours, like my last PP order.

Mrsmartell08 · 03/08/2017 17:38

Thank you vintage!

Judydreamsofhorses · 03/08/2017 17:48

SOTD is Chanel 19, for lovely lunch with one of my oldest friends.

SKIRT UPDATE: we had a wander into John Lewis after lunch, and they had it in an eight and a 12, so I snapped up the eight - the original was a 10, but the waist is partly elasticated, so the eight is fine. If the dodgyskirt.com one arrives I can always return the JL one. (What's the bets the summer is absolutely definitely done now, and I never wear the skirt?)

IWantToSmellLikeAMemory · 03/08/2017 18:03

Noooo, nothing like Allure. Allure is like Dune! I realise that Dior Addict is a very popular perfume, as it's definitely one I've smelled around loads on other people.
