I'm desperate to try Diorella, Cocoa. It sounds right up my street.

Feeling better today and have even come in to work (I'm term time only, but wanted to get a few bits of paperwork out of the way).

SOTD is YSL Paris. After decades of dislike, its now a firm love.

FloofyCat · 28/07/2017 10:39

MrsC I will be immensely proud if my dream combo is a winner! I have very vivid realistic dreams since I started rattling with painkillers and could write a MN woo thread about all the stuff I have dreamt that then became true

Sables was launched originally at men, or am I getting confused? If it's the one I'm thinking of, Harrison Ford wears it and there is a bottle available on Amazon (UK).

I must get my paws on some Diorella, it's always raved about on here.

Have given Black Opium another whirl. Still dislike the opening, it smells as though I've had a cigarette and covered it up with perfume. After a couple of hours it's lovely though and has a good longevity on my hoover skin. Can't get the coffee at all though, it's just a very sweet vanilla to me. I'm surprised how sweet it is. Maybe it's all the cheesecake I've eaten Grin

FloofyCat · 28/07/2017 10:44

I bet Harrison Ford smells lovely.

34AQuid · 28/07/2017 13:08

Pay day on Monday and I am treating myself to a full bottle of something...what should it be?

Top of my list is Chanel No.19, which I used to have years ago, so am familiar with.

Diorella is edging in, though...Grin

Also want some Shalimar, Samsara, Mitsouko....

arghhhh. But I can only have one.

MrsCocoa · 28/07/2017 14:17

Floofy - you've reminded me, I also got to smell Jasmin et Cigarette at the weekend. Only tried it on paper, and was surprised it was an unsmoked cigarette; quite clear smelling. Not sure if smokey notes come through on warm skin.

3 - are you thinking vintage formulations or new?

OCSockOrphanage · 28/07/2017 15:16

Any of you receive the invitation to the monthly subscription offer from Scent & Co? It popped into my email this morning, and I shall be considering it when I have finished my spag bol batch for the freezer. There's 20% off for a limited time... £15 for 30 days supply of any premium fragrance is the essence of it. Not that I wished to be accused of throwing temptation into your paths Just an idea.

OCSockOrphanage · 28/07/2017 16:04

Looking at the selection, I think it's a spin off from Scent Samples and a test run for a Beauty Pie model... The list looks familiar.

Mrsmartell08 · 28/07/2017 16:44

Judydreamsofhorses · 28/07/2017 20:34

My eBay Jo Malone arrived today, so SOTD was Wood Sage and Seasalt. Nicer as a candle, tbh.

mrscocoa I used to have Jasmin et Cigarette, it is lovely. I did the whole ELDO taster pack thing a few years back, then the Serge Lutens one, and the JHAG one was my gateway drug.

MrsCocoa · 28/07/2017 21:24

I recognise that sorry story Judy...

...it's just 10 Euros, just a little sniff, everyone's doing it, what harm can it possibly do...and the next thing you know you're spending you're evenings looking around the house for things to sell on eBay in order to secure your next fix...

Mrsmartell08 · 29/07/2017 08:33

😂

Mrsmartell08 · 29/07/2017 08:34

Sotd prob my ebay knowing edp
I neeeeed my perfume fix!

34AQuid · 29/07/2017 10:42

Morning all. Back on form now - thank goodness!

MrsCocoa - wasn't thinking vintage this time. I've been a bit burned recently - two ebay sellers not delivering (one selection of vintage Avon miniatures never arrived, one really dodgy 'vintage' Hermes selection), so am sworn off for a bit.

SOTD is New York 1955 - all lovely and sugary and fluffy to celebrate not being ill Grin

PerfumeIsAMessage · 29/07/2017 16:04

Hellooooooo. Finally poking my head back over the summer school 24/7 parapet. Mainly to tell you I have dipped my 4160 toes! I have a set of 7 samples and the half price weekly thingy, which was London 1969 and has gone right to the top of my desert island/FB list. I LOVE it. I can't stop sniffing myself and offering myself to randoms to smell me.
The others I have to try are: Buddawood Box, Paris 1948, Doe in the Snow, Tarts Knicker Drawer, Ealing Green, The Lion Cupboard and Lady Rose Lion.
I got an extra freebie of Sexiest Scent and treated myself to a wee sample of their vintage Y. The Y is so much more of a proper rounded scent than the other newer Y sample I have.
I have about 4 x 10ml bottles of Diorella. All vintage. You can snap them up quite cheaply on eBay. You all need some!
I also had a perfume parlour binge, and have a big spray bottle of their Rive Gauche, JM Wood Sage thingy ( the only JM which has ever appealed) Poeme, Manifesto, Addict, Fendi, Opium, Sicily, Iris something or other, Gris Montaigne and Colonial Water.
I ordered the Perfume Soc travel edition as well.

Mrsmartell08 · 29/07/2017 16:25

How is the PP addict??

MrsCocoa · 29/07/2017 19:01

Hey PiaM! Hope it's all going well? Those are two great lists. Let us know how you go with them all including the rest of the 4160s.

I need 10ml of Diorella. By chance I was looking up Manifesto on Fragrantica yesterday - I'm like homing pigeon when it comes to basil.

3 - sorry to hear that. It's a shame there's not been a revised edition of the Turin/Sanchez A-Z to help keep track of decent reformulations and ones to avoid. Recall he had generally nice things to say about Guerlain in his Folio articles?

Mrsmartell08 · 29/07/2017 19:36

I don't think manifesto smells of anything really...
I was quite underwhelmed

MrsCocoa · 29/07/2017 20:28

Which one did you smell MrsM - the old Isabella Rossellini, or current YSL?

Mrsmartell08 · 29/07/2017 21:10

Current one

Judydreamsofhorses · 29/07/2017 22:08

Lipstick Rose was SOTD for a lovely lunch.

MrsCocoa · 29/07/2017 23:36

Haven't smelt thatMrsM - used to have the old one.
