I took DM and Dsis to look at the pink thing today for a laugh. Lurid, creased, shapeless...it really is a thing to behold! We wished we had more time to all try it on for fun. There was some awful stuff in there.

originalbiglymavis · 06/05/2017 19:36

Do you think they know? Will they notice people taking sneaky selfie shots in the dressing rooms and posting them furiously in the shops, sniggering away?

Gingernaut · 06/05/2017 20:04

Even if they do, so what?

It's not shoplifting.

originalbiglymavis · 06/05/2017 20:05

They might sack the designer! I suspect sales aren't great so they probably already know that it stinks.

MiladyThesaurus · 06/05/2017 20:13

They have loads of them in stock at my local M&S, presumably because no one is actually buying them.

On the mannequin it looks like a pink hospital gown.

originalbiglymavis · 06/05/2017 20:16

I know it's all in the eye of the beholder, but are they having a laugh? How much is this monstrosity?

bingolittle · 06/05/2017 20:22

A lovely pink surplice for the famous Frilly Priests of the Church of Polyester! Amen, sisters!

Gingernaut · 06/05/2017 20:59

They might sack the designer!

The buyer, the manager, the HR manager who hired them, the boss man/woman/committee who OK'd the decision....

Someone, somewhere needs to learn a hard, hard lesson.

JuneFromBethesda · 06/05/2017 21:37

I love this thread. Love it.

Gingernaut you are a star

Elspeth's 'and that's how you look like a fat daffodil' made me laugh out loud

I saw The Dress at the start of the week, passing through Waterloo. Like so many of you, I was so mesmerised I had to take a photo, which I then texted to my sister with the caption 'Winner of the M&S 'Design a Dress That Looks Good on Absolutely Nobody' Competition 2017.

(She then dared me to try it on. I said I might, next time I was in Waterloo. I'll be there on Monday evening ...)

Gingernaut · 06/05/2017 21:54

JuneFromBethesda It only counts if there's a picture. Hmm

JuneFromBethesda · 06/05/2017 22:05

Of course! I wouldn't bother if it was only me getting a laugh at the apparition in the mirror Grin

BlueChairs · 06/05/2017 22:08

@originalbiglymavis BlushBlush I have the top version of the blue striped dress :(

originalbiglymavis · 06/05/2017 22:57

Now I didn't say it wasn't cute - but last summer there were Andy Pandies everywhere!

randomuntrainedcuntowner · 07/05/2017 00:32

Even online retailers that I usually like, like white stuff, white company, hush and the like are pedalling this frilly shite. Please say we won't be lapping it up in a few months?!

The worst case of "emperors new clothes" I have ever seen in the fashion trade imo

Psolomon · 07/05/2017 00:36

Ahhhhhhh....shoplifting

OlennasWimple · 07/05/2017 02:39

There's a new chair at M&S and a host of other experts at turning around failing businesses being brought in... Feel like tweeting them this thread and saving them a lot of time and money

Bluntness100 · 07/05/2017 09:51

The other thing I noticed yesterday is the shops are indeed full of palm prints, they are literally everywhere. I'm more an online shopper and don't often go to shopping centres but the shops really are full of palm prints. It's really strange.

That and those bloody cold shoulder tops! I hate those. Basically every shop has palm prints and cold shoulders. Apart from m&s, who seem to have gone down the WTAF is that route..😂

Gingernaut · 07/05/2017 11:11

£45 for the PP who asked.

I'm a size 10-12, 5'3" and this dress drowned me in a size 8! It looked like a potato sack and was ankle-grazing rather than midi length as it should be. Not great if you're petite but looks amazing on the tall models.

Gorgeous bubble gum pink colour? Check! Ruffle sleeves? Check! Low back with tie? Check! Pockets? Check! Below the knee length? Check! LOVE IT! Agree with other reviewers though - the low back needed to be cut an inch higher to avoid showing bra fastening. Now I will have to faff around trying to get a bra adjuster or something. But, bravo M&S :)

Love the colour of this dress. It's a vibrant eye catching dress which I think is easy worn. I got a size down to stop it feeling like a maternity dress. Only downsize is the back is too low and my bra shows . I plan on wearing a vest under it to get round this . But would recommend it

Couldn't wait for this to finally hit the shops and I'm not disappointed. It's a gorgeous colour - very Abigail's party and the fit of the sleeves and cut are spot on. It is made from 100% polyester, so it's very, very clingy without some sort of petticoat and you'll need a backless bra, as the low cut back is indeed low cut, but it's a great dress and can't wait for this winter to finally disappear so I can wear it!

Anyone else detect an undercurrent of sarcasm?

originalbiglymavis · 07/05/2017 11:36

Do you think they post a mumsnetting review?

"Fucking awful. What are they thinking? Is the buyer on glue? Would make a good Halloween costume for DD. Minus a million out of ten."

Gingernaut · 07/05/2017 11:52

I think they might object to swearing...Wink

MidnightVelvetthe7th · 07/05/2017 11:59
