sailaway quite a bit of her target range is on eBay - if it is genuine

IJustLostTheGame · 07/05/2017 14:07

I want to try that dress on and see how awful it looks.
ASOS have somewhat lost the plot as well.
I don't think this designer passed their textile GCSE

ctaxescapee · 07/05/2017 23:27

Took DH to view the frock this afternoon in M&S - the static gave him a bit of a shock, and he refused to try it on. Very disappointed!

Has anybody else seen this dress in m@s? I looked at it on the hanger and for a moment thought they had branched out, and it was a care assistant's uniform ....Confused

Gingernaut - you are a legend! For some reason I keep picturing Victoria Wood in the pink dress singing about crimplene!

Gingernaut · 08/05/2017 13:18

Weirdly, I thought of this dress when I was watching Mitch Benn sing songs about celebrity deaths in 2016.

He sang a cute, 'Wood-esque' song about Victoria Wood.

I don't think she'd have worn it though.

Maybe "Berta" or "Miss Babs" from "Acorn Antiques".

FluffyBathTowel · 08/05/2017 13:55

The dress has pride of place on a mannequin in my local M&S's enterance too. I was going to try it on to give myself a laugh but I couldn't bring myself to lift it off the rail and bring to the changing room incase anyone I know saw me.

Well done Ginger for taking one for the team. You're a braver person than me.

Gingernaut · 08/05/2017 14:21

Bluntness100 needs a big up too!

She tried the dress on and it fitted better

FluffyBathTowel · 08/05/2017 14:40

Sorry, missed your post Bluntness. Well done Grin

MsRinky · 08/05/2017 16:31

Excellent work. I walked past M&S today and laughed so much at the pink dress of doom proudly displayed on one of the mannequins that I inhaled a fly and had to be thumped on the back by strangers. Joy.

originalbiglymavis · 08/05/2017 16:54

I wonder if they've sold any. I mean seriously (not to Norman Bates or madam Tussauds).

SailAwaySailAwaySailAway · 08/05/2017 18:33

So are we having a virtual flashmob MN try on next Saturday or what?Grin

Backingvocals · 08/05/2017 19:54

To be fair to them, this is the year the catwalk says hideous ruffles are the solution. This is Hobbs - normally a safe bet for reasonably attractive stuff

hideous

And then as if that's not bad enough there's this as if lumpy brown ruffles were helpful to anyone.

Gingernaut · 08/05/2017 20:06

How about a donation to a cancer charity and a picture.

Some good has to come out of this. Surely? Confused

Gingernaut · 08/05/2017 20:11

Backingvocals - To be fair to Hobbs, there are some bee-yoo-tee-full items there.

And I bet sandpaper rough fabric is in short supply.

M&S seem to have gone to the cheapest fabric wholesaler and just swamped the shops with complete crap.

I don't say that lightly. I bloody love Marks. Sad Angry

bendyruler · 08/05/2017 23:12

As I was getting nearer to Marble Arch M&S on the bus today i was thinking of you lot and having a chuckle I was hoping the dress would be in the window so I could see it in all its glory and yep pride of place. It even looks crap on the mannequin. It really is supposed to be loose I just thought ginger had the wrong size on😬 I can't wait to see someone in real life actually wearing it 😊

Gingernaut · 08/05/2017 23:17

I'm with SailAwaySailAwaySailAway!

Donate money to a cancer charity.

A factor or multiple of the £45 the dress costs (£45, £5, £9 or £1)

Take a mirror selfie wearing the dress (maybe borrow a mask).

Post it on Mumsnet.

Do Twitter hashtags get picked up if they're not on Twitter?

If so, #marksandspencer.

Two birds with one stone. Good for charities and a lesson for M&S.

I'm doing it on Saturday.

Don't leave me hanging. Confused

ZogZogZog · 08/05/2017 23:18

Looking at the sign in the window I actually wonder if m&s are trolling themselves. Confused

None of those sleeves are remotely flattering. Hmm

Here is an attempt at styling the pink dress: quirkycurlsfashion.co.uk/2017/04/ms-styling-edit/

It looks ok but only because the stylist is adopting artificial poses. I think she's also safety-pinned it to get more of a waist - you can see this in the second photo taken from behind.
