It looks awful even on Sophie.

Bluntness100 · 22/05/2017 19:27

I have to say Melanie is pulling it off better than myself and ginger. Maybe nipping it in at the waist is the answer.

Is that patterned monstrosity m&s too? I'd definitely try that on as well. 😂

ElspethFlashman · 22/05/2017 19:54

Yes,.I think the floral one may be even worse.than the pink one. The neck ruffle! Shock

originalbiglymavis · 22/05/2017 19:58

I look forward to the sales this year! Even monsoons summer clothes are rank. Is it bad taste year or something?

SailAwaySailAwaySailAway · 22/05/2017 20:32

Those sleeves!
That hem!
FFS Primark throw together a better quality of shite than that.

Vroomster · 22/05/2017 20:42

I saw it today!!!

And as I brushed past I almost set myself on fire. No trying on for me, I would have looked like a child playing dressing up straight out the 1970s.

originalbiglymavis · 22/05/2017 20:49

I pointed it out to DH but he just looked at me like I had list the plot. I think he was just worried that I wanted to buy it.

GertyTheGert · 22/05/2017 21:39

Have you noticed the model is so ashamed at having to wear it that her head will roll off her shoulders unless she props it up with one hand and the other hand is clinging madly to the material just by her hip because the static from the material will cause a flash of lightning go right thru that studio if she moves one centimetre!!!!! The new Halfords woman probs thinks its great too - she of the frumpy togs and unwashed hair.....

Gingernaut · 22/05/2017 21:54

Maybe I'm thinking of Sindy, Barbie's frumpy British pen pal.

Oi! Sindy wore Mary Quant!

TheLongRider · 22/05/2017 23:23

Penney's in Ireland have a very similar dress, same pink, same polyester fabric but it's not one pane in front it has a waist seam. I'll take a photo next time I'm in, if it hasn't been taken off the shelves.

IJustLostTheGame · 23/05/2017 08:16

I thought it was daisy dolly who wore Mary quant?
I have one. In mary quant Grin

Actually the smug little trim bitch would probably look great in it

Gingernaut · 23/05/2017 08:44

Yes. IJustLostTheGame. My mistake.

It was Daisy who wore Mary Quant.

I had a Sindy and a Daisy and got confused. Confused

originalbiglymavis · 23/05/2017 08:46

Don't remember her. I always found dolls creepy though so didn't play with them. I do remember Polly Pocket.

DarklyDreamingDexter · 23/05/2017 09:02

Jeeez... I saw this horrid pink monstrosity on a store dummy the other day. Every bit as awful in real life as in the photo. If a gorgeous slender model looks like she's wearing a frilly pink sack, what hope does anyone else have? What the hell are M&S thinking? It wasn't the only frocky horror in the shop either - hideous shapes, revolting colours and disgusting patterns. Wake up M&S!!!

BitOutOfPractice · 23/05/2017 09:03

Frocky horror Grin

unfortunateevents · 23/05/2017 09:03

I saw someone wear that pink dress at a wedding, quite stylish looking woman but the dress looked horrible. Not helped by the fact that for some reason she wore a black bra, the back of which was visible through the open back of the dress.

originalbiglymavis · 23/05/2017 09:07

Maybe it was a mumsnetter on a bet?

unfortunateevents · 23/05/2017 09:11

Ooh, maybe I should have slid up to her and whispered a stream of stuff along the lines of "naice ham, squares of poo, penguin bollards, parking diagrams ..." to see if she reacted.

Chestervase1 · 23/05/2017 09:18

Fashion is made in the Far East especially China. We used to have our own manufacturing and fashion houses with house models etc. Girls are smaller on the whole and skin tone is different. All these garish colours do not suit but would probably look fine in Thailand, India etc. M & S need to send people over to manufacturers for quality control etc. It's also the reason there is no choice and it's the same fabrics and prints all made in vast factories with different labels for brands.

Mumsnut · 23/05/2017 09:43

Ha ha ha ha!

The Pink 'Un is featured in Wardrobe Icons this week!!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 23/05/2017 09:46

I really want to try it on too. Nelly the elephant chic Grin

PickleSarnie · 23/05/2017 09:49

Grazia seems bizarrely obsessed with M&S

that awful pink m&s dress...
unfortunateevents · 23/05/2017 09:59

Chestervase1 I don't think the location of manufacturing has anything to do with the cut, colour etc. The clothes are designed here and made to the size, specifications, pattern decided by M&S designers. The manufacturers don't randomly decide to change any of that to suit local trends.

murphys · 23/05/2017 10:33

Oh dear god, just opened this thread now....

I think it needs a vote for classics really as I haven't laughed at a thread as much as this one for a long time.....

As I am not in the UK I cannot join in with a trial run of this god awful dress, but I thought what we had on show in H&M was bad.... well, its was pretty bad, hideous in fact... so bad I cannot even find it online...

But now I am in fear that this is what we are going to be bombarded with for our summer clothes later this year. Can you just imagine wearing that polyester in our hot weather. Hope they come with a complimentary bottle of deo..Grin

BitOutOfPractice · 23/05/2017 10:45

That picture in Grazia almost makes it look like it has done shape. And they say the camera never lies
