Booked it and going for it. My hair looks shit poker straight so I'm going curly! Hoping to look fabulous and bouncy rather than Charlene from Neighbours but I'm very excited all the same!

I am reliably informed that perms are all the rage amongst 14 yo boys ATM Hmm

ToffeeCaramel · 21/04/2017 20:06

Pinkie that hair is quite something!

ToffeeCaramel · 21/04/2017 20:07

Ha ha at "we can all learn from it." Grin

squoosh · 21/04/2017 20:07

Uncover yourself OP our judgement shalt be merciful. Mostly.

Shamoffour · 21/04/2017 20:09

Blatant place mark, I remember honeys perm too, it looked really good.

retainertrainer · 21/04/2017 20:12

Chippy Shock is that what's going on?!!! I've seen so many teenagers with short sides and then a huge floppy mop of curls on top.....they've had perms haven't they!! Shock

CoolCarrie · 21/04/2017 20:15

Remember when loads of footballers had perms

JamesDelaneysHat · 21/04/2017 20:18

My brother got a terrible perm and streaks in the 80's! I got a terrible perm and streaks in the 80's.. Remember the stress and anxiety of waiting for it to drop.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 21/04/2017 20:50

I'm looking to grow my hair long again with the specific intention of perming it. (My phone keeps trying to change perming to perking). My hair is neither curly nor straight so I'm hoping a perm might be the solution.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 21/04/2017 20:52

This is the look I'm envisioning for myself

Ohb0llocks · 21/04/2017 20:56

OP I'm worried for you!

SailAwayWithMeHoney · 21/04/2017 21:27

Am I the only one that thinks the short back and sides and permed on top looks kind of toilet-brush-ey Confused

Op we need to see your perm!

MadisonAvenue · 21/04/2017 21:47

Around here in the 80s (around 84/85) a lot of the lads at school had a back perm, remember those? The hair at the back of their heads was permed but the top and sides was straight.

ChippyMinton · 21/04/2017 21:56

retainertrainer yep!

HoneyDragon · 21/04/2017 22:01

I did do a perm

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/1973949-Squeeeee-Im-having-my-hair-permed-on-Friday

Funnily enough I've been growing my hair out since November after having it shaved for ages so I can have another perm as I loved it.

I've now decided that perms and disconnected grade one undercuts are the easiest of all haircuts.

Meanwhile all bobs and variations of are cunts.

Pixie cuts are lovely but a pita to maintain.

Dip dye. Fine till you need a updo.

Baylage and ombré lovely. But then you get bored after a month.

Bilateral fringe. I'd rather not talk about it.

Silver.....omg THE MAINTENANCE (and risk of purple if you are forgetful like me and get distracted when toner is on)

Fun coloured hair only good if you've got steel hair which I have but accept split ends are now a part of your life.

So now I'm aiming to have a proper eighties short perm by the summer Smile

Like these.

So let's see yours op Grin

Bobs are cunts! Never a truer word written spoken

blue2014 · 21/04/2017 22:09

(Ps you have a lovely lovely face Honeydragon) Smile

HoneyDragon · 21/04/2017 22:11

Bobs are the politicians of haircuts ....promise everything, until you commit, then deliver misery, debt and self loathing.

MitzyLeFrouf · 21/04/2017 22:34

Come on OP out of the shadows with you. It (Brian) may not be as bad as you think. The problem with perms is that some bad 1989s examples have set the (Deirdre) bar low. Hopefully you're happy with your barnet!

TWOBANANAS · 22/04/2017 08:10

Hello! Well I did it and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! Will post a pic later today I promise! I haven't been able to wash it yet as I have to wait 48 hours but I love it. I'll post before and after pics and hope that no one prefers my hair poker straight Grin

Looks fab! I would love hair like this.

Veterinari · 22/04/2017 08:20

Ooh! That's fab! Really natural looking curls! Any idea what 'kind' of perm it is OP?

honeylou42 · 22/04/2017 08:32

Wow you look amazing Smile

JamesDelaneysHat · 22/04/2017 08:32

That was worth the wait - you look amazing!
