No papers yet - as far as I know.

If Marine gets in I don't think he'll get his papers!

DS has said they will leave France if Marine gets in.

Have you got your yet, Hatty? Stay safe.

hattymattie · 21/04/2017 10:46

No papers here MM - but as my receipt is the 2nd December - I don't really expect them till December at the earliest. I think if Marine gets in the Brits who are here by marriage should be OK. Not sure how the general ambiance in the country will be though. I just feel that we are all watching while the world slides into disarray.

hattymattie · 21/04/2017 10:47

... and I can't vote in Britain or France Angry

Cremolafoam · 21/04/2017 11:22

Oh i cant bear it. I love France so , but Marine makes my blood run coldSad

Lalsy · 21/04/2017 11:25

Cremolafoam · 21/04/2017 11:29

MI, interesting that you say the words on a page are you - I feel rather the reverse, that the words on a page are "not-me". Maybe I'd feel better about myself if I did feel the words were me. Hmmm....

Still for the life of me, I can't work out what I'm about.

Blackduck · 21/04/2017 12:56

No chance of string pulling unfortunately. My supervisor is very above board, unlike my place where promotions are given with no due process Angry

I hate how the world is going at the minute - so divisive and self serving. Not to say hypocritical.

hattymattie · 21/04/2017 14:51

Have consoled myself by buying (rather optimistically given my age, and the weather) some denim shorts.

motherinferior · 21/04/2017 14:59

I just picked up linen-mix summer frock in chazzer for £3...v nice red/orange print, ankle length (on me!). Snipped out horrid acetate lining and it's fab

hattymattie · 21/04/2017 15:12

MI - next time I'm in London I want you to take me chazzer shopping.Smile

motherinferior · 21/04/2017 15:56

It's a deal. Of course, now we won't find anything...nice frock, though!

hattymattie · 21/04/2017 16:03

SmileThe fun is in the searching or should I say rummaging. Finding stuff is a bonus.

Rosebag · 21/04/2017 16:17

BD that really is rotten. I'm so sorry, perhaps there's a small chance they won't appoint, and put put a call for more candidates. Flowers
BTM sorry about the loss of your DGodP Flowers Sad
Crem Hope the increased meds do something, although clearly the hand situation isn't much cop. Flowers
Good luck with the 'scoping, WAF.

The attack on the Champs was evil. And it will give that bloody Marine more votes, but surely she won't get through a second round? Please no. No no non. Angry

I have a sick headache. Even so, have taken DS2 shopping for clothes, shorts and shirts, after a teachers meeting today. He managed to get a student discount in FatFace which was some consolation, I suppose. Last week I bought this tunic dress also from Fatface. Quite pleased, although will be slightly less maternity- like when the weight loss prog starts (Monday).

Oh and I had the most unfamiliar experience of a really good parents evening for DD last night. It's a first. After 12 years of total, utter shite. she's even making progress in dance which is her weak spot, being dyspraxic and so very clumsy.

Rosebag · 21/04/2017 16:18

MI I can see a gap in the market for a chazzer Personal Shopper.... Grin

motherinferior · 21/04/2017 17:41

"Well, it'll fit ok if you just get that bit taken in - only be about twice what you paid for it - and ignore that blotch, I'm sure nobody will notice...yep, you look fab and what a bargain!"Smile

CointreauVersial · 21/04/2017 18:43

Today I'm wearing a chazzer blouse (ex-M&S), Lidl boyfriend jeans (£7.99) and Adidas Neo trainers inherited from DS when he grew out of them. I'm a walking advert for cheapskate clothing.

On the other hand, I just bought this gorgeous skirt - I had 20% off, but it's still a little extravagant considering I have no particular event to wear it to! Would it be wrong to keep it just in case? It's just fabulous.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 21/04/2017 19:08

It would be wrong NOT to keep it CV. (HTH).

BeachysSandyFlipflops · 21/04/2017 19:17

I can really imagine you in that, CV.... its lovely, I would think it could be dressed up or down as well.

Dh has just returned from a boys boozy outing this afternoon, he spoke bollocks for half an hour and has now gone to sleep on the sofa Confused I'm not waking him up until after MC otherwise he'll talk bollocks through that too!

I'm sorry about your missed opportunity, BD. I really hope another one comes along soon.....

addle · 21/04/2017 19:30

BD, is it worth writing to express your disappointment and demonstrate how very suitable you would have been? lodge your name in their minds. am so sorry, how frustrating

MI, I can't add much to the good constructive support you're getting, but please don't punish yourself - you've been coping with a lot this last year - and Lalsy is so right - you are not just the one endeavour

Lovely skirt CV - rather fabulous

Just wanted to let you lot know that 2 inches and a lot of layers came off my hair today and I have a sideways fringe that I'm simultaneously v pleased with and maddened by. Thanks for the encouragement - my hair and I feel a lot lighter. Wonder if it's like skirts and recession (obscure).

IDismyname · 21/04/2017 19:56

CV - I could practically hear every probate lawyer in the land 'face-planting' their respective desks this morning. What a palaver.

Anyhow, the bottom line is that the panic is over (albeit a month ahead of time for our submission) and we can sit and wait.

Sorry BD on you missing out. Is there NO WAY some strings can be pulled to at least get your CV assessed?

Hattie - you can always check on the online Oxfam clothing - not sure if they post overseas...

Rose - glad the patience has paid off, and DD is making progress.

Stropperella · 21/04/2017 20:14

Rose, how bloody lovely that must be for you, and also for dd. Superb that she has found 'her place'. BTW, I am also enjoying my Fatface student discount Grin. Not least because I now once again have a Fatarse and have had to buy new trews and their vanity sizing is most cheering. Grin

MI, I am sorry you are feeling crushed and discouraged. Hope you can find the energy to do what you feel you need to do. Am sure that in your position, I would probably stick it in a metaphorical drawer for a while, but I have to admit I also completely understand why you don't want to do that.

Yesterday, I had a haircut (oooh short, but still mad), a smear test, my eyelashes and eyebrows dyed, and also went to the dentist and the chiropracter. And got the all-clear from last week's mammogram. Busy.
Today, I have been mainly writing my mammoth report. Still not finished, but the end is in sight. (only approx 8000 words, who is going to want to read it? Bloody gold standard guidelines are a bit daft.)

Dd and ds have been getting on really well for the first time in years. She has been playing footie with him and taking him out places in her car. She took him to Weymuff today and took him out for lunch at one of our fave cafes (I provided some dosh) and then they went for a walk in the beach and had a play in the naff arcades. He came home with a teddy, which he is very pleased with and has inadvertently named after my df. Aww. In every way.

Stropperella · 21/04/2017 20:16

Er, 'chiropractor'.. Grin

Cremolafoam · 21/04/2017 20:46

Gosh Stropps, Addle It must be the day for hair chopping . Had a whack off mine
Young hairdresser to me after showing her photo - it'll look very old fashionedShock
Me to her- oh what do you mean? Hmm
Her- well it's like what I was cutting last summer
Me < trying not to smirk> Well that's modern enough for me thank you Hmm

CointreauVersial · 21/04/2017 20:47

Rose - how lovely that DD has found her niche and is being educated somewhere where they actually seem to value her.

Strops - it's very heartwarming when your DCs reveal that they are in fact rather fond of each other. Not that they would ever admit it.

Haircuts all round.....I'm having mine trimmed tomorrow.

I also went to the dental hygienist today - the unsmiling Latvian lady hygienist has been replaced by.....well, helloooo.....a Zayn Malik lookalike. Move over, Hot Mechanic. Grin He did some weird sand-blasting thing on my teeth while I kept my eyes tightly closed. I think perhaps I need to increase the frequency of my visits. Wink
