Hello everyone, sorry, I forgot to start the thread this morning/last night, anyway, I'm here, who else is still in? Come on, where are you all? Or AM I ALONE? Hmm? Hmm?

Yes yes batters, you can have a badge, just remember, we're not older or wise or sexier...

Right well, terrible but very pleasurable weekend I must say, roast beef, roast potatoes, parsnips, peas, carrots, broccoli, cookies and cream ice cream, an early night with dh though and only one glass of red wine with dinner. And no exercise. But today:

Granola
meeting with LOADS of pastries and I didn't touch them
went out for lunch and had a Greek salad (again) and got bored so didn't finish it
a few dried cranberries I found in my drawer at work, vile
an apple
a packet of wotsits (went to Tesco and was STARVING, still haven't eaten supper although it's imminent)
Didn't walk or use sunscreen
but feeling very happy and someone at work told me I'd lost weight today so that's nice (and makes a bloody change)
Having mussels
and cod with green beans and proscuitto and garlic and lemon for supper
will have an early night, I'm knackered
may drink some wine but won't have much, long day at work tomorrow
although I need to get good again about not drinking in the week, I'm doing about a B- on this and I was A++

Reports please everyone! I have noticed some good things:

I'm quite antsy if I DON'T do my lunchtime walk so I reckon it's a habit and
I automatically DON'T pick/buy chocolate/crisps/accept cakes if I'm offered them so I think I've changed my mindset a bit about food
My skin is still quite good

So it's all good. If no-one joins me I will witter on to myself here all week

I have just posted this on the old thread but am now posting here as I need sympathy.

Party on sat - too much champagne and profiteroles.

Have felt ill since - stomach cramps and was sick this morning so refuse to believe it was a hangover.

On the upside - have eaten v little yesterday and today and the eye cream seems to be working - bags and puffiness definitely reduced.

Had a very early night on Friday (10.00) and looked brilliant on Saturday so I think sleep is the thing for me - too little and I look like a hag.

puddle · 05/03/2007 19:57

www - eye cream is origins - I have High Potency Night-a-mins for night time (v thick and gloopy) and A Perfect World For Eyes for daytime.

Hi, just checking in to the new thread. Have eaten well today, ie healthily: natural yogurt, organic cereal, prawns, salad, fruit tea and water.

Will be eating a small curry later with dh as he is on the train back from a meeting with Gordon Brown.

I have a sore throat today - too much standing around in the cold watching the eclipse of the moon on Saturday night I think.

yoyo · 05/03/2007 21:48

Good day but aim to have a coiple of glasses of wine with ER.

Been to gym and have pilates tomorrow so doing well on the fitness front. No skipping today as legs refused to cooperate after gym!

Off to sofa now. Feeling shattered.

swedishmum · 05/03/2007 22:56

I'm eating really healthily (though did have some goats cheese tonight) - chargrilled veg and salad is my standard fare now!
We've had a man staying for the last week doing some admin for dh and he's gone!! So has dh too - off to Poland. So now I don't have to cook for said man, and can slop about in body cream without offending anyone.
I've been using Olay Regenerist for the last few weeks and my skin looks pretty good for me - probably simply because I've used it religiosly. Don't look as smooth as the "journalist" on the ad but she seems pretty botoxed to me. Still have the black rings though.

WideWebWitch · 06/03/2007 07:55

Oh I'm so glad I'm not alone and well done everyone, will respond fully later!

Oh no, I missed the prog! Grrr.

Hello, can I join you please? (pretty please?)

I think I've got the gist of what you are doing, better food, less alcoholic drink, more water, more exercise, spf for the face.

I lost a stone and a half last year but so far ahve put the hlaf back on adn it's creeping up and up, my skin isn't looking godd and I'm getting old - 44 soon, so action must be taken!

Can anyone fill me in on what other things you are doing?

sunnywong · 06/03/2007 08:29

right, I'm on in all earnestness now

so what's the drill, I know the prescribed regimen, but do we post what we've had to eat and how we've exercised and give each other manly pats on the back?

I'm having baked fish rubbed with one of those packet spice rub things.

sunnywong · 06/03/2007 11:40

it was rank
I won't be doing that again

nice not to be filled up with carbs of an evening

are we drinking on this thread?
I just bough 6 bottles of local white shiraz for 14 quid and no one is going to come between me and them at that price

cheers

CAM · 06/03/2007 14:47

I woke up with the world's worst sore throat this morning and flu-like feeling, reckon I caught it from dd and her friends who had similar last week. Went to work but left early as felt a bit wobbly.

Anyway food: ate too many carbs yesterday in the end, naan bread and lots of rice with the curry. No alcohol.Lots of water.

Today: organic cereal and natural yogurt for breakfast, home-made veg soup for lunch and a ham sandwich. Ill-person type food I feel, plus its gone cold down here near the Channel.

Will not exercise while I have the virusy thing but will drink gallons of water and fruit tea and no alcohol.

CAM · 06/03/2007 14:48

Oh nearly forgot, don't do manly slaps but a gentle feminine pat on the hand for Batters

I'm having a good week again as dh is away again and not able to corrupt me.

Homemade chicken soup for dinner yesterday and chicken something again tonight ( using up the Sunday roast).

Have been to Pilates, so have sore stomach muscles - no pain no gain

No alcohol , but have just had a 30 bottle delivery of wine, so temptation is now under my nose

WideWebWitch · 06/03/2007 19:06

Puddle, I hope you're over your hangover
ty re the eye cream, would you recommend do you think?

Sobernow, once a week is saintlike. I am doing twice a week but as I said, it crept up last week, must get back to A+ performance. Nice the be thought of as under 40! I have chocolate but 70% cocoa solids and only 3 small squares, which I reckon is fine.

Batters, walking is indeed good, is green tea nice? I have some in the cupboard but have never tried it. We have indeed lost a lot of people, total wusses and pussies the lot of them, gah.

Ooo Cam re Gordon, well done on eating healthily.

Yoyo, good on the yoga and pilates, well done.

Swedishman, glad guest has left and your skin is good, well done on using cream etc

lilibet, of course you can join, yes, that's the gist. And being happy with it, happiness quotient is v important on this thread, welcome.

Suzy, you can post as much or as little as you want about how you are, what you've eaten. I like reporting what I've done in results oriented fashion but you can just pop in if you want.

Oh goodness, just realised I didn't post the rules, I usually do but I started this new week in a hurry, ok will do so in a minute

Suze, you can drink in moderation, yes, but some of us are trying not to during the week. My aim is to not drink Sun, Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs and drink on Fri and Sat. But I have been b- on this and was A+ earlier in the year so must get back to it.
I really am noticing not eating so many carbs or as much sugar.

Cam sorry you've got a lurgy, hope it's swift and not too painful.

Well done Sobernow, a good day.
Iota, hmm, will you resist I wonder? Do tell us later! Welcome back.

Today:
Granola
an apple
a few grapes
a few raspberries
a few blueberries
a yellow pepper and 100g of hummus (160cal) for lunch
another apple
a poxy walk at lunchtime because my boss came with me and wanted to sit in the sun ( as I wanted to march) but used sunscreen
tomorrow I WILL WALK ON MY OWN. I am missing it, feel much worse for not walking. Plus have done something to my back and walking improves it.

But, but, but, great news MY COMPRESSED HOURS WERE APPROVED ON A TEMP BASIS!!!! YAY! SO THAT'S A FULL WORKING WEEK COMPRESSED INTO 4 DAYS BUT STILL ON FULL TIME PAY! I am so delighted, so I can have dd at home on Fridays and we will save £200 a month in childcare costs.

OK, it's a temp trial but I WILL make it work so they can't say it didn't work at the end of it. I am so pleased

THE RULES

This is about feeling better about yourself...it's not a diet per se

Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin

No or little booze. The odd glass of wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it

Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this

Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day

Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like. Use hand cream

Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos

Eat healthily

Be happy The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage. You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me. Welcome all members old and new.

WWW - fab news on the compressed working week

yoyo · 06/03/2007 20:45

Great news WWW! You'll be able to walk for miles with DD although probably at a rather slow pace.

Just going to have a couple of glasses of water and then think I'll doze on the sofa and pretend to be keeping DH company.

I'm here. I'll start posting what I eat too, and my exercise.

Mon:
Skinny mango smoothie
2 small wholemeal rolls (no butter)
1 hard boiled egg
Salad (no dressing)
Jacket potato
Egg
Tbsp salad cream to mix in
Salad
WW chocolate ice cream
2 liquorice allsorts for my sweet tooth

No exercise, never can on Mondays.

Tue:
Spirulina bar
2 wholemeal rolls
Hard boiled egg
Salad (no dressing)
Jacket potato (no butter)
WW baked beans
Salad
A couple of liquorice allsorts

Normally exercise but couldn't as had to go to the office.

Will post later about today. I'm doing lots of creams, not being brilliant with the water tbh. I've been so busy I'm just not thinking about it. I still haven't done that fake tan. I did swimming 3 times last week and I didn't want to react and go green. I'm gymming this week so no excuse really. I'm off to the sleb hairdresser tomorrow so don't want to go in accidentally tangoed and then off to my wine appreciation class dinner (am a bit worried about this one. I am easily led astray by a bottle of wine).

I'm off to the gym too this afternoon, to do some weights and cardio. I WILL lose that last stone ( and a half) and not run the gauntlet of fat shame at Heathrow.

I also need to go and post on style about what I need to wear in the UK in May, but Enid will pounce on me

arfishy · 07/03/2007 02:01

Well done on the compressed hours WWW! How brilliant. A bit of flexibility with work makes all the difference (says she working from home, one laptop doing the work, the other laptop mumsnetting).

SW - I got a case of chardonnay for $11 last week. Well, 4 actually. AND it's drinkable in gorgeous blue bottles with a fancy stopper. We figured at that price it's worth it for the bottles and were amazed when it wasn't drain cleaner.
