Hattie, dh had an icky fungal infection under one of his toenails and the GP gave him some stuff to paint on it. It worked by stopping the infection from spreading, so as the nail grew, the infection just sort of grew out. It took months, but it worked. Am glad you have decided not to bleach your toes!
MI, that is brilliant news! :)
BTM, that is also lovely news that your dd is off on a jolly, er, I mean, having a v serious and useful academic visit. It will probably do her a power of good and change her perspective a bit, and hopefully give you also a bit of breathing space from the stress. You must be absolutely worn out, what with one thing and another. Funnily enough, my dd is also in the same city at the moment
I am so damn tired, my brain is struggling to stay in gear this week. I have another w/e of academic work ahead of me and am feeling a tad overwhelmed. Last trip up to Bath for lectures tomorrow, though. Thereafter it is all report writing, assessing and teaching. Yeah "just" all that. As well as work. Still, as long as I get back in one piece at 10pm tomorrow, I'll at least be able to cross "lectures in Bath" off the to-do list.
About varifocals: obvs it is all a YMMV situation, but I meant the computer glasses advice to be for those who spend very long hours working in front of a screen. 10-12 hours a day was habitual for me when I was a freelance translator and dh often does more than that, so any slightly uncomfortable position maintained for that length of time obviously has significant consequences. I find that my varifocals are completely fine for computer use for an hour or so, but if I put in half a day's work in front of the screen, I need my computer specs. And dh wears bifocals, not varifocals, so gets a stiff neck quite quickly if he doesn't wear his computer specs.
But then I am also massively fussy about my workspace and couldn't, for instance, ever work for an extended period on a laptop. I have one, but just use it for emergencies really. I have a desktop with 2 monitors and a large ergonomic keyboard for working. Would happily have a third monitor if I could fit it on my desk.
