Alright Grin understood - I will try Vicks which seems to be popular. Have also discovered mould can be lasered. Will look into this. The medicine is apparently really bad for your liver so it seems overkill for a fungal infection.

Anyway, as you were. Have remembered there's the second part of the nasty maternity replacement series tonight.

BTM - glad DD had a good trip. I remember DD1 going to uni and saying she had true girlfriends at last - three years on, they are still all good friends - so it obviously wasn't DD1 - take heart. Also, a DD1 met up with a girl from school recently who apologised to her and said that one girl a "queen bee" decided to exclude her from everything and they were never very sure why. The sad thing is how others go along with these things instead of making a stand.

Stropperella · 07/03/2017 19:34

Hattie, dh had an icky fungal infection under one of his toenails and the GP gave him some stuff to paint on it. It worked by stopping the infection from spreading, so as the nail grew, the infection just sort of grew out. It took months, but it worked. Am glad you have decided not to bleach your toes!

MI, that is brilliant news! :)

BTM, that is also lovely news that your dd is off on a jolly, er, I mean, having a v serious and useful academic visit. It will probably do her a power of good and change her perspective a bit, and hopefully give you also a bit of breathing space from the stress. You must be absolutely worn out, what with one thing and another. Funnily enough, my dd is also in the same city at the moment Wink

I am so damn tired, my brain is struggling to stay in gear this week. I have another w/e of academic work ahead of me and am feeling a tad overwhelmed. Last trip up to Bath for lectures tomorrow, though. Thereafter it is all report writing, assessing and teaching. Yeah "just" all that. As well as work. Still, as long as I get back in one piece at 10pm tomorrow, I'll at least be able to cross "lectures in Bath" off the to-do list.

About varifocals: obvs it is all a YMMV situation, but I meant the computer glasses advice to be for those who spend very long hours working in front of a screen. 10-12 hours a day was habitual for me when I was a freelance translator and dh often does more than that, so any slightly uncomfortable position maintained for that length of time obviously has significant consequences. I find that my varifocals are completely fine for computer use for an hour or so, but if I put in half a day's work in front of the screen, I need my computer specs. And dh wears bifocals, not varifocals, so gets a stiff neck quite quickly if he doesn't wear his computer specs.
But then I am also massively fussy about my workspace and couldn't, for instance, ever work for an extended period on a laptop. I have one, but just use it for emergencies really. I have a desktop with 2 monitors and a large ergonomic keyboard for working. Would happily have a third monitor if I could fit it on my desk. Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/03/2017 19:57

I can't keep up. I can't see MN at work, so have to get a huge whoosh of Crepeys in the evening.

Will settle down after dinner to have a proper read.

bigTillyMint · 07/03/2017 20:00

Stropps, wouldn't it be funny if they ended up in the same club or pub tonight!

Hatty, I got DH Vicks for his horrid toenail, but he never used it. I'm not sure what the toenail looks like now as I can't bear to look - men's feet are grimGrin

motherinferior · 07/03/2017 20:18

Weirdly, DP has rather nice feet. Shock

My monitor is elevated by standing it in various books including Sheila Rowbotham's A Century of Women. So I don't crick my neck.

I also have a footrest, i.e a hardback tome entitled A Chronicle of the 20th Century.

No idea where they came from. I think the alcoholic lefty ex left them behind when he left me. He left most things. Including three pairs of pants in the washing basket and a packet of bacon (which at the time I didn't eat) in the fridge. I packaged the pants and bacon up in a padded envelope and sent them to the office of the lefty magazine where he worked. Second class. In a heat wave.

Lalsy · 07/03/2017 20:35

Aha, OK, thanks Stropps. I am all over the place really, as I don't have a desk......I will try and notice what I am doing and how I am sitting/feeling.
Good luck tomorrow - when does the whole module finish?

herbaceous · 07/03/2017 21:21

I've had mouldy claw toenails for about 20 years. Nothing I've tried topically has made any difference, including Vicks. They went a bit black, but nothing fundamentally changed. They are utterly gross, but not bad enough to risk nasty drugs.

Eyes so tired from prepping for this bloody interview. (See previous convos re lack of suitable computer eyewear.) I'd better get it...

Lalsy · 07/03/2017 21:25

Ignoring may be a reasonable option according to NICE.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 07/03/2017 21:47

Go Herbs! The Crepey Massive will be willing you to victory. If they don't give you the job this time tell them to FUCK OFF. Let's hope they're not so stupid.

BD - where / how are you lovely? i'm worried about you.

Montypulciano · 08/03/2017 07:02

Break a leg today, Herbs.

Cloud, how is Ds doing?

Hope other poorly / upset / anxious children are doing ok.

Much Iove to BD.

bigTillyMint · 08/03/2017 07:09

MrsS, or indeed anyone who knows can answer, DS has a question for you!
Who lives at the other numbers of Downing Street (obviously we know who lives at 10 and 11Grin)?

Whilst I was asleep last night (about 5mins, awake the restAngry) I had a dream that when I removed my toenail polish, I had mould spots and gungy stuff all over my big toenails. Now I daren't remove the nail polish!

Good Luck Herbs!

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/03/2017 07:09

Go Herbs! We can compare interview notes tonight. I'm afraid my prepping has consisted of not sleeping through fretting. Tried to carve out some time at work to do some prep but too much work, and it didn't happen.

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/03/2017 07:11

BTM - I don't think there are any other numbers in Downing Street. The Cabinet Office is at none end and the Foreign Office takes up the whole of the other side.

addle · 08/03/2017 07:18

Good luck Herbs and Mrs S!

V glad dd had good day, BTM.

Thinking of you BD.

Have to run two training sessions today, neither of which I'm equipped for and one of which involves pointing out close colleague's blind spots. And anyway there's too much of the rest of my work.

Looking forward to Catastrophe tonight.

Lalsy - you spot on about Broadchurch. That many creepy men? I'd just move. DH and I started noting every hard stare/furtive glance etc etc

bigTillyMint · 08/03/2017 07:33

That's what DH though, MrsS! Good Luck to you too!

Addle, she went yesterday but she is there for the open day today! Has your DS had any luck with his plans?

magimedi · 08/03/2017 07:38

Good luck to Herbs & Mrs S.

Lalsy · 08/03/2017 07:58

Really really good luck to MrsS and Herbs!

I have gone off Catastrophe, loved series 1.

Off to an open day with ds today.

bigTillyMint · 08/03/2017 08:07

I have no idea what Catastrophe is, but it sounds like my life!

Open Day isn't Brizzle is it?

Lalsy · 08/03/2017 08:09

Oh BTM, are you at work today or can you catch a nap?

No, the other B!

motherinferior · 08/03/2017 08:23

Oh dear GOD where can I get tiny DD2 some THIN school tights?

Rosebag · 08/03/2017 08:29

Good luck to MrsS and Herbs in spite of sleepless nights you'll be fine.

BTM I'm glad DD is off away to Uni days. Hopefully she will start to feel that looking ahead is a good thing, and that the opportunities of Uni life will include making lovely new friends and only keeping in touch wth old friends who are worth it. On the shoe front, I have Clarks Kendra Sienna in black...they're great heels and quite comfy.

addle · 08/03/2017 08:33

Btm he hasn't heard back from b yet and is yearning after Birmingham becos so many friends going. All change here. He's v grumpy too when not with gf. Hope dd has gt day. Bette weather thannwe had ...

motherinferior · 08/03/2017 09:07

THANK YOU. Thought I'd exhausted all outlets!

herbaceous · 08/03/2017 10:13

Holed up in meeting room awaiting my turn to teach. Hideous. I bloody hate interviews, and just want it to be all over.
