WIBBLE.

I am preparing for an interview tomorrow, at Third Time Lucky school, as a TA for the EAL students. I know I could do the job standing on my head, and if anything am overqualified, but am being pathetic. I have to do a 20-minute teaching session introducing three new-to-English pupils to a GCSE English poem. I'm thinking picture matching to vocab, pronunciation practice, categorisation of vocab under the 'themes' that the curriculum asks them for. That should be fine. But I will also have to undertake a 'task', and create a presentation on a subject yet to be revealed.

The head of English at the school previously said that if I ever go for a job there again I should give him a ring beforehand for priming. But I'm scared!

Lalsy · 07/03/2017 13:32

Nor me, Hatty......

Well, my day just got lots better when my ideal fleece arrived, courtesy of lovely Magi. I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to my summer holiday now......Grin

GiddyGiddyGoat · 07/03/2017 13:35

Follow the hel0ful instructions and call him Herbs! 《《stern face》》. And while you're on the phone tell him how much you really really want the job.

RING HIM HERBS.

By floppy lettuce I mean an ordinary round English lettuce. I've been stirfrying Cos lettuce for a while. It wasn't particularly slimy - more like spinach than pak choi, perhaps. Did it with smoked tofu and some of those 'grains' that you get in a ready-done pouch.

I have also made an aubergine and chickpea curry and a roast cauli/pea soup. That, I suspect, is me done for the week. We have DD1's parents evening tomorrow so I wanted something we could just produce on our return.

I should go and finish a feature now!

herbaceous · 07/03/2017 13:45

I feel I should have some intelligent questions for HoE. But I don't. But yes - time for the big girl pants.

motherinferior · 07/03/2017 13:47

I suggest: what do I have to do to get the job?

Lalsy · 07/03/2017 13:55

Good luck, Herbs!

Crem, did they say why you got rejected?

Cremolafoam · 07/03/2017 13:56

Phone him Herbs . It will be fine. He said to call. I say so!!

hattymattie · 07/03/2017 14:02

Herbs - he may be expecting you to ring him - so I'd definitely go for it. It sounds as though you are a front runner otherwise he wouldn't have offered.

Crem - sorry it was bad news. Agree with the others about feedback.

herbaceous · 07/03/2017 14:21

Have rung! Naturally, he wasn't there, much to my relief. But I left a message...

S&B gap in the market - kitten-proof jumpsuit, made of double-layer hessian, to don upon entering the house. I appear to be nothing more than a mobile play tree, especially good for chasing each other's tails upon. My legs are a mass of scratches where they pull themselves up, and my neck a war zone where they cling on when pushed off by the other.

Rosebag · 07/03/2017 15:39

Sorry about the rejection Crem Sad

Now Herbs when he calls back say "Let's cut the crap...what do you want me to say at this interview...."

I have dealt with DM remarkably well. My halo shineth bright. The day went pear shaped when I decided now was the time to get started on those Apple Almond pies....made two and completely forgot to add the sugar over the Bramleys in the second one. This occurred whilst being badgered by DS2 who keeps calling from Uni on account of having man flu. And me trying to hold an iPhone whilst rolling out pastry
Angry

As a consolation prize I'd love to comfort eat three iced buns but I think I am going to order a new pair of jeans

motherinferior · 07/03/2017 16:30

I just looked up the length of my Ladyjog. It really isn't very far. Under 5k. And I was feeling so smug Blush

bigTillyMint · 07/03/2017 16:51

Those shoes are all lovely, but I fear they are too dainty for me! I would be worried about breaking the heel (has happened once before, at said cousins house Grin) - I am wondering about these Or are they too clumpy? I have actually got other black shoes I could wear, and DD says I should wear sandals and bare legs, but I fear that could be a step too farGrin

Well done on phoning, Herbs. Am crossing everything for you.

So sorry about the rejection Cremo. Fools.

DD is on the train to bf uni Offer Holder day - glad she has a couple of days away.

motherinferior · 07/03/2017 16:57

BUGGER ME. I've just been informed I am owed a HUGE amount in back-dated copyright.

Cremolafoam · 07/03/2017 17:20

Shall I include trips to the moon / long haul MI?
Great news!!

motherinferior · 07/03/2017 17:24

Well, we can get as far as SkegnessSmile

herbaceous · 07/03/2017 17:31

Skegness by helicopter, chauffeur-driven Rolls or gilded carriage, MI?

motherinferior · 07/03/2017 17:35

Unicorn chariot, I think.

hattymattie · 07/03/2017 17:36

Like the shoes BTM. I need chunky heels as well.

Yay - good news MI.

Well done Herbs for phoning and Halofor Rose (been dying to use that emoticon).

It is official I have a mouldy toe. Uncertain how I got this as I haven't been near a pool or sauna in at least a year. I'm wondering if I can use bleach on a cotton wool bud on it. I don't want to take horrible strong medicine.

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 07/03/2017 17:54

No Hattie, you cannot use bleach on your toe Grin where's Sister when you need her for control purposes?

I too have done halo work with ddad. I took him to the builders merchant and shoved him in and out of shower closures until he chose the one he liked!

My cleaner is back from a three week break, thank god, just in time for Dh to come home from his boys trip to a sparkly house....

And in other strange news, my dc have gone for a bike ride....together....Confused

bigTillyMint · 07/03/2017 18:01

Well done to Halo daughters.

Beachy, bike ride sounds good.

MI money owed sounds really good - is it winging it's way to you or will you have to prise it out of their coffers?

DD has atried and is a happy bunny Wink

motherinferior · 07/03/2017 18:02

It will take up residence in its new home on 24 March. It'll be taxable earned income but still INCOME.

hattymattie · 07/03/2017 18:43

Hmm - lots of people on the internet seem to have used bleach. I know his isn't necessarily reliable but it works on the bathroom mould

Lalsy · 07/03/2017 18:57

Hurrah, MI!

Nooo, Hattty - no medicine will be as strong as bleach! Step away from the bottle.

motherinferior · 07/03/2017 19:01

Hattie, DO NOT BLEACH YOUR TOES. Really do not. You could end up like Edward Lear's Pobble Who Has No Toes. Do you want to be a Pobble or a Parisienne, eh?
