I'm not sure what you can do about the girl friendship thing - I agree with Stropps that they are all so het up at this stage of Year 13 that any hint of additional anxiety or stress can set them off. Can your dd get support or strength from the others in the group? How much do these girls know about ds and what she is going through? TBH, some of them are probably low on empathy or reserves exacerbated by exam stress and tiredness. I'm not sure how that helps, but normal group dynamics that have worked for years can go to pot in stressful exam years.

The girls in question know everything about DS, but probably don't have any inkling about how really bloody terrible it has been at home - understandably. But friend 2 (whose parent replied) and DD got through the GCSES together supporting and encouraging each other Friend 1 was not on the scene at this time

I watched broad church too, but didn't see either of the last two series, so have the advantage of less addlement, but the disadvantage of not knowing any necessary background info.

Watched SSGB last night, and was totally baffled. Very little idea what's going on. Too many meaningful looks, and double bluffs, and not enough plot exposition for the hard of thinking. And the mumbling, but dashing, main man with no facial expression doesn't help matters.

Still pursuing holiday destinations with absolutely no success: we discussed cruising the Norwegian fiords yesterday and the cost kept on escalating.
