Mrs S - I'd like to but I'm waiting for DD to tell me if she's in London or not. Unsure why it's quite so complicated. Will keep you posted.

WAF - I hadn't thought of iron. I think my levels are probably OK. I was full of energy last week.Confused

addle · 16/03/2017 17:52

Waf, I got duvet cover etc fr ds in primarni - plain dark blue one side, palm trees and large butterflies on the other side. Apologised fr the b&bs but blow me down if he doesn't actually like them. V sweet.

Hope you out of the toilets Mrs S?

S&an - trying lauramercier tinted moisturiser - anyone experience? Xx

Lalsy · 16/03/2017 17:54

I may go Euromarching in the day and probably won't know till last minute....we could also consider cocktail possibility...PMs sent and we can check numbers next week.

WAF, that is so good about your dsis....makes a huge difference.

MI, fiction editing gig sounds promising?

hattymattie · 16/03/2017 17:56

Ooh marching for Europe - maybe I should do that as it's pretty close to my heart.

bigTillyMint · 16/03/2017 18:26

WAF, I so want that button RIGHT NOW!

Collymollypuff · 16/03/2017 19:10

BTM, maybe we could all don our tabards and do some mutual emergency comfort knitting or some such. I am sad, too, today. I would suggest a BP stomp this weekend but am heavily under the cosh with my course work - which is adding to the stress of course. The only thing I can say is that crises seem to bring parents closer to dc; that's my experience anyway. And I am expecting great spadefuls of gratitude in my dotage.

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/03/2017 19:43

WAF - don't wax, get a facial epilator from Amazon. Briefly ouchy, but very satisfying. Deals effectively with the beard, too.

My mother had good news on her cancer in that it had not recurred (what they had thought was cancer was a benign tumour) but when she went in for the op, they checked he heart and blood pressure. BP was sky high and heart beat very irregular, so they did an ECG. Her heart is not beating properly, blood is remaining in it and she is at high risk of a stroke. They have given her some medication, side effects of which include bleeding from the bum and eyes. She must have been in shock because she was nice to me.

Cremolafoam · 16/03/2017 19:53

Oh flipping hec Mrs S, she must be in shock. Sounds pretty awful for her, and I wouldn't wish bleeding bum on anyone. Don't suppose you'll know she is better until she starts berating you again. An aside:
There used to be a pub in Dublin called the Bleeding Horse. In a Dub accent it always sounded like bleeding arse to me I thought you might enjoy that Mrs S.

Lalsy, thanks for rounding everyone up and sending details. I would also be marching if I was arriving early enough, but I won't I'm afraid.
Don't know about Laura Mercier Addle, but am v interested. Need something to make me look alive.

NUFC69 · 16/03/2017 19:55

So sorry things are so rough, BTM. How are DH and DD coping; and do you have RL friends on the spot who can give you support?

DSis has now gone home, so the apartment is quiet. We did a bit of retail therapy, which included cake, this afternoon and I have bought a rather nice Seasalt gilet from an outlet. Tomorrow we're off to see DH's DB and wife for lunch; only trouble is we can't contact them and we don't want to drive for 45 minutes to discover they are out (they have form for this).

NUFC69 · 16/03/2017 20:02

It took me so long to post that I missed MrsS's update re her mum: her diagnosis sounds awful, but at least she was pleasant for a change which must be a bonus.

I have just heard from DS: the baby is growing well, already 2lb 9 oz at 28 weeks. Let's hope DDiL can keep her legs crossed until mid June as I don't think I can cope with another prem baby, and I am sure they can't either!

Lalsy · 16/03/2017 20:13

Oooh NU, I had forgotten the thread was having another baby Smile.

MrsS, how horrid. Shock at her being nice to you. Whatever happens, do not feel guilty.

Sorry things still tough round your way, Molly.

Cremolafoam · 16/03/2017 20:20

Gosh NU, fingers crossed for DIL.

Watching Great Pottery Toilet making with some , er, apprehension.

Collymollypuff · 16/03/2017 20:20

It's partly that dh is out playing his "sport" several nights a week, Lalsy, so I can't discuss parental worries with him. Plus he might be made redundant. Plus he's stopped walking ddog so that is an extra domestic duty for me, just when I need to step up my academic work. Plus I literally get panicky about my academic work.

Collymollypuff · 16/03/2017 20:23

....plus dd seems to have de-friended me on FB, so what is she doing that she doesn't want me to know about? And is that why I have been de-friended?

hattymattie · 16/03/2017 20:24

NU - I had to be on bed rest for the last 6 weeks with DS - very annoying. Glad things are going well.

Mrs S - bleeding eyes sounds like a horror film. Glad she's still ticking over and very glad she was nice to you.

OK ladies - I think I should march the Saturday, so if anybody needs a marching buddy let me know. I'm trying to press gang DD into it as well.

motherinferior · 16/03/2017 21:13

I should be marching - in fact will join friends who have come to London specially.

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 16/03/2017 21:58

Just like to say, this has gone down very well!

☘️☘️happy St. Patrick's Day☘️☘️ and top of the morning to ye all.

Today I will mostly be press ganging dh into helping me with small domestic jobs that have needed doing since we emerged from the primordial ooze. Such is the law of the unexpected bank holiday.

hattymattie · 17/03/2017 09:31

Happy Saint Patrick's Crem Grin

herbaceous · 17/03/2017 09:59

Happy St P.

Hope you're feeling less panicked today Molly. It is all possible, and will work out. It always does!

And BTM - I am in awe of your fortitude. It must be so hard just keeping going, and being the sturdy rock, among such uncertainty.

Bad mother again. DS won 'star of the week' at assembly today, and I wasn't there because I couldn't be bothered. And because I was taking the car to the garage.

How's this for service. The door check thingo - the device that stops the door closing upon one - had been making a horrible clicking noise for ages. I thought it needed replacing, or something. So took it to nearby garage to have a look at. Nice man just got out his screwdriver, tightened the relevant screw, and it's fixed. No charge. He could have sucked through his teeth, talked about 'parts', kept it in for a day and charged me £100 and I wouldn't have known the difference. Puts me in a dilemma for future car needs though - this lovely helpful garage, or the one with Hot Oily Mechanic?

motherinferior · 17/03/2017 10:18

Molly darling, focus on academic work with dog-walking as therapy in between. The offspring are adults and DH's sitch (which would be driving me bonkers with worry too) you can't do anything about.

I think if you can tick off those deadlines - and you will do the work really well! - it will be easier to cope. And doggy walking will cheer and exercise (if we were any closer I'd rent you DD2 for the purpose!)

motherinferior · 17/03/2017 10:19

BTM, how's today?

Lalsy · 17/03/2017 10:38

Molly, that is a lot. Sorry to hear about dh's job. I wouldn't worry about the FB thing unless something else has happened - she may have just got fed up with censoring her feed or whatever (I am a friend of dd but don't see everything she posts), or a mate may have said something or whatever.....It must be very hard to focus on academic work when you are worried about family - does taking work to a lovely library or cafe help you switch off at all?

Happy St P's day Crem. We have ooze-covered chores here too this weekend!

herbaceous · 17/03/2017 11:01

I am currently sitting on my hands, trying not to post on one of those 'my little angel won't stop trashing my house but I don't believe in saying no as it stifles her Just Darling creativity' threads. I think we've all known some products of those sorts of parents, and they don't come round to play any more.

motherinferior · 17/03/2017 11:56

I see you released your hands, herbs.Smile
