Oooh, lots of lovely posts to catch up on.
I haven't bought anything for ages, a) because of madbusy- am entering possibly the busiest week of my life (exams all day Saturday and Sunday for my kids, DD has Spanish exams Thursday and Friday, she has her confirmation on Saturday night so family do, and I need clothes! and the confirmation means she has to be in church almost every day this week. I am doing 10 extra hours at school without pay because the school has no money and the kids need it for the exam...and breathe...) b) my bloody card keeps being refused despite being healthily in the black. I got very cross with "Rajesh" yesterday afternoon who told me my card was blocked by HSBC fraud team FFS. Now I have to ring them. I was trying to buy the bloody clothes for the weekend and time is running out! Gah!
Cologne! My gorgeous beautiful Spanish lover wore it, as did all Spanish males back in the day. So funny- I au-paired one summer and the boy went on a school camp thing and his mother was packing his case and pride of place went to a ginormous bottle of "colonia" Me and my friends used to roffle for hours about these macho men with their Camel fags and buckets of gin reeking of granny's eau de cologne.
Obviously am now going to have to get some just to remember. As if I needed reminding....
Badders- Apres L'Ondee is very very violetty and not much else IMO. I like it, it's classy, but it is one scent that I really do feel is too old lady and not enough grand dame.
I also love the old Estee Lauders but have rarely smelled any of the new, I got the PP dupe of Bronze Goddess which was hilarious. Ambre Solaire. Nice enough, and a clever concept, but I wouldn't wear it.
PP- if you like the Nivea/Dove kind of thing then my beloved Prada Iris will be right up your street, it's a cross between soap and cold cream I always think. OC- I have the Sahara Noir but haven't tried it yet. My colleague and I decided Tom Ford was....ssssh.....a bit Emperor's New Clothes
I was in Neroli Portofino at the time, and yes, it's lovely. Lasts 20 minutes and is no better than the Yves Rocher Neroli that you get a mahoosive bottle of for about a tenner.
Dream- I have that mini set with Paloma Picasso, Loulou, Anais Anais, Fidji, Ralph Lauren (it's just called that- small red bottle) and Giorgio Armani (just called that, presume original fragrance) I only really bought it for the vintage Fidji and original PP as I am never without AA anyway, and didn't know the other two. Might wear Fidji today. So classy.
In honour of our Scarf I stuck my nose into my sample box yesterday and imagine it smells like the Scarf. I isolated the outside of the Diorella as the main contributor. Magnificent.
Green- I have the PP Jicky. I find some PP's on the sweet side, and don't know if that's PP, or the way the real thing smells iyswim? Jicky doesn't give me that smell of sex it's supposed to, but then neither did Musc Ravageur. Just very sweet.
MrsCocoa- I need a list of your heavenly Avons!
I am going to totes ignore that you have said that Sarah M might ship to abroad if asked nicely. no, I'm not, clearly
